Lloyd Carr is overrated. Fire him NOW!!!

His teams never show up in the big games.

He will never win at Notre Dame.

He must go NOW!!!

If you believe Mike Martz the Lions were only "inches" away from scoring 40 points against the Seahawks last week, so if Warner et al. can fine tune the offense just a weeee-bit, look out.

As an Illinois fan, and knowing that our team is not beating many teams in the Big Ten, I love that Michigan keeps Carr around year after year.

Sure he has won a title. Sure he wins his fair share of games. And his recruiting classes are usually quite good. But my impression is that Ohio State has been gaining ground on Michigan since Tressel came on board. And that Michigan, with a really top-level coach, could be right with USC in the top 3-5 every year instead finding ways to lose 1-2 more games per year than they should.

Mizzou and illinois should start playing again every year..i miss those games...mizzou beating ole miss means nothing to me except a W. After basketball season, i could always fall back on that football win. Now all my illinois fans have all the firepower

Grey, I was thinking about that today - what are coaches that are at good jobs now that would leave them for a great job? Who would inspire a knee-jerk "oh crap!" from me if Michigan hired them.

Bellotti (sp?) at Oregon was one name that came to mind. But I'm not sure you have to go steal a high-major coach to get good results. Tressel at Ohio State, Brown at Texas (did UNC qualify as high-major when they snagged Brown? Record was good but not exactly a tradition of excellence), and Carroll at USC have all had very good results.

When Carr leaves, which no matter what the circumstances are, it'll be his "retirement" the most logical option is Les Myles out of LSU.

Won't happen. Even if somehow it did, he would be a catastophic failure in Ann Arbor. Michigan actually has academic standards.

Please, you are welcome to him. He was rather underwhelming at OSU (living in Big XII country enables me to see most of there games) and he's done nothing to change that opinion during his first year + with the Tigers. I want us to take another shot at Booby Petrino, or maybe even go outside of the box and give Will Muschamp his first shot at a head coaching gig.

This is quite possibly the most uninformed statement ever written on this board.

HINT: Ohio State has HIGHER academic standards than Michigan for football players.

You may have M Go Blue beat. I understand how you would have this perception based on ESPN's trashing of Ohio State but Tressel is one hell of an amazing person.

Amazingly slimey.

The OSU football program has reeked under a cloud of suspicion ever since that vest-wearing tube took over.

Where are you, Mr. Cooper? Our University turns its lonely eyes to you...

Here are just a couple of players of the top of my head that would have gone to Ohio State but did not meet OSU's academic standards. Some of these players even signed a LOI with Oho State.

Dennis Kennedy - Akron, he scored the 3 TDs against NC State
DaJuan Morgan - NC State
Freddie Lennix - Cincinnati
Jeff Cumberland - Illinois
Ernie Wheelwright - Minnesota
Derrell Johnson - Iowa

Also off the top of my head, you need to take a look at the academic profiles of Tim Jamison and Marques Slocum on the Michigan side. Apparently, you would be surprised.

Michigan does not have higher standards than the minimum that the NCAA requires.

Indeed. There is "theory" and then there is "application." They can talk the talk, but they don't appear to be walking the walk.

2005 Graduation Rates

Michigan: 69 %
Ohio State: 54 %

Say what you will about what the graduation rate truly means, but year in and year out Michigan is always way ahead of Ohio State. Don't feed the BS line about OSU players leaving early either, because it happens on both sides of the fence. Hell, neither # is where the teams ought to be, but 15% seems like a big slide to me.

But anyway, there is no point in going on in this pissing contest. Michigan hates Ohio State, Ohio State hates Michigan, thus the best rivalry in sports and I'd rather not see logic in this to bring me towards giving OSU credit, it'd take some of the fun away.

So Ohio State fans are still arrogant drunks who always have to fight because they have lived most of their lives in Ohio, and even I sympathize with how depressing that has to be. I'd rather live in India then Columbus, at least then you know why it smells so putrid and the people there look that way because well, there is nothing there for 'em.

All the Clarett legal problems happened after he left school. It has nothing to do with Ohio State anymore than the Unibomber had anything to do with Michigan.

Why are almost all of your players in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts or in the Division of Kinesiology? Are they jock majors or something?

By the way, I think I've revealed on this board before that my first cousin played at Ohio State a couple years ago. I don't think I've ever revealed that one of my best friends played at Michigan. Both programs run things the right way but Michigan has their quirks just like Ohio State does.

Not to get dragged into the amusing OSU-UM flame war, but I think the first 3 weeks of the season clearly shows 2 things:

The Big Ten outside of OSU and UM is AWFUL.
Notre Dame was again the beneficiary of a mass marketing campaign. They're barely a top-25 caliber team.

course neither of those hold a candle to BC who are 2nd only to (one of the service academies I forget which one) in 1-A. And still manage to make bowl games every year.
