Question New Monitor...Good Deal?

I am concerned my old crt monitor is showing signs of age. Does this look like a good deal?

My 19" monitor cost more than that, but I'm also hesitant to purchase what looks to be a good deal on a brand I've never heard of. Most of the time, Cheap Price + Unknown Brand = Inferior Product

I think benQ is most known for there cd/dvd burners, which are pretty quality imo.

Re: New Monitor...Good Deal?

Good specs, good reviews. Price is a little high, ads seem to have samsungs for the same or less. I just won't buy an LCD online, newegg only allows returns if the LCD has 8 or more dead pixels. Not sure what BenQ's policy is. I just go to costco and buy according to specs; if I don't like it at home, I take it back, no problems.

Thanks for the replies. I am not in dire need as yet and waiting for the right deal is a luxury I can afford. I use my computer for internet and gaming, and this seemed like a nice monitor for the money. The Newegg dead pixel policy is a big concern.

The Viewsonic VX922 is probably a better bet anyway. I will keep looking.

Are you kidding me?

Newegg is probably the best site for ordering anything pc releated. Their customer support is top notch and their products and prices are one of the best out there.

I have a BenQ 20" widescreen monitor and absolutely love it. The one you're looking to buy has a 2ms response time? WOW! I thought mine having an 8ms response time was good.

If you're looking for a 19" LCD monitor, this would be a great choice, imo.

Also, IMHO Viewsonic are terrible. I would definitly choose a BenQ monitor over Viewsonic... but to each their own.

I have to echo Mizzou's opinion with NewEgg. Best site for purchasing computer components. Have never had a problem returning stuff with them in the past.

I have a $120 19" flat screen sitting on my right. My $200 widescreen 19" is currently showing my ripped DVD. I sold another $120 19" widescreen for $175. Just monitor (pun somewhat intended) www.fatwallet.com or www.slickdeals.net forums. A cheap 19" LCD pops up every now and again. I've had 1 dead pixel with 3 monitors (2 from staples, one from office depot). It's a blue pixel on a black background, upper left corner. It bothers me, but no one else notices it.

I'm not saying not to buy from Newegg. They are one of the best sites out there and I buy most things from them without even looking at other sites. But I do not like their dead pixel policy. Allowing up to 8 is not acceptable to me, regardless of how well I like them for everything else. With Costco I can take it home, try it out and if I do not like it for any reason it goes back. No hassle, no questions and no waiting 3-7 days for it to get shipped back and forth.

At work we just purchased 3 NEC Multisync 70GX2's (17") and they are, hands-down, the best LCDs I've ever used and they are soooo reasonably priced.

When my home crt goes, I'm getting the 19" version of this LCD which isn't too much more. I have an LG LCD at home and I don't much care for it.

Try this NEC model and you won't believe how sweet these are.

I understand. I've bought 3 and have never had any dead pixels, but I can see your concern. I've also had questionable issues and they've never refused a replacement on anything from me.

I bought one of these a couple of months ago and love it. Had a salesman at Best Buy steer me towards it and figured "here we go, he's taking me to the expensive stuff". Looked at it and thought it had the best picture and was reasonably priced.

Now I also love New Egg and buy stuff from them but bought the monitor from BB to avoid any hassles of exchanging if it had a pixel problem. But out of curiousity I checked the price at NE when I got home and at that time BB
was $10 cheaper.

I love newegg and have bought tons of stuff happily from them over the last four or five years. I would not buy an LCD monitor from them though... their dead pixel policy is pretty poor.

Famous last words. Of course, my Optiquest died soon after this post. I went shopping but ended up getting the BenQ monitor from Newegg. It seems ok so far. Thanks again for the help.
