Official FOFC Hattrick Rankings for week 19.02

Another Hattrick week is behind us and this means another reason to sit around and compare our teams...

Oh yeah, maybe some rankings could do the trick...

I'll get to them in a moment, for now, some explanations...
- TW stands for "This Week"
- LW stand for "Last Week"
- The first set of numbers (to the left of the team names) represents the relative ranking of every team. A blank in either column means that team wasn't ranked that week.
- The second set of numbers (to the right of the FOFC member name) represents the rankings points scored for the last two week.
- The rankings points for a given week are calculated using a weighted moving average of that week's NSI points and the score of the previous two weeks' NSI points.
- "NSI points" is the sum of all your position ratings from your game report, with midfield counting as triple its value
- Ratings are scored with the base value set at disastrous = 1, wretched = 2, and so on.
- If your team doesn't play its game because of a walkover, your rating for the game in question will be ignored in the weighted average and the remaining ratings will be used.

Finally, some comments about this week's rankings:

Absolutely no movement in the top 7, even though DataKing's Screamin' Seamen improved that rankings points average with a good performance this week (albeit for a draw).
Among top ten teams, lytic got the closest to drop a spot, averaging 3.3 les points than a week agod.
Huge move up by sterlingice's Hippopotami, a 7 spots jump to land a place in the top 10. astralhaze's Bombers also landed a place in the top 10. On the other hand, NYFAN's Pride dropped 3 places, and out of the top ten...
Some good move up: Masked (25 spots), JHandley (30 spots), and HeavyReign (29 spots). If I missed your team's achievement, feel free to point it out and brag a little about it
Achilles' Tigers are still not listed even though they already have two wins this season. The thing is, both wins were on walkover games. What's the matter with your team, Achilles? Nobody wan to play you?

gotta add that the Pintendre Pittbulls slipped A LOT, but we also expected that, PIC-ing a B squad and posting a ugly 30 points ratings this week. A drop of 39 spots that places us in 82nd place out of 94

It should all fall back into place when we'll be out of the cup... Probably very soon

How did I improve six points when the only change in my ratings from last week was a one level increase in one of my defense ratings?

My ratings will be higher next week... I used a 5-4-1 which caused a lower midfield rating (which counts for 3x).

I think another cool stat might be total stars. Sure stars are evil, but so are ratings!

Seriously though, I'll take a 84th Place Ranking to go along with a Tie against arguably the best squad in my League anytime..

TP6, the way I compute the rankings, I use a weighted moving average, in which your latest week (19.02) counts triple its value, the secnod latest week (19.01) counts double its value and the third week (18.14) counts only one time. I then divide the sum by 6. In your case, last week's average was (3*87 + 2*57 + 1*83)/6 = 76.3. This week, it's (3*88 + 2*87 + 1*57)/6 = 82.5. That's why. Next week, simply stay with a regular 88 and your ratings will jump to 88...

I know how you feel. If I used my cup ratings (NSI 51) I would be up at 24th instead of down in 63rd. Of course, I'll probably do that again next week and try to survive one more round of the US Open Cup.

Exactly what I meant. However, while my cup ratings gave me my best ever ratings, with a 49, I also lost that game and am now out of the cup...

We had scoring chances and dominated the possession battle (60 & 64%) but were never able to put the ball past the goalie...

# 72 on the list and in Round 4 of the cup now. A lot of that had to do with the fact I played a terrible div 4 team. I think they were rated as one of the lowest teams in the whole division

Guys, I've made a new page that'll become part of the rankings website in the future. It's a best of kind of page. It presents the top 15 in 4 categories: Position gains, Position losses, Ratings increase, and finally Ratings decrease. It also presents all of the game ratings of the week, not the weighted average but the result of your game for the week...

Eventually, this page will be linked from the front page, but for now, here's a direct link to it:

But I'll more than give back the gains I gained this week by doing that. I'm guessing NSI 45 or so.

Yeah, that's why my ratings were so low this week (47). I knew I had no chance if I played my scrubs, but I didn't want to ruin my training. So I played my "A" team forwards and my "B" team midfield and defense.

I'll add that I PICed that league game, with my whole B squad, which explains that 30 ratings. How bad is my league? I still won 2-0

My cup game, which I MOTSed, got me a ratings of 49. I guess when I get back to normal, I should be around 42-45...
