NOFL Season 2 Week 4 Has Started! Deadline is 12/23/08
I'm figuring our usual 5 days will allow everyone to play before they leave for their holiday travels and then we'll go with a full week around Christmas. Does that work for everyone?
No human vs human games this week, but several big games as #13 Kentucky plays at #11 Georgia and #19 Washington plays at #16 Pittsburgh.

Heh ... actually beat UL-Monroe a bit more easily this time. Gave up a cheap TD at the end when I tried to go all Bob Stoops on them. I need Hawkins to complete another pass to Smith for them to set school records for passing and receiving yards respectively and I forced a ball to Smith that went for a pick-six. What a stupid I am.

At #11 Georgia? I guess they lost last week. That kind of kills some of the hype around the game...but it doesn't change the fact that they are a scary good team.
Glad we're back to a 5-day week and apparently the sim went okay? Knock on wood? Hope to play my game Sunday. Good luck to everyone! |

We came out and destroyed UL-Lafeyette 58-27. Next three weeks will see us playing Auburn, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Too bad the results got screwed last week.
Carroll went 31-40, 394 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 0 picks. I'm tempted to bring a similar offense to the RFL. Last edited by Galaxy : 12-20-2008 at 02:04 PM. |

Your team is already offensive in the RFL.

#10 Penn State came into Palo Alto, CA today looking to push the Stanford Cardinal around. Unfortunately for them, I have PSU in the RFL and I know all of their weaknesses (especially in year two). It wasn't very close.
Andrew Luck smoked the PSU DB's for several TD's, and we racked up 200 yards rushing on top of it. PSU added a late score but the final result was something along the lines of 54-24.

Not for me.. at least not with a huge talent difference. Pittsburgh just had too much talent and way too much speed for our very slow Washington defense. I tried double teaming, zones, blitzes, but I couldn't stop their sophomore WR who had 5 catches for 175 yards and 4 TD's!
I thought despite our defensive deficiencies we might win the game if I could just score last in the 1st half since we got the ball to start the 2nd half. The plan was working but with a little over a minute left, Locker threw an endzone pick that turned into a 14 point swing as they quickly scored a TD to the aforementioned WR. We lost to Pittsburgh 45-35. |

PSU isn't a very good team in year 2. I'd love to take credit for spanking a top 10 team w/ Stanford, but PSU will almost certainly not finish ranked.

Kentucky absolutely demolishes Georgia 80-45. It was a game where both defenses took the day off. 19 scoring drives for the 2 teams outpaced 4 combined turnovers and 2 combined punts. That's 19 out of 25 drives for scores (76% of the possessions) and 17 of the 25 drives were for TD's (68% of total possessions). It was insane.
Georgia returned a kickoff for a TD late in the first and they led 21-14 after one quarter. Kentucky tied it up and of course Georgia answered and led 28-21 early in the 2nd. That's when our amazing QB just took over the game. Kentucky had over 450 yards rushing and over 250 yards passing. Insane. I've scored more than 80 in a game a few times, but my offense has *never* played this well in a game. And this came against a very good Georgia defense. We started out down 28-21 but closed the game on a 59-17 clip. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into next week's huge matchup against Florida. For those counting at home, that's 1 top-25 team down and 5 to go. Plus two solid human teams. Gulp. I hate the SEC |

Of course, the deadline is tonight. Ironhead has let me know that he just got his 360 back though, so we'll wait until the deadline unless I hear that everyone is done sooner. |

As of late last night there were like 6 people who had to do stuff. Hopefully everyone can get it done. I'd hate to see some losses to bad AI teams.

I hate to make a precedent of extending deadlines, yet at the same time it is the holiday season and if ever there was a time to make an exception, this seems like the time of the year. Does anyone have any strong objections to me extending the deadline until tomorrow? I didn't realize there were still 6 people today who hadn't done stuff. |

No problem for me either. Extend if we need to.
I did get my main rivalry game in tonight and had several 4 and 5 star players visiting... Ended up coming back from down 16-0 to beat UNC 24-23 on a FG to end the game!!! Felt really nice to come back and beat them damn Tarholes!!! Hope the recruiting trips went well. This was my one Blue chip game and I hate it had to come so early in the year but oh well! Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays everyone! |

Ok, still 3 people who haven't done stuff. Given the holidays, I'm going to extend the deadline until 10PM tomorrow, but of course will advance earlier if everyone is done. Our next deadline will be 1/1/09 as I'm not sure I'll be around New Year's Eve to advance. However, we will advance that week earlier if everyone is done. Once these holidays are over, we'll go back to our regular 5 day time limit.

Virginia beats Duke 34-13. We were up 28-0 at halftime, and put it on cruise control for the second half. That's the way to celebrate our first top 25 ranking!
