The interpretation of this rule:
3. You must draft TWO intellectual properties that have never been made into a movie.
In corner cases is left up to you and the voters.

yeah Im a little unsure of what to do about IP as well.
I found something very interesting but there was a movie made about it in 1984 which isnt even close to the book according to critics. I'd like to take that one crappy movie and turn it into a series of great movies.

Well, damn. That makes for a tough decision.
FWIW, as a voter, the rule says "made" - past tense. If something is in pre-production, 1) It isn't made yet, and 2) The vast majority of people who will be voting probably don't know that it's in pre-production. Just my take on it.

5.9. - Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time Series - Intellectual Property
15 books in the series translates to 15 epic movies, potentially on the LotR scale. Francis Ford Coppola and Ridley Scott have shown that they have the chops to handle an epic scale such as this and we view this series as our cash cow. Lots of fans of the book series and the genre right now is hot, hot, hot. See LotR, Chronicles of Narnia, just to name a couple.

I went back and forth on this for the longest time. But on the other hand, the rights were purchased in 2008. It's 2010 and they still don't have a writer or a director for the first film, as far as I know, so it's still in Pre-Production.
For that epic a series, I'll roll the dice on it.

5.10 Victor Fleming, Director, Golden Age
Had a large body of work, but what deserves mentioning is the fact that he directed "Gone With the Wind" and "The Wizard of Oz" in the same year--both of which drastically changed the face of American cinema. If I want anyone to direct a profitable big budget film and have it stand the test of time, it'd be this guy. Imagine what he could do with today's technology...
6.1 Will Smith, Lead Actor
How many actors do you know that you can cast in a comedy, a drama, an action adventure, or a biopic and expect an average 132 million dollar box office take, and, depending on the movie, Oscar consideration to boot. If I'm starting a studio, Will Smith is my moneymaker.

Uh, if it was made into a movie it was made into a movie. Seems cut and dry to me.

There could be indy films on certain IP's, there could be storylines loosely based on certain IP's, and there could be movies in some form of production on IP's. Intellectual Property itself is a very loose term.

Wade, I have no idea where you get that I was saying the picks shouldn't be qualified. On the contrary, I'm not sure how much clearer I could have been in saying they should be allowed, it is just my own personal opinion of those picks.
Now if you think my personal opinion is twisted that is fine, I have many twisted opinions, but you are making it sound like I am campaigning that these picks shouldn't be allowed, and it is quite the opposite.
