TGIF used to make some potato skins (snack chips in the grocery store) that were also habanero but they were quickly discontinued. So delicious.

I tried one of the other flavors and they were terrible, but the heat on the habs was perfect, couldnt stop eating them.

My advice = enjoy them cheetos while you can because it might not be for very long.

I have a feeling that most ppl that read cheetos as cheerios are breeders who have had little F-trophies running around the house recently.

Habanero Doritos were out for a long time but discontinued a couple of years ago. They were, without a doubt, my favorite chip. I think we had a Doritos thread where we discussed this one and some others. My feelings of anger and disappointment over them pulling this flavor were profound.

HOWEVER, apparently they released them as a limited time thing just before the Super Bowl. I didn't know about it until a week or so ago when I saw the little bags in a convenience store. I bought all they had (9 bags). :D

So are these the same as Cheddar Jalapeno Cheetos? I was walking past the vending machine in my office just now, and someone was loading it, which reminded me to look for Habanero Cheetos. The guy asked what I was looking for, and I told him. He said he had them -- then he said they were jalapeno. And he gave me a bag, and said don't worry about it. So that was cool!

Darn, I went out to try to find them and only found the jalapeno. Obviously, I must try different grocery stores this weekend.

Pass....habaneros are much spicier, so in theory, yes, some people want it hot....er, hotter. ;)

Found some Habanero Cheetos and gave them a try, but it was just a little too strange for me. I guess I just have it ingrained in me that the specific texture only belongs with cheese.

Went to the gas station and got Fiery Habanero Doritos and they were great! Not as spicy as the Habanero Cheetos but really good. Then we ate the Jalapeño Cheetos and they were tasteless, probably because our tongues were numb from the Doritos. They had a sign for the 1st 2nd and 3rd degree Doritos so of course I asked about em and they sold out. I asked if they were getting another shipment and they said twice next week... guess I'm goin' back :)

Went to the gas station the other day to get some more 1st Degree Burn Doritos, but they were out.

Honestly, I think I'm good with 1st Degree Burn. They're plenty hot enough for me (I don't normally like food that hot/spicy) and they're damned tasty.

...But knowing me, I'll try 2nd and 3rd Degree just to say I've done it.

I finally found the 3rd Degree Burn and also bought a bag of the 1st Degree Burn to try them. They're pretty hot actually and are very good if you like jalapeno chips. The 3rd Degree Burn are an OUTSTANDING replacement for the Fiery Habanero, quite similar, so I hope they get a wider release because the groceries around here still don't carry them. You have to find them at convenience stores and gas stations in the little bags.

OMFGWTF, I can't feel my mouth. Went back to the gas station and they had 1st and 2nd degree so I got 1 bag of 1st degree, and 2 bags of 2nd degree (I knew these would be a hit in our household). Tried 1st degree and my first instinct was to cough. You can feel the spiciness right away. They didn't really taste like Doritos though, they tasted more like corn. So I tried 2nd degree... holy fuck! I felt it right away. But man, they were so flavorful. Ant and I split 1 of the bags and our 5 year old ate 1 whole bag (!!!!!). My nose was a little runny and my eyes got a tad watery, but Jesus, they're fucking fantastic. I went back to the gas station and wiped them out of 2nd degree. I asked if they could order some 3rd degree and they said yes. Just in case they forget, I went to Walgreens to see if they had any and sure enough, they didn't. I asked to speak to a store manager and requested that they order 'em. He said the chip guy will be there tomorrow and he'll ask him... yay!

So there you go, I go to 2 places and request to special order these... I gotta have 'em! To cover my bases I'm gonna go to CVS and if they don't have 'em, I'm gonna ask to speak to their Store Manager so he/she can talk to their chip guy.

Oh, and I had to down 2 glasses of milk to extinguish the flames in my mouth. An hour and a half later and I can still feel it. You know how your mouth feels after eating Cap'n Crunch? Stuff shreds your mouth... well, it's pretty close to how my mouth feels but with a tingle in it. Even then, I can't wait to try 3rd degree!

1st Degree Burn + Lime Pepsi Max is decent, but nothing I'd rush right out and get again. On the other hand, the lime Pepsi Max has a pleasant taste just by itself.

I've gotten tired of 1st Degree Burn, by the way. The last couple bags I've noticed a *very* strong cream flavor which I don't especially care for, so I told my mom, who's been looking, that the 3 bags of 1st Degree Burn she found are fine.

But I have other news to report!

When I went to my usual gas station just now, they had *3* bags of 2nd Degree Burn, the first time I've seen 2DB live and in person! Naturally, I snatched all three bags up.

Haven't tried them yet, but will soon.

Yeah! Can't wait to hear how it goes :)

I went back to gas station #2 and they only had 1st degree. The 2 people I spoke with weren't there so I didn't ask. These seem really hard to come by; I might have to write to Frito-Lay and find out what the deal is.

It was weird, I was ready for the spiciness, but, it ended up tasting more like salt and vinegar chips with about the same spicy level as the 1st degree ones. I even ate the bag pretty fast too!

Confirmed on the salt and vinegar taste.

The vinegar hits first, then the salt.

I think they're a little bit hotter than 1st Degree Burn, but still tolerable.

I won't be buying any more 2nd Degree, because I can't stand the taste of vinegar.

So there's just 3rd Degree left to try.

I went to Target today and didn't see anything there. They had the spicy nacho Doritos, but that was it.

Cheetos Crunchy Wild Habanero not available in a 50 mile radius of me.

1st and 2nd Degree Burn Doritos should be available within a few miles, closest 3rd Degree is 23 miles.

Maybe I'll try to find the Doritos sometime this week.

Sorry guys... I used the link to find them in my area and just assumed you guys knew about it. Should have posted anyway. I will offer a caution, though. It lies. Sometimes it showed me stores that weren't there and other times it showed me stores that didn't have the chips at all (Clerks even said they didn't carry them).

As I posted on Twitter earlier, I was able to find the 99-cent bags of both 1st and 2nd degree burn Doritos at a local 7-Eleven. I had my best friend over for dinner and hanging out tonight, so after our dinner, we each tried one of each chip.

Initial reactions were that the 1st degree had a kick at the end, whereas the 2nd degree was initially hot and sweet, but wasn't bad. We agreed we could probably each eat half a bag of each. She had milk while she was eating hers, I had Sprite Zero (not a big fan of dark sodas in general).

I finished off the 1st degree ones first. What was eminently reasonable in the single-chip experience was something totally different when eating half a bag. ;) I felt like they had a slightly "sour" taste, and I had a little burn in my mouth when I finished them, but all in all, they were alright.

I tackled the 2nd degree ones next. Even in larger quantities, I found them sort of sweet, but the heat on them was much more noticeable. After finishing off that half bag, I finished my can of Sprite Zero and still needed more. So I poured a glass of milk and helped myself to a cornbread muffin (which I'd made earlier to go with the chili we ate for dinner).

All in all, I liked them both, but man does the impact intensify with more than 1 chip. ;) I think I'd eat them again, in single serving portions. I'd probably lean more to the 2nd degree, since even though they were hotter, I found the slightly sour taste with the 1st degree a little off-putting.

Are the habanero Doritos different from the 1st/2nd/3rd degree Doritos? If so I don't think I've ever seen a big bag of really hot Doritos in grocery stores near me.
