Adrian Peterson is not human. Rodgers has had chances vs the Bears defense and has missed. Would be nice if GB defense could tackle and Crosby should be put out to pasture.

Why are the Vikings passing? Only bad thing that let the Rams back in the game can happen from pass plays.

It's AP and the defense stomping them, Ponder isn't doing shit besides turning TD chances into FGs and nearly getting receivers killed.

By my math, Houston, Baltimore and Green Bay can all win their divisions today with a simple win. San Francisco also needs a Seattle loss to secure the division title. Atlanta is in position to lock up a bye, potentially home field advantage if both Green Bay and San Francisco lose.

Peterson-1712 with 2.5 games lef.

Rodgers and Jones have taken over the game. One more LOL Cutler INT and this one will be over. These teams like Chicago and Baltimore have to realize that you can have as many different O-Coordinators as you want, it's all about QB play and that's why they'll never win a Superbowl with their current QB situation.

Washington better div record
Radii
12-16-2012, 03:12 PM
Washington better div record
If they both win out, yes. Washington's final two games are both against division opponents, only one of the Giants games is against a division opponent, so they could both finish 9-7 with the same division record if it plays out just right. Next tiebreaker is record vs common opponents, not sure how that one goes.
Matthean
12-16-2012, 03:15 PM
Washington better div record
So the Giants might not even make the playoffs if they win their last two and can essentially be out if they lose at Baltimore next week.

Packers clinch another division title but made it much harder than it had to be thanks to the triumvirate of McCarthy, Crosby and Ryan Grant. They won't be as fortunate in the playoffs to go up against teams as inept offensively as the Bears. Hopefully NE can win tonight giving the Packers a good chance at #2 seed. If NYG doesn't make the playoffs that eliminates their biggest competition.
larrymcg421
12-16-2012, 03:23 PM
Yeah, there's no scenario for NYG to win a tiebreaker against WAS. They will be behind in division record in any combination of games where they end up tied.
It gets more complicated if there's a three way tie with Dallas. The first tiebreaker is combined games among the three teams.
Right now:
Dallas: 1-2
Giants: 2-2
Washington: 2-1
If Washington beats Dallas in week 17 then they will win the three way tiebreaker as well. If Dallas beats Washington, but loses week 16, while Washington wins week 16 and Giants split their final two, then it goes to 2nd tiebreaker and Giants are eliminated by division record. Then it reverts to the two team tiebreaker between Dallas and Washington and goes to team with best record in common games, which I'm too lazy to look up.
Jas_lov
12-16-2012, 03:31 PM
NYG have 3 division losses, Washington only has 1 so there's really no way for NYG to win the tiebreaker. Redskins would need to lose their last two and go 8-8. If that's the case then NYG would need to split their last two and go 9-7 to beat Washington outright. If NYG also lost their last 2 and went 8-8 then that would mean they lost to Philly giving them their 4th division loss.

Btw, not worth getting into the argument, but games like today are why people have so much trouble buying into Eli being an "elite" QB. Just so schizophrenic.

At 10-6 the Dallas-Washington winner will be ahead of NYGiants.
At 9-7 If Dallas beats Washington, Dallas is ahead on common games*. If Washington beats Dallas, Washington is ahead on division record. NYGiants will be behind the others no matter what happens from here on.
* Common games tie-breaker for the NFC East teams is all results minus the games vs NFC North and NFC West opponents. Dallas has that one locked up (Chi L, Sea L), 1 game better than Washington (Min W, StL L) and 2 better than NYGiants (GB W, SF W), if tied in total W/L after 16 games.

Yeah, looks like they'll score another 50+ today, lol. What the Bears have going for them is games at Arizona and at Detroit, two they can still win even with their struggles against better teams. If they go 10-6 it puts the pressure on the other 8-6 teams to win out. Giants have to play Baltimore, Dallas and Washington play each other, and the Vikings have to play at Houston and home vs GB. Chicago still has a good shot at #6 seed.

Also, I believe the Patriots set a post-merger NFL record for points in consecutive games with 108 a couple weeks ago. After last week's 58-0 shellacking and this week's fast start Seattle is at 89 mid 2nd-quarter vs. the Bills. I know Football Outsiders' metrics have loved them all year, but I didn't buy them being quite this good.

Are those two the frontrunners for MVP with Brady and Rodgers 3 and 4? I think if the Vikings make the playoffs and AP breaks the rushing record he'll win the MVP. They have no passing game. ROY is also very interesting as it's looking like Luck, RG3 and Wilson might make the playoffs.

If Indy makes it and they should, Luck wins it. Cousins filled in for RGIII. Seattle has Flynn. Luck has to perform for Indy to do anything. Luck also led his team to a likely +8 change in wins vs. maybe +5 for RGIII one of which he didn't play, and +4 at most for Wilson. Indy has the 8th most passing yards. Washington is 21st. Seattle is 29th. Washington is #1 in rushing. Seattle is #4. Indy is #22.

ROY is also very interesting as it's looking like Luck, RG3 and Wilson might make the playoffs.I think Brady is right there 1A/B/C. 10 picks for Manning vs. 4 for Brady. We'll see - all 3 have major storylines to play out in the next 2-3 weeks. AP needs the Vikings to make the playoffs (and probably needs to break Dickerson's record to have a chance), Manning and Brady are fighting for at least a bye if not homefield - if Brady looks as good vs. SF's defense as he did in last week's primetime showdown vs. Houston I think he's the frontrunner. He's also been doing it without either Hernandez or Gronkowski almost all season.

Yeah, but the other two are also putting up pretty good numbers and not turning it over as much. Luck has more passing yards but RG3 has 500 more rushing yards. Luck also throws a lot more passes so teams expect the pass much more. Luck isn't as gifted as a runner so it is one less thing to worry about. Washington still scored 38 points with their backup rookie QB. Sure, Seattle is putting up a stupid amount of points against bad teams, but it kind of helps having a coach run fake punts when you are up 30. For how good Seattle is suppose to be, there are bad loses in there with the good wins. I just think Luck has brought his team further along than the other two have. Some of that so called luck in close games is due to, you know, Luck. :D

That Gore fumble recovery run for TD is going to be a fantasy football scoring nightmare in the playoffs.
Since it was a fumble, it is not rushing yards nor a rushing TD. It is an offensive fumble recovery TD, so it doesn't count as a defensive score either. In the ESPN leagues I'm in, it currently counts as nothing.
I'm in a league on MyFantasyFootball.com, and it actually accounts for offensive fumble recovery TDs and awards the points to the offensive player, but not the recovery yards.
Weird play. Even more weird than Aldon Smith picking off a pass.

49ers fumbled six times and only lost one. That is easily the difference in the game. Patriots recover two more of those, especially considering where they happened and they win.
49ers were better in the first, patriots in the second. Kapernick threw for 4 TDs in the rain on the road. kind of hard to doubt him.
