Season 4.1-good to very good
4.2-meh, I'm guessing they bundled it with the premiere cause it sucked. Way too much exposition.
Season 4.3-I'm in again. Also hello Farrah, hello.

Enough out there right to keep me going. Hopefully they don't turn this into some Quinn/Carrie fuckfest.

Also if I never see Dana Brody again, it will still be too soon. Pakistani kid wanna be doctor is a really good actor.

(Did not know Pakistan is an Acronym. Kind of funny)

It was the best show on television for 1 season. They never should have let Brody live at the end of Season 1. The love story dragged on and they got away from the spying. If they go right back into a new love triangle it'll be the end of the series.

So I basically dropped out last season - is it worth marathoning through that shit-show and catching back on?

I'm pretty fine with crazy Carrie. I think it's on the right track.

I was back. I was IN, baby. This season was really good - not Season 1 or 2 outstanding, but good as in "better than most dramas on TV currently" good. The story was compelling, the characters are great, it was progressing beautifully...

and then they blew it all to smithereens at the end of the last episode.

It's gone....it's all gone....

Carrie Mathieson is not good at her job.

At all.

The last two episodes have been season 1 quality. Great stuff.

Agreed. Was just bumping this. I didn't even have an issue with the Brody stuff. Once it was clarified she was on a massive hallucinogen it made sense. They're trying every week. We need more Fara though.

Not really the best of advertising for ZTE this week.

I think we're back.

What happened at the end? F. Murray Abraham switched sides or is captured?

Or a double agent.

Ok. He's so barely a character I had a "wtf was that" moment.

Or a double agent.

But hasn't Dar (I think that is his name) been out in the open at some pretty high profile events in Washington DC? You would think the Taliban group would have decent enough intelligence to know who he is. Or do you mean a double agent working against the United States?

Well I was thinking he'd be a double agent that was pretending to be turned. But has he really been that out in the open? He was the guy that the CIA was using to make sure Brody was assassinated. Even Carrie didn't know who he was. He helped Saul out in S3, but all of that was internal CIA stuff.

Yeah thinking about it you are probably right. I kind of remembered him being at those "cocktail parties" and memorials that Carrie would argue with Saul or the CIA director but maybe I am mixing him up with Saul.

I guess that was a satisfying and downplayed conclusion, although I kept expecting something bad to happen.

Feel like they can do whatever they'd like for next year, whether it's kill Quinn offscreen or perhaps pick this up a year or three in the future when the baby is bigger.

Ugh - way to crap on a great season - what a turd of a season ender...

BUT...I guess they were more interested in setting up season 5

But this is about the Homeland - no one gives a shit about the baby, or dear old dead dad, or crazy mom, or any of that garbage.

Yeah, the finale was a real disappointment after 3 or 4 fantastic episodes.

No, the shows about Carrie, and to a lesser extent, Saul. Protecting the "homeland" is the setting, it's what they do, but the show has always clearly been about the main characters, which included Brody until last year.

Without a doubt, this was my fav season. What a fantastic story arc going into next year. I have no earthly idea where it will pick up, but I'm very excited for it.

More to the point, this season was fantastic until Carrie stood up on the goddamn car in episode 13 foiling Quinn's plan

I kinda feel like all the Pakistan stuff was over last week. I'm not really sure how else they could have ended the season. And Rebhorn was great in his moments as Carrie's dad, no real problem with taking some time for him. I'm assuming they're setting up an arc for next year where some time has passed. Maybe Carrie is married eeven, Saul is back in, and somehow Quinn's open ended mission will set up some sort of Syria/Israel angle for season 5. I see being pissed but I feel like Quinn going solo Rambo wasn't in the cards.

Finally ran through my DVR. What a fantastic season minus the finale which was very anti-climatic.

Hopefully this group of writers come back for season 5.

Hey so did anyone watch season 5? I was pretty entertained. Granted I watched it all over the weekend. Could certainly see being annoyed with week to week cliffhangers. It certainly felt a lot more like spy stuff this season.

GF and I knocked out Season 5 last weekend. We enjoyed it quite a bit. GF was a little peeved about Quinn as she likes him a lot. I do too, for that matter.

I agree that it felt much more spyrific and we enjoyed that. Our least favorite season was whatever season they tried to do the teenage love story.

It has apparently been renewed for season 6 with

Quinn might be back in some fashion but not as a super black ops guy. GF looked that up over the weekend.

I watched it and liked it for the most part. Thought the ending was pretty anticlimatic though for all the build up.

Quinn is my favorite character and Carrie is my least favorite. I feel like the show might be better off just dumping Carrie and doing new storylines with largely new casts every season. Maybe just keep Sal and Dara Dahl as constants.

Couldn't agree more. GF and I actually both have Quinn as our favorite character and Carrie is our least favorite as well. I would not be opposed to doing a season based solely on Quinn in an earlier timeline with a story arc surrounding him and his crew and Dar Adal.

I am very much over the love/hate Saul and Carrie relationship though.

Liked the season a lot. Agreed about the ending though; it's like they took the popular move of...penultimate episode being the big one, and the finale being more low key...and turned the knob on that style up to 14. The final 45 minutes or so was a complete snoozefest.

I enjoy the show but as others have said, it seems they are having to come up with more and more tortured ways to have Carrie be the main character - be better to use the existing universe and some of the characters and start fresh.

I know most of you stopped watching this show years ago, but the final season is pretty awesome so far, and is especially coming into its stride mid-season. It seems like most of the critics think so too. I don't think you even have to have seen the previous recent seasons (which I barely remember), to get into this one.

We picked up Showtime free with my wife's AT&T account. She wanted to watch Ray Donovan.

So, I decided to watch this as well. I hadn't finished the first season years ago. I'm about 6 episodes into the second season now and it's fairly decent. I'm interested to see how it manages to last as long as it has.

Sad to see this series end. Homeland is probably the only show ever to be as great as any series in history it's first season, then nosedive into oblivion in subsequent seasons, only to rise from the ashes and put together several outstanding seasons to finish things off. This last season was very very good (not great) and the last episode tied a pretty nice bow on the series. That they couldn't have worked in The Americans somehow was personally disappointing - they seriously couldn't have had a travel agent in Falls Church somehow? - but overall very satisfying and worth watching the entire series and not giving up. Saul Berensen is on my short list of favorite TV characters ever.
