Depends upon whether the server was directly involved in the reason the meal was comped.

Depends on the service. Never take the tip out on the waiter/waitress. If its the waiter/waitresses fault (ie. they are rude about it, and refuse to correct the situation), yeah, then crap on them. But other than that, don't take it out on them. |

Hmmmm....maybe I should've added a smiley. I meant 20% of $0. Supposed to be a stupid joke, but I guess it was just STUPID.

I went to a very nice restaurant with my wife a few months ago. There was a hair in her main meal. They comped both of our meals and brought her a new entree. We tipped the waiter above 20% of what the meal would have been if it hadn't been comped. I figure, he did even more work bringing her food out a second time, he informed the manager of the problem in a way that got us comped in the first place, and he likely wasn't the one that put the hair in her food (it was deep within her dish and wasn't just on top of her food.) |

Happened to me last Saturday. I was 99% finished so I turned down another one, because I wasn't hungry anymore and they comped it.

Comp the salad and get a new one. There's no reason to comp the entire meal. It's a friggin' hair, it's not that bad.
I also agree that Vince's manager is an idiot.

While I personally would, and have, just ignored it, don't you agree that it could ruin the dining experience for someone? I have a pretty thick stomach, but I can see how someone would be disgusted. |
