Something rotten in Toonsville GAME OVER

I will add more details but feeling out the interest.

Quick summary:

When you sign up pick a cartoon character that you want to identify with. Your character will be posted with your signup. Aiming more for Saturday morning type cartoons.

The game will be a sort of normal WW game but it will be an evolving game which will also, hopefully, tell a story.

Rules will be posted as they become official (which would also mean during the game as a new rule may be added based upon a triggered event or timing).

Roles will also fall in line with how the game plays out.

There will be special abilities and a couple items (the number of each will be determined by the number of players).

I plan on starting the game on 5/5 if we have enough people. I may be travelling for work on the week of 5/12 but that shouldn't cause too many issues other than a few times where I will be too tied up with work to look at the site during the daytime hours; or if travel extends into any deadline hours but I will adjust accordingly if that will be the case.

General Rules

Deadline Type: One deadline a day which covers day and night actions

Deadline: 10 PM EST

Days or Play: Monday through Friday; Weekends off (or count as a really long Monday, depends on how you want to think of it)

Goal: To win the game

Voting: Bold your vote (vote EagleFan) within its own post; makes it easier to count instead of finding it in the middle of a post; any vote that is not in a post of its own will not count; if you wish to explain your vote do so in the next post (or previous post, however you see fit)

Tie votes: In the extremely rare event of a tie (extremely rare I say); a random selection between the players that are tied will occur AND the following - if all players have voted the last player to vote will be killed off, if not all players have voted than any player who didn't vote will be killed off.

Edit of Post: Don't! An edit of a post counts as a vote for you.

Introduction

"Dad, it is real! It is where the cartoons go after the show is over. They have to live somewhere." Little Johnny says with wide eyed wonder as his father looks on with a parents love and a bit of dismissiveness.

"If you insist Johnny. But I have never heard of Toonsville." Johnny's father replied as he poured tiny O's into a bowl. As he handed the bowl to Johnny he paused and stared off slightly into the past. The moment was fleeting as he shook his head and grabbed the milk. "Wait, you need this too; not just cereal and sugar."

"I know they live there, they all live together like one big happy family."

Oh, the innocence of a child. It was quite refreshing.

"Time to shut off that television!" A high pitched voice exclaims. "You have been watching that show long enough, what could be so entertaining?"

"They are funny. They do so many things that we would never do."

"You know it can't be real. You saw last week when that person got hurt tripping over a shoelace. Who gets hurt like that without popping back up?"

"But uncle, they even mentioned us. They know about us."

"I bet they do." The uncle's shadow comes into view with the duck bill quite pronounced. "Go outside and play, you can watch Johnny and his dad on TV anytime. Get some exercise, just stay out of trouble."

You are a vanilla villager in Toonsville. Things can change at any moment as normal rules don't always apply in Toonsville as they do in our reality.

Day 0

Something is wrong. You cannot see the other world through your televisions while in Toonsville but that is not the overwhelming feeling of dread that has encompassed the town... The portal which carried every true toon from their homes in Toonsville to their Day Jobs in The Tube(something 'humans' call cartoons).

You are trapped as you see the portal showering the area with sparks and smoke slowly rising from it. Did something happen to it? Was it an accident? Was it destroyed on purpose?

While your body refreshes while in Toonsville, you start to lose your special traits that make you one of a kind on the other side of the portal, in The Tube. You need that connection to live. You need that connection to make sense of your lives.

An all hands on deck call has gone out to find someone who has the power to fix the portal. Everyone currently believes it was an accident so suspicion is not high but everyone is aware of that possibility. Though who would do anything like this? Why?

Election Day

With the first vote of the game given to him, Zinto has been elected as the Mayor of Toonsville. With this title will come some special rights and abilities.

He may be lynched and may be night killed but each will be a challenge as politicians know how to work the system in many ways.

Other news has been discovered. The engineer is working on the portal and there is a missing part which has not been accounted for. If it had been found the portal would have been restored night 0 but that has pushed the ETA back to the Day 1 deadline.

All important decisions related to Day 0 have been made. The portal is still being worked on and you have no access to The Tube. A new mayor had been elected and his reign has begun.

The deadline for Day 1 is 10 PM EST on Monday night. Time to start finding out who is good and who is not so good. :)

1) Will have to think on this. If we think the Mayor is a standard vote switch, maybe the doctor or nurse can target someone (presumably one-time if the sheriff is the BG) to prevent a NK or lynch with healing or some such. Maybe one of them can put someone to sleep for a day to prevent posting.

2) Guess we'll find out tomorrow ;)

3) I'm thinking the portal is more of a bull moose type event, maybe random, maybe a bonus for the side that helps fix it? Or maybe the bad guys don't want to fix it, hard to say at this point.

Each deadline will consist of a story write up followed by a game summary of events and any important information or decisions for the next day.

Many of the toons are getting restless with the Portal being broken as many love going to The Tube for their "day job". The tension seems to be building as the hours roll past with the engineer working tirelessly attempting to get the portal working again.

What does this mean? What happens if you can't make it back to The Tube? That is something that many have not thought of, or thought of the consequences of staying in one side or the other.

Then the portal starts to hum to life. It is fixed!!!! You may all go to The Tube tomorrow, there seems to be joy in Toonsville yet again. The Hulk starts to lead the group in singing joyous toons... though he only attempts to keep the melody while only saying HULK SMASH.

Then a flash... All the lights in Toonsville have gone out. The portal is no longer buzzing. Gasps and shock fill the air... amongst the gasps seem to be a couple evil laughs. What evil has come to Toonsville?

Wait? What about our voting? Good question as it seems many didn't want to vote based on the standard Toonsville voting guidelines, it seems there were many Floridians present with hanging chads.

Well, since you really had no idea why you were voting at that time that you have decided that Hello Kitty is really cool. Congrats Hello Kitty, you have won the spontaneous vote of coolness. That may mean nothing at this time.

However, you now realize that you have a task ahead of you; you must find out who has sabotaged the portal. You decide that you will examine the evidence and will each vote today to narrow down the suspects as to who may be the saboteur.

With the portal down the saboteur(s) will gain an extra vote for Day 2.

Day turns to night and you awake with the entire group still intact. You have a goal today of fixing the portal. If you can fix the portal today the 'village' will gain an advantage on day 3.

A voting option of fix portal is now available. If fix portal has more votes than the 2nd highest vote getting player the portal will be fixed for da 3. See the summary for more details.

The portal was fixed but ultimately sabotaged again. No player was voted out, as you had no reason to remove anyone yet without knowing if there was sabotaged so you voted claphamsa as 'really cool'.

With the portal down for day 2 the saboteur(s) will gain an extra vote for day 2.

For day 2 you may vote to fix the portal. If that vote is higher than the second leading player the portal will not be able to be sabotaged at the day 2 deadline.

It should be. Autumn should have caught on that I made a controversial vote and then disappeared to work. Not too many wolves do that. Neither do roled villagers. Vanilla villagers trying to rile up some interest on an otherwise Day One might do that, which, in fact, is exactly the case here.

Since Autumn didn't learn that lesson, I'm going to assume he isn't inclined to learn it and has ulterior motives for continuing to vote me.

While I can't expect Autumn to know that I was at work (as I didn't offer that up until now), it is pretty clear in the aftermath that I:

1. Made a controversial vote, and
2. Was not around last night after voting

It's fairly reasonable to conclude that a wolf or a roled villager would not do that, or at the very least it would be pretty questionable to assume that person is indeed a wolf and must be worthy of still receiving a vote the next day, when all of this was clear.

Not metagamey at all. It is clear that I either was not around or not choosing to respond if I was around. I would guess most would presume I was not around, for whatever reason, rather than not choosing to respond. That's not metagamey, just fact.

We have only one clear roled player (note, not yet saying "villager"), and I voted for him. If someone chooses to not see that as controversial, that's on them, but I am pretty sure all of us would disagree with that person. If someone were to claim that, it would in fact be extremely suspicious (on top of the vote itself).

My reasoning on questioning Autumn at this point of the game is why he would choose to vote me again without choosing to hear from me. When he voted for me last night, he would not have known I would not respond (and thus was clearly not around). Now, he has that info, but he chose to vote me instead of making the logical conclusion I could not have acted the way I had as either a wolf or a roled villager. Since the unroled villager is all we are left to presume, his decision to vote for me anyway is a negative for the village.

Ergo, he is not acting the best interests of the village.

I was unlikely to change it even if I wasn't around. I wanted to know more about the Mayor position. I don't know that the Mayor is automatically a villager. Zinto was the first to be voted, and I believe we have saboteurs from the start. So there was every chance for Zinto to be a saboteur before he got the vote from Danny.

So the Mayor is not necessarily a villager role. It is just a role. I wanted to put pressure on that role, see what Zinto could do.

I didn't have a concrete goal. I was fishing. Applying pressure can sometimes get interesting results. I had no idea what, if anything, I would find. Either from Zinto reacting, or not reacting, or others reacting on Zinto's behalf.
