Man, that was definitely a purposeful miss by that Tennessee player. What disrespect.

I am a not leaving enough time on the clock if I run for the first down. Huh. Good win for Arkansas. And Vandy. Texas has looked invincible, but you wonder if anyone will be unscathed this season.

Better chance you are right than me, Kodos. Tulane might've been his 2nd team.

How about this SEC though? Just let the Top 12 SEC teams duke it out and let the other pussy team play in the bowl games amirite

Pumpy is first and foremost a Tennessee-Chattanooga fan. Well, at least their special teams unit from the 1990 timeframe

For not having many high profile marchups, it's been a pretty damn good week of college football. Still can't believe Vandy beat Bama. And it wasn't a fluke, they just outplayed them.

What is that, 5 top 11-ish teams losing, six?

Cal couldn't run the ball all night, but they kinda turtled in the fourth quarter with that 20-point lead. One pass attempt during that entire three-touchdown comeback.

Only fair, I guess. An east coast team should not have to play a conference game that ends at 2:30 in the morning. Do what they did in Washington and start in the late afternoon. I think Cal deserved what they got.

Of course, with the expanded conference schedules, Miami gets to avoid Clemson, Virginia, Southern Methodist and Pittsburgh this year and they don't play Notre Dame under whatever that agreement is at this point. Notre Dame will, however, get to take on Army and Navy before anyone gets too excited about whichever group of five school gets sacrificed at the end of the year.

There were 18 unbeaten FBS teams going into the week, 14 in the Power 4. Three didn't play this week and the rest went 9-6. This week will be remembered for the SEC upsets (though the only real surprise with Missouri was the final margin).

6-0 Teams: Indiana, Miami (FL).
5-0 Teams: Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, Pittsburgh, Brigham Young, Iowa State, Army, Navy.
4-0 Team: Liberty.

Next week, we get Texas at Oklahoma and Ohio State at Oregon.

What a great day for the underdogs.

Hogs DC Travis Williams and defense gets the credit. After the 2 quick Vol's TD in 3Q, we didn't crack and were able to stiffen up. Petrino's offense was no slouch either, we were able to move up and down the field. We just weren't able to convert to TD in the redzone and just had 3 points in 1H.

Overall, fantastic win. Good to win a close one. 6-6 is definitely doable. Looking forward to the Liberty or Bluebonnet bowl or whatever they're called nowadays.

About when our QB2 ran in for the score? It was weird how that last Vol defender kinda just let him walk in.

He definitely turnstiled to let him score. It is a strategy, and I am glad it didn't work out.

The new cross-country Big Ten has staged nine conference games thus far featuring a pair of schools located at least two time zones apart. The visiting teams are 1-8 in those games.

Well, that's probably not what they had in mind. The win? Indiana at UCLA

Vols only fall 4 places to #8. Can’t but help feel disrespected.

A bye week and then #13 LSU at home

The SEC has the top 4 ranked one loss teams in the country. Seems legit.

Texas is a two touchdown favorite over Oklahoma at the moment. I have a feeling it is going to be a closer game than that. Hard to predict how rivalry games will go.

These are stupid, but fun. I was just looking at if the playoffs were today, based on AP ranking:

Byes:
1. Texas
2. Ohio State
3. Miami
4. Iowa State

First round
5. Oregon
12. Boise State

6. Penn State
11. Clemson

7. Georgia
10. Ole Miss

8. Alabama
9. Tennessee

Maybe this has come up before, but I wonder if being in the 5th seed (the best team that's not a conference champion) is better than having a bye. Looking at Oregon, you get #17 Boise State then #11 Iowa State, compared to 2nd seed Ohio State getting a bye, then #5 Georgia or #9 Ole Miss.

Looking at SP+ ratings, I think this is the case. If you're in the Top 4 or 5th seed range, you're looking at a rating of about 25. Boise State is at 9.3, and the game is at home, so I figure you have a 90% chance of winning that game. Then the Big 12 winner in the 4th seed would probably be Kansas State or Iowa State, somewhere around a rating of 15. That seems like at least a 75% chance of winning. So we're looking at probably a 67.5% chance of getting into the semifinals, while a team with a bye probably has a 60% chance of winning? They'd be playing a team about as good as them, at a neutral site. I'd say the chance would be in the 50s, but I'm bumping it due to the week off you're getting while your opponent played the week before, but if we think that's a larger bump (and probably a reduction to the 75% chance of #5 beating #4), maybe it all evens out. I think there is a benefit to the 5th seed getting to play two conference champs, where wonky things happen, but a 1-3 seed would definitely play an at-large team that everyone knows is good.

Of course, when this was all planned out, the situation was a lot different. Having a Pac 12 that existed, and a Big 12 with Texas and Oklahoma would make it so that the 4th seeded conference champ wasn't a weak team, and even the 12th seeded conference champ would be pretty good.

I don't know how the seeding works outside of conference champs but there is zero chance we have 2 games with SEC teams playing each other. They are going to do everything they can to have as many SEC teams go as deep as possible.

Maybe. If you're going to have 5 SEC teams in the playoffs like we have here, you'll need to have at least one game with SEC teams playing each other. If you put an SEC team in the 5th seed, and put Oregon a little lower, I don't think it changes that you'd rather play Mountain West champ then Big 12 champ instead of bye, then 6-11 at-large.

It won't stay that way. Tennessee has to play Alabama and Georgia, Georgia plays Texas and Tennessee. Texas probably has the easiest road, but they still have Oklahoma (should be a easy win, but it is a rivalry game), Georgia, Texas A&M (another rivalry), then probably the SEC Championship game. Of course if they are in the SEC Championship game they are most likely in regardless. SEC probably ends up with 4, at best 5.

I think he's trying to suggest a way the SEC could have six teams and not have anyone play in the first round.

I think 5 would be tough. They have to play each other too often. My guess is SEC 4, Big 10 4 is the way it will end up.

I guess for 5 SEC teams, you could do

1-4
5
6 or 11
7 or 10
8 or 9

Probably a lot of manipulation involved to get 5 SEC teams like that, without getting called out on it though.

Yeah. I'm just playing.

I do think they will get the only two loss team(s) into the playoffs.

They don't care how it looks. I am still surprised they didn't put Georgia in the final 4 last year.
