So larry screwed me over with his Austin Powers pick darnit! Now I'm going have to reach for a Parody.

6.2 The Pink Panther, Parody, 1960s

Not truly a spoof, but Inspector Clouseau is definitely a parody of the great detective movies of the 40s and 50s. And it set off a memorable franchise. My only regret is that Cato isn't in the first one.

Comedies aren't always a belly-full of laughs. That's where Dark Comedies come in to play. They make you laugh, right up to the minute they make you cry. This film is a perfect example.

6.3 - Life Is Beautiful, Dark Comedy, '95-99

Yes, it could be historical, but it's fits just as well as a Parody. Hey, it's what Mel Brooks does.

It tells the tale of the Little Tramp making his way to the gold mines of the Klondike in the late 1800s. I'm kinda with you on that. I actually thought about Inglorious Bastards for a War possibility early in the draft, before I remembered Good Morning Vietnam. I don't think IG is out of the question in a comedy draft.

Still alive so i thought id check in during dinner.

Well, someone stole my Happy Gilmore pick and I can't put a second Adam Sandler movie on the a greatest comedy list. Seems very wrong. Then I remembered this movie that fits my last categories perfectly.

10.10, Jerry Maguire, Sports, 1995-99

Now that all of the picks have been made, this is only fitting considering the first pick in the draft. :D

Yes?

About as dark as you can get

It does have probably my favorite movie quote of all time:

Honey: (Apologetically, holding up her brandy bottle) I peel labels.

George: We all peel labels, sweetie; and when you get through the skin, […] When you get down to bone […] There's something inside the bone…the marrow…and that's what you gotta get at.

Was, without a doubt, the most obvious number 1 pick. But that did mean it would go no 1, good job on grabbing it.

Nor should there have been a first nor should anyone put Adam Sandler in the same sentence with 'greatest' or 'comedy'. :p

So should we stump for our lists here or wait for a new voting thread? Vote for me!
