Whitesnake

Are they making a comback...rereleasing their songs or something?

For 3 days straight i've heard them on the radio......Playing Albatross today some guy says he's listening to Whitesnake......Reading some random blog today and the author is listening to Whitesnake.

Did i miss something....are the 80's back in?....should i pull out my spandex??

Are we all gonna fall in love with Tawny Kitain again???

Is there gonna be a Rockstar Whitesnake?

What gives?

Coverdale is the only guy left, isn't he? He'd have to do a Rockstar to fill in guitar, bass, and drums. And music video hottie, since Tawny no longer qualifies.

See, now that would be a show.

Well, on this, yes you did miss something. The 80s have been back since at least The Wedding Singer. Do you not see all of the teens around your town with their collars flipped up like they're Anthony Michael Hall?

The last time they toured, it was Tommy Aldrich on drums, Marco Mendoza on bass and Reb Beach on gtr. I thought maybe Jon Sykes played with them for a couple dates but I can't remember.

Aldrich was the only guy (besides Sykes) who played on any Whitesnake recordings. Mendoza, Beach and Sykes were members of Thin Lizzy.

I'd much prefer to see a Coverdale/Deep Purple reunion. That will never happen.

Reb Beach was in Thin Lizzy? Surely not as an original member. He was the guitarist for Winger, wasn't he?

Yeah, I think that's really weird. An old lady (late 40s) that I worked with at my last job wanted to be cool and flipped up her collar. I asked her why she did that since it looked as if she wanted to be 17 again. She flipped it down.

On a side note, I am waiting for chicks to walk around wearing leg warmers.

Yep. And then for Dokken. And then for Whitesnake.

His first professional gig? Played guitar on every track of Fiona's 1986 album Beyond the Pale. He later did session work for albums by Howard Jones, Chaka Khan, The Bee Gees, and Twisted Sister before eventually landing the job with Winger.

I might not go as far as "great" but they do probably belong in a group of bands that are actually better live than we usually give them credit for. I had the same reaction to Slaughter when I saw them a couple of years back.

Winger's live show was far heavier than the albums and it was nothing like the videos where Kip just stood there and smiled like an orbit gum commercial. He is a decent bass player too.

The really cool thing was that Reb did a little guitar clinic at a local music shop the night or so before the show (Dave Phillips Music).

I liked Fiona. I wish I could get some of her albums, but all I get with searching is Fiona Apple.

I'm kind of scared that you know that much about Reb Beach, Jon.

Eh, Googling makes it easy these days.

(And I had seen his site before, looked it over when he joined Dokken for a spell)

Beyond the Pale and her self-titled debut both appear to be available at buy.com

My bad, sorry. I meant Winger. I actually had to look it up because I couldn't remember Beach's main band.

Kip was a good bass player. Morgenstein is a top-notch drummer as well. Winger was an underachieving band to say the least.

Already happening. The Flashdance legwarmers and Madonna "skirt over tights" fads are also back. The wife and I have seen both.

You missed one Reb Beach moment - his album The Mob, featuring Dug Pinnick of King's X on nearly all of the lead vocals (and Kelly Keagy of Night Ranger, and produced by Kip Winger). It's standard 80s hair band stuff, and most KX fans don't quite understand Dug's motivation to be on it. But it exists. As much of a KX fan as I am, even Dug's appearance on it isn't enough to make me buy it.

I haven't seen the "skirt over tights" thing yet, but I was stunned by the leg warmers. I was at a college football game on Saturday, and there was a girl young enough to be a student walking around in leg warmers and high heels.

Leg warmers and high heels. At a football game. During a thunderstorm.

what

I saw the skirt over tights on a couple of girls on the flight from Boston to D.C. this weekend.

Maybe Dug had a crush on Kip and wanted to be close to him.

That might also explain why he's producing Hal Sparks' band's CD...

They are going to try again on the DVD - it will be recorded on their European tour in the spring.

I tried to explain that Hal was gay to my wife, but she's convinced he's straight because they kept showing his girlfriend during Celebrity Duets.
