Great opportunity to jump in on a much improved product.

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 10:26 AM

Bump in case anybody missed it :)

PureSim for $14.95, what a great Father's Day gift ;)

Also, I am so confident that PS has the most realistic historical player results, that I'd love to have a suggestion or two for a season you guys would like to see simmed. Maybe I could then post the results?

Or we could pick a season, and folks could choose a team and their projected record, closest prediction gets a free copy?

Would like to see results for 1930 and 1968.

JPhillips 06-19-2011 10:32 AM

Glad I didn't buy Thursday when I thought about it.

Cool, I'll do 1930 first. Any predictions? :)

cubboyroy1826 06-19-2011 10:38 AM

I will take a stab at my Cubbies. Having very little knowledge of the 1930s but let's say 92-62 finishing first and taking the NL.

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 10:47 AM

July 1

Okay, it's July 1st 1930, here are a few quick screen shots (standings, AL/NL Batting leaders...)

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 10:54 AM

Update

September 4th 1930

Yanks running away with it in the AL, but super tight NL race...

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 11:05 AM

Our worst nightmare comes true, an all New York series! :)

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 11:08 AM

And the Giants upset the Yanks in 7 games!

Full stats uploading...

1968 up next, any predictions?

cubboyroy1826 06-19-2011 11:18 AM

Okay 1968 the year before the great Cubby collapse. I will go with Baltimore form the AL and the Cards from the NL. With the Cards winning it all in 6. My beloved Cubbies finishing 82-80 and finishing 4th.

rowech 06-19-2011 11:19 AM

I chose 1930 and 1968 because those are the two extremes. Your 1930 numbers (looking at league AVG, OBP, and SLG), unless they changed at the end, are low on offense across the board. It's not horrible by any means but it's off by a decent amount.

I'll be curious to see what happens with 1968.

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 11:26 AM

Here are the full 1930 results (Generated via the game's HTML Almanac feature)

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 11:37 AM

July 7th, 1968...

Looks like we'll need to lower the mound next year!

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 11:59 AM

Oops, deleted the wrong folder when uploading, we had to start 1968 again :) It is late September and we have some amazing races going!

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 12:06 PM

Alright, it's Det vs. SF in the series. Here are the results and a few quick peeks at AL Pitching and NL Batting leader boards:

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 12:14 PM

It's 2010 all over again in 1968, The Giants Win!

Check out Marichal's dominant WS CG clincher (he was 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA in the series). I can upload the full Almanac if anyone is interested, but it takes a while.

Misc shots, team batting and pitching results

'85 First then '80.

Predictions? Closest gets a free copy of the game (predict W/L record for any team from either year).

JPhillips 06-19-2011 01:38 PM

85 Reds - 86 wins

Mizzou B-ball fan 06-19-2011 01:39 PM

I already bought. I'll give free copy to my favorite FOFC member if I win.

'85 Royals 95-67

Quick PS4 question. My PS4 window overruns the monitor size on my laptop. Best way to adjust that? Option for full screen available?

The game wants at least 1024x768, but under "Options and Utilities" there is an option for "Scaled Mode" which could help depending on your laptop.

What is your desktop rez?

1366x768. It cuts off the bottom just below Wolverine Studios. I have to slide the window around to see 'A Shawn Sullivan Game'.

Maybe an issue with using another DPI than the default?

Sorry :) Windows allows custom "large font" settings as well as custom text sizes (DPI). I was wondering if maybe that was it.

Johnny93g 06-19-2011 02:11 PM

1985 eh, Blue Jays 100-62 and will win the world series. They won't screw up that 3-1 lead against the Royals this time!!

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 02:13 PM

July 1st 1985, here is where we are at:

Nope, I'm not a customize person. Windows default.

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 02:33 PM

Holy collapse Toronto! They lose 4 in a row down the stretch, while the Yanks win 4 and they give up the division. Tough to win 96 and not even make the playoffs. I guess this is why the wildcard was added...

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 02:36 PM

Royals and Padres in the 1985 WS...

Shaun Sullivan 06-19-2011 02:44 PM

Royals Win!

Going to try and sneak 1980 in before I leave for my Hockey game...

lungs 06-19-2011 02:47 PM

Still playing out my 1982 Milwaukee Brewers season. Oddly one game I struck out 26 times against a fairly mediocre pitcher.

Mizzou B-ball fan 06-19-2011 02:50 PM

Pretty impressive finish for the 85 Royals after being just over .500 in the regular season.

Was Gorman Thomas playing all 9 positions? :)

dubb93 06-19-2011 03:20 PM

Is it possible to start out in say 1900 and have the game import rookies year by year? Is this automated? Is expansion and movement automated? If not is it a PITA? I used to love doing this in OOTP 6.5 but to be honest it was kind of a PITA.

Yes, it is all automated. The only issue is you can't import the rookie to their real teams. There is an option that increases the odds but it is not a guarantee.
