I'm not quite sure why it gets under your skin so much, especially given comments others have made about participation on the boards coming back after a bit of a dip. I agree with this line of thinking. I was pretty sure, however, that I'm about the only person around here that likes the idea of not lynching on D1 as a way to build up voting history without offing a probable villager. Perhaps, though, when combined with this perk:

it would become more appealing to somebody to cancel the day/night. That quoted section also leads me to believe that our seer will get a scan tonight, FWIW--good to stay one step ahead of the wolves. But the Grandpa play also leads me to wonder what villager role is out of play, given this:

Wow, I can barely read this page. Could've used CF and Danny to get us to a new one.

I think it makes a lot of sense for Grandpa to use the power now. There's no guarantee they would live til tomorrow, all the wolf roles are still in the game so it messes them up to the maximum, and Westley/Inigo presumably get their scans so it's just a free day for us. The way the role was written, I figured the lynch would've been revealed though, which would've given us more info for today.

Interesting, I also thought the lynch was revealed if Grandpa used his power, but I think I was recalling the iocane powder which reads - If the original lynch target (the holder of the powder) survives his role/allegiance will still be announced.

Even though we don't know anything about the D1 candidates yet, the vote history is still valuable, whichever direction it ends up going tomorrow. "No wolf action that night" also suggests that there are a couple of free villager scans, almost like D0 scans but not random, woo!

Looking at ti very generally we had two folks far in the lead, votes moved from both of them to push a third into place. So it's unlikely the issue is someone saving a wolf--if so they would have pushed the other contender, not a third, at least to some degree. So I think we just have some villager movements (not to say there might not have been a wolf on the block, but doesn't look like an obvious save). I think we'll do better looking at posts than the votes themselves, on this day.

It's not unheard of for a wolf to save another wolf with a last minute move but it would have to be an important wolf to risk tying themselves that closely together. So I take back my fontisian vote. I agree, I don't see why we would ignore it. True, we don't know much about the people involved in the vote, but considering only Grandpa knew there wasn't going to be a lynch, everyone basically played it straight as if it were a real day. We have to make assumptions at this point though. Was there a wolf in the top vote getters or not? If yes, then we have to figure out who would be the most likely wolf based on movement and such and either vote them if there's a reasonable case to be made or find a suspicious vote changer. If not, then we probably would do best to look at early or middle voters looking to establish the candidates or drop a safe vote on someone likely to be a leading contender.

I kind of went a bit away from those ideas because I don't enjoy being in a situation late in the game where we have to figure out people that we have little to no information on due to lack of posts and missing votes. Though I will say based on what I've seen from now since last night, I think DQ is likely to be more active going forward than he was D1.

It's not number, it's just involvement. A wolf who never talks, or never says anything related to the game, never has to lie. So it's in our best interest for villagers to make as many relevant comments about the game as possible to give us somsething to vote on.

Look at things from a different perspective though. These games are all about figuring out who's telling the truth, who's lying, finding the wolves when you're a villager, and deceiving the villagers when you're a wolf. It's very hard to figure out someone who doesn't post very much because the only information you have to go on is who they voted for and their reasoning and trying to figure out what it means if they receive votes. No one is saying one needs a level of Danny or Autumn, just that they be engaged in trying to help out their team.

Your point is basically correct that we didn't learn much about D1 yet, but the odds that we managed to get 2-3 wolves on the block (out of you, murra5y, and CW, the primary vote getters yesterday) in a game where there are almost certainly 4 to start is pretty remote (if you're a villager, you can even remove yourself from that equation), so it makes sense to get some other players in the mix and learn about them. If we only had villagers on the block D1, it would end up mostly being a waste of time to repeat the day.

Howzabout this. With 3 people on the block, there's a 12/19 chance of a wolf. But assuming there's a wolf on the block and a fairly close vote, might not other wolves try to manipulate the vote? That's why I posted the 7:30/9:00 analysis--I'm interested in the people who moved votes and altered the race in its homestretch.

Your point is basically correct that we didn't learn much about D1 yet, but the odds that we managed to get 2-3 wolves on the block (out of you, murra5y, and CW, the primary vote getters yesterday) in a game where there are almost certainly 4 to start is pretty remote (if you're a villager, you can even remove yourself from that equation), so it makes sense to get some other players in the mix and learn about them. If we only had villagers on the block D1, it would end up mostly being a waste of time to repeat the day.

The thing is JAG, if Katy is a wolf, the way you voted for her in the begining and switched off when she was put under pressure is pretty incriminating. I'd say that mauchow and Danny's votes also look pretty bad.

Thanks, I understand better where you're coming from now. I don't think I agree with your 12/19 number though. From a 'pick 3 out of 19 players with 4 being a wolf' I assume it's mathematically true, but there are probably four wolves out there who know who not to vote for. It happens on occasion we get lucky to get a wolf on the block D1, but not nearly so often as almost 2/3 of the time.

Also regarding being inactive, people are less active do generally get lynched earler, but they also usually dont get night killed as early so it works out.

Katy, I hope you keep playing, but it definitely is nice to get a certain level of activity and if not then votes are more likely to head your way (but again you are less likely to be night killed usually)

Even if she is a wolf, I disagree with that. I kept my vote on her the entire day and only moved when I saw something that looked inconsistent from Zinto. A post before I switched, I was actually arguing with Danny the other way around until I noticed the time stamps from Zinto and Katy. Regardless, the wolf roles are all pretty important this game moreso than a typical game where each doesn't have a power, so if I were a wolf, there's no way I would try to get in a good vote that early and risk getting one lynched.

It's not number, it's just involvement. A wolf who never talks, or never says anything related to the game, never has to lie. So it's in our best interest for villagers to make as many relevant comments about the game as possible to give us somsething to vote on.

For Katy and anyone else who is newer, this is the key point - a lot of times when you are a wolf you tend to overthink posts a lot more than as a villager, so the more posts people have to look at, the more reads they can get to go along with vote history. UTR (under the radar) wolves are very hard to pin down, and when they end up being villagers who didn't have time/forgot to post, it wastes days. And the later on in the game you get the less wasted days you can afford!

That's why it's best to get people talking early.. try not to see it as personal attacks. :)

It has been fairly quiet today. I am not likely going to vote for Katy if she does not check in, same goes for Julio and DQ who I also believe have not checked in.

I am probably going to move my vote to Katy before I go to work so we can have some cushion away from a tie. That is going to be in about five to ten minutes.

Yes. With so many ways of protecting potentially in the game (Miracle Max and Fezzik capable of protecting, the Holocaust Cloak, and Westley's one-time ability), as a wolf I would not want to risk losing the brutal wolf until I knew a good target for the brutal.

My reasoning is what I stated at the beginning of the day. PF, CW, murrayyyyy, Katy, and mauchow all at one point yesterday had multiple votes. You were one of the only candidates that did not. You also didn't have a vote, which makes it more difficult to analyze you later. That's why I put my vote on you to start the day. My gut hasn't given me any suspicious reads of folks to this point and there hasn't been much to analyze without a lynch / night kill so I haven't moved it.
