Is anyone consistently experiencing a hang/non-response when launching the game, and it's not due to administrative privileges, and they're willing to be a bit of a guinea pig? I'd like to quash this problem once and for all.

I haven't been able to start the trial. I get this error message each time i try to start.

Could you email your ticket number from the auto-response from eLicense to Solecismic support (email address in the FAQ)? If you didn't receive an auto-response with a ticket number, let us know what you did to try and contact ViaTech and I will forward that information.
Silver Owl, that sounds like a permissions problem of some sort. Did you install to the default directory?

I'm attempting to use the demo & am not able to start a new game. Whenever I initiate a new game, I select the new game settings but the 'ok' button never becomes available for me to click. The only thing I can do is click 'cancel.'
Am I doing something wrong?

Double-check the league ID you entered to start the game (very top box). If it isn't a valid eight characters, the "ok" button will not become available. It also could be that the demo expired, but this sounds more like an invalid league ID.

Yes, the only thing changed from the default is the drive.

I'm running windows 7. I have the "run this program as an administrator" box checked but I got the error each time I tried to start the program. The box would come up to chose trial, purchase, or license. Each time I clicked trial I would get the error and the runs left dialog would decrease by one.

FOF2k7 licensed fine on the same PC.I think this is the issue I had. (I definitely had the "it thinks I have no internet connection" part. Not 100% sure it was "code 12.") I solved it by going through the offline license process.

Yabanci; this may should stupid but I don't have a league ID. I assumed this could be played offline, single player style w/ computer AI. If so, what do I use for a league ID?

The League ID is basically the name of the league you are creating. It has to be eight characters. It serves as the name of your saved game file.
Like ROHRGAME or something. You have to make one up to start a new game.

Yes, there's text on the league ID box indicating how many characters are needed to constitute a league ID.
I've sent ViaTech the diagnostic information from tzussu. At the point where it hangs, it hasn't even tried to run any FOF7 code. So it's not the kernel race condition that I might have been able to avoid by redoing a couple of things.

ViaTech's response is to suggest copying the mscvr71.dll from the installation directory into C:\\Windows (or Windows\System32, or Windows\SysWOW64) if it isn't already there. This makes sense, but I'd really rather see mscvr71.dll functionality built directly into the wrapper.

This might need to be in C:\Windows. I'm not sure that the wrapper checks the other locations. If that's the case, you might be able to copy the msvcr71.dll from C:\Windows\SysWOW64 into C:\Windows.
Let me know if that works for anyone running into this issue.

Is there a way to reset the runs temporarily? I am unable to try and see if the dll file will fix my problem.

No. I couldn't even do it with my own computer during testing, and it would have been nice to have that ability.
However, if you can see enough to know your demo has expired, then this isn't related.

When I click on the game Icon on the desktop I get the little thing like its trying to load, lasts about a second and then nothing. I have tried everything..been going thru FAQ and all possible fixes in forums, still nothing!
I downloaded the college years demo and it works no problem! Wish I was a little more cpu savvy! :(

I got the game to open and a new league started (National). I am trying to play as a single player. Chose KC as my team and entered my name made choices on the yes/no buttons. I launched the game to play but all boes are empty. It says Preseason 2013 Email 2. The following boxes are all empty

Short version: played demo for 1 day, purchased game (registered etc), next day I started game I received message that demo would expire in 2 more days, league year changed from 2014 to 1492, next day had to register game again, no more "demo running out errors" but every single roster transaction is interrupted with pop-up stating "Unable to load past season data file. Saved game is missing." I have done any modification to the game, the season, the year, etc..... This is infuriating :banghead:

I am surprised anyone has run into the 1492 issue. If a saved game is saved in that state, unfortunately it can't be fixed, but a new career should work.
I've tried to reach footballjones, but he hasn't responded. This is code that should be run only when a hack attempt is determined. But from his description, that seems unlikely. I wonder, when I hear about people using reshacker, if that will trigger problems. I need to find someone who can duplicate this issue who is willing to run diagnostic code.
I am holding 7.0a and the graphics update until this is resolved with ViaTech.

Got an issue.. Demo played fine, bought the game and it worked fine up until yesterday when I tried to run it and got a blurb that version 7a stopped working. Uninstalled and reinstalled it and same issue. Any ideas?

EDIT: Strange...Reinstalled it all again and same issue. On the off chance I changed compatability settings to WinXP SP3 and the damn thing worked.

Weird MP issue I am running into - whenever I import the newest stage, it goes through it's business, I get the message saying the import was complete and it will reload. I hit OK. It starts to reload - then it crashes. I start the game back up, open up the same league, and the new files are there. Haven't had any issues exporting at all either. This has happened three days in a row now, so I can't imagine it's a coincidence. Anyone else seen this? I forgot to grab the error report, but I will do that if/when it happens again tomorrow.

I got the same issue again this morning on my WinXP machine. When I ran the same test yesterday on my Win7 machine, I had no problem.

its fine, I have the issue how much memory that's the issue.
When the game tries to restart while open after the upload it crashes. Open the game back up after and your good to go.
Just a little of a pain that you need to restart the game is all.

I'm trying to be patient, had trouble getting the game to work when I first purchased, did fixes...haven't played for quite awhile and now getting this "The application was unable to start correctly (0x0000005) click ok to close application" I don't know what kind of problem this is, i deleted old files, re-downloaded...reading faq, trying a few things i can understand, but not sure it is a permission issue....need help

Same as a couple of other posts below:
Believe I may have mentioned this once before but it is an on-going issue that I and a couple of other GM's in the TFL are having. I have the latest update and when I start a multi-player game where I DL the file the game will give me the prompt that the file DL'd fine but when it attempts to restart the game I receive an a Windows problem and the game shuts down. I manual restart on my part works fine with the DL'd information available. I have not had any issues uploading files. This happens on both a clean game file as well as a graphically modified file.
As I mentioned there are at least 3 of us with the same issue.
Another data point. There was a point after my initial reinstallation of the latest patch that the game seemed to execute fine for about 3-5 DL's then began failing again. If I am correct the others I mentioned with the same issue may have had this same occurrence.

Have you tried plugging headphones or speakers in an audio jack?

To echo comments made repeatedly, a forum is a terrible place for bug reporting. I can't read everything, and, as I've found many times in the last couple of months, people don't look at the items again, so they can't respond to my requests for clarification. The format also lends itself to short problem descriptions that require significant clarification.
Crashes are often easy to diagnose if (and only if) they are repeatable. I can say that I've never seen a crash caused by exporting a league created in 7.0 after applying 7.0a. But I'm guessing Firefly wouldn't report a crash that never happened.
Right now, I have 7.0b ready, primarily for the open-game crash. All I'm waiting for is for ViaTech to get back to me with information as to why a couple of people are still running into licensing issues. I don't intend to patch FOF7 again. If there's a problem in the export, I'd like to get it now.
Anyway, if this isn't a case where the data is intentionally corrupted (the big ViaTech issue fixed in 7.0a) I'd appreciate it if Firefly could contact customer support with more information.

Fortunately, this is a bug that was fixed in 7.0a (though it will remain until the end season following the upgrade from 7.0). Thanks for sending over the information.
This is a bug that would effectively prevent export of data until the next end season is reached (no way to fix it otherwise), so it's fairly serious. It has actually been in the game for at least a couple of major releases, though it only caused minor cosmetic problems until the export function was written.

I was having this same exact problem. I had to completely uninstall my Comodo Antivirus/Firewall to get the game to work. FOF7 now launches without a problem.

I sent in a license request yesterday morning, sure seems like a long time to receive a response. Totally BS, loading a patch, and needing your order ID, than having a problem, the game is useless, I am in a league and can not participate. This will be the last time I purchase anything from e license. Sorry to vent, but the lack of customer service is not what I expect as I have many game titles and this is bad.:mad:

The app will not run - it tries and then dies. And I get the following error message when I try to install or uninstall the program:
"Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one."

I cannot get this game to launch on window 7. I installed it on another computer I have running windows vista and it launch no problem. Any tips for getting the game running in Windows 7? I followed the FAQ and am computer literate, but nothing I do can get this game to run.

trying to upgrade from 7.0a to 7.0b and get windows installer error "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" with a browser box to manually locate it.
I have tried both the Solecismic website download and the resource thread download here.
Any ideas?
Never mind I was able to run it on a different computer and copy the folder over.

I tried deleting a saved game via the in-game menu but it still shows up and I am unable to create a new game with that file name nor can I load that saved game as it shows it is deleted. The file seems to be there but not there.
So I am trying to locate my saved game folder to manually delete the "deleted" save and am unable to do so. I looked at the FAQ on Solecismic but I cannot find the Tools menu --> Folder Options --> View Tab --> Hidden Files and Folders.
I run Windows 7.
Anyone know what I am missing/doing wrong? Is there a corrupted file? I tried unlicensing, uninstalling, and reinstalling but the files haven't changed.

Try opening a folder, going to the address bar, and typing:
%appdata%
you can then go to
Solecismic Software\Front Office Football Seven\leagues
and delete the league folder in there. If that doesn't work, the error message you get will be instructive.

My Roster and Stats Buttons stopped working. The rest of em work. I've tried changing the resolution and DPI around with no luck. They don't work in either league that I have up, so I'm guessing something happened within the game itself. Any thoughts on what I can try next?

Just downloaded the new version of the game for the first time since 2007 through Steam. Seems to have installed ok, but I can't start a new game. The "OK" is greyed out and no matter what I do in the New Game pop-up... it won't work.. help?

Hi.
FOF7 was working fine yesterday, but today it won't load. (Version C)
Windows 7 laptop.
When I click on the FOF7 icon I get "The application was unable to start correctly (0cx0000005)." I only get this error for fof7. Other applications appear to be fine.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled FOF7, run anti-malware in regular and safe mode, and run a virus scan. I checked and deleted any windows updated that might have loaded overnight. I even tried a system restore from yesterday (when it worked). No luck.
Any help/advice is appreciated.

Ive been running FOF7 for about a month with no problems at all. I changed nothing in my computer setup and all of a sudden when I try to run it I get
"In order to finish initializing, this application must be first run by a user with administrative privileges"
I've tried running as administrator and I get no response at all. I've tried compatibility mode but get the same error.

Figured it out. It was this:
To ensure the Control Service is running, access your Windows Control Panel, then Administrative Tools, then open Services. Make sure the "LicCtrl" service is set to "Automatic" and has a status of "Started". Some optimization software disables the license control, and the Control Service needs to be white-listed.

I'm having an issue loading my online lge files. The files are fine as I can load them at work. but my home PC starts as if importing them but never succeeds I finally (after 30+ minuets) get a import failed message
Its been working fine this just started a few days ago
I have since un installed and re installed (making sure all traces of the lge folder and files have gone but the problem persists
I have the viatech version windows 10
Any help would be greatly appreciated this is killing the game for me

I'm trying to setup a multiplayer save but running into some problems.
I'm opening the game through Wine on Mac OS X. After I do the step of initial game setup, I receive this error "Import Failed. Files were downloaded, but there wasn't a saved game available to load."
Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

I wish I could be more help. I'm a bit of a novice, I switched my setup to win10.
Wine has some sort of a directory setup when you install the program. There's a file manager that shows your directory tree, et al. Just wondering if something in that setup is kinda screwy.
Other thought would be to try VMware if you have a win license. If you're running the steam version I don't really have an idea.
If you can figure out where exactly the MP files are saved in the wine directory tree you'll have more luck. I'd suggest starting a solo career, saving it, then finding that career folder and making sure that the MP folder is also in that directory as well. I had a sitch where I could never figure out exactly where a solo career was saved so I had no ability to move it. Subsequent careers were fine, wondering if it's similar to your plight.

i use wine also. i never figured out how to import mp games directly in game. i use an ftp program (filezilla) to manually download the latest files outside the game.
exporting in game works fine though.
just use all the import settings your league provided in filezilla and you'll be fine.

ThanksFor a while (month or so?) there was the option to turn in your previous license for a Steam key. The deadline for doing that was maybe 9-10 months ago. At this point you'd just have to buy it through Steam.

Just by coincidence I just bought a new PC today and was hoping to unlicensed and reinstall...any ideas?

I have run out of licenses for my game, could I get 2 or 1 more. I've gotten a few pcs since buying the game and I like it on all of my devices because some don't travel with me. Thank you and great game. :)

This forum is not run by Solecismic Software (the developer) or by elicense (the company who manages the licensing). It's just run by fans and enthusiasts. So...tough for us to help you with your customer support questions.
My best guess (and I think I'm right here) is that your best "free" answer is going to be: unlicense on the machines where you are done for a while, re-license on the one you need right now, and so forth. Imperfect, but doesn't cost you aby dollars, just some hassle.
The best "costs you something" answer is probably to buy the Steam version.

I sent in a license request yesterday morning, sure seems like a long time to receive a response. Totally BS, loading a patch, and needing your order ID, than having a problem, the game is useless, I am in a league and can not participate. This will be the last time I purchase anything from e license. Sorry to vent, but the lack of customer service is not what I expect as I have many game titles and this is bad.:mad:
