Does anyone else feel guilty or bad or something about this....

simply taking your office trash can, the BIG one and setting it out at the street on trash night. I dont bag it, or cover it or nothing, so there it is, sporting news mags, newsweeks, shredded stuff, wrappers....no lid, no nothing, just out there next to everyone's big green "normal" trash cans. Like this:

-- If it blows all over the neighborhood or something, that's probably pretty asshatish.
-- If you've got a curby but just won't dump the little one into it or something, that's kind of lazy (although maybe not real efficient since you presumably now have to retrieve the little one pretty promptly for use, while the green one could sit there indefinitely)
-- If your garbage pickup is mechanical instead of manual (i.e. do they gotta jump off the truck to empty it), you're probably being a PITA.

Absent something of that nature ... pfft. A trashcan is a trashcan, one serves the purpose as well as the other AFAIC.

The civilians in the schoolhouse till take their bags of trash and put it outside their door, and leave it there for days. Their contract states they're responsible for the cleaning of their workspace, but in the past students awaiting transfer would clean it for lack of anything better to do.

It's interesting to note that since it's rare for students to be waiting for transfer now, sometimes two to three bags of trash can be sitting outside some lazy guy or girl's door. What's worse is most walk right past the trash bin outside on their way to their vehicle.

Uh...since there is a larger trashcan out there, wouldn't it be polite to just dump it in there. And if it's full, and don't have another trash can, just get a large garbage bag and tie the trash up so it doesn't go all over the neighborhood. Dogs and cats can easily knock that over.

I haven't found anything yet Mr. Bush. You sure this is the guy that is railing on the administration all of the time?

Speaking of trash faux pas. I am currently living in a furnished apartment while we wait to move into our new house. The building is a small unit with 8 apartments, four on each of the two floors. There is an interior hallway and stairwell. This building is connect to two other similar buildings. We are in the front of the "complex" closest to the street.

There are large dumpsters outside the buildings at the far end of the parking lot. I'd say it's a good 100+ yards from the door. It's cold. It's Michigan in the winter, but still, when the trash needs taking out, I go outside, walk all the way down to the dumpster and dispose of the trash.

The people diagonally across the hall, however, just leave their trash sitting outside their door in the interior hallway. They just leave the bag there for a good 3-4 days until they happen to head down that direction. It's pissing me off to no end. I keep putting the trash bag right in front of their door, but they just step over it and move it against the wall. A confrontation may be in order.

I love that my apartment complex has curbside garbage pick-up three times a week. As long as I get my trash out before 9am it's golden...

And in regards to the issue at hand, I completely agree with Antmeister. How difficult is it to dump it into the big can? And there are a ton of things that could knock it over. A slight breeze, for instance...
