Anyone Bowl ?
Any bowlers in the forums? Well I picked up bowling about 4 years ago and the last 2 years I have really started learning where to stand, the movement of the ball etc. I have been a consisten 165 avg over the past 2.5 years.. Tonight I finally bowled my first 600 series with a 630. 201, 229, 200. I am pretty pumped, for me this is quite an accomplishment. I have been working towards it, improving my average all season by slow margins. Tonight I got in a groove and it stayed, I usually bowl good one game terrible the next and ok the last.. Maybe I just stink bowling my first 600 series in 4 years but it sure feels good right now.

I bowl roughly once a month and got my highest ever score about a couple weeks ago, 189. I was elated.
What was more confusing is that it was dollar beers night that night also and I was pretty damn drinky too.

Congrats on your first 600. Wait until you have to do that every week to make average.

Congrats, but when I bowled in junior high a series like that would ruin your handicap.

Good Job. I remeber my first 700 series.
The third game of the series I had 11 strikes in a row, then I left a SOLID 7-10 split. I was only 17, and the nerves and pressure got to me. Unfortunately since I've joined the military I haven't had much time for bowling.

I used to bowl regularly, but haven't done so in a long time. My highest series ever was 642 back when I was 16. I had a 165 average back then and was just in the zone that night and it was a great feeling.

Series = 3 games. Usually you bowl one series in each night of a league. Each team gets 4 "games played" -- one for each game, then another for total pinfall for the series.
I love bowling, and I need to get back into a league now that I'm up in the bay area. When I left Santa Barbara, my average was around 180, but I haven't bowled in months.

I remember my first 700 as well.. was in a league with my dad in which our team was far and away the best team.
Anyway, was posistion week.. so we had to play the 2nd place team. First game my dad gets 11 in a row and buried the ball in the pocket and left the 7.. 299 yuck Next game, i had 11 in a row, and my 300 bid ended much like robb's.. except was a baby split.. Needless to say, we swept the series, and the league which was supposed to be a casual mixer league, asked us not to return next year. |

If you guy want a challenge, try bowling duckpins instead of tenpins. It's harder to get a strike and you get 3 balls instead of 2. Ball usually weigh between 3lbs 6oz to 3lbs 12oz. No bigger then 5 inches round.

Good job. I've always been an avid bowler. Wife and I are about to join a league again.
Last week was the first I had bowled in 2 years. First game: 82 Second game: 202 I think I found my groove after a VERY slow start

I've bowled almost every week for a little over a year. It all started right before I moved from New Orleans. The company I worked for gave me a surprise "going away" party at a bowling center. My wife and I had a lot of fun there, and we kept it up after we moved. Now we bowl every Thursday night (it's "quarter night" at the bowling center we go to, so each game costs only $0.25), and we're considering joining a league next summer or fall.
I don't keep an average, but I'd gather that it's only somewhere around 140. My high game is a 208. During many of my games, I'll bowl a couple of trick shot frames. I'm not quite sure how to describe the shot. I do a forward approach, a 180-degree turn, and then I bowl the ball backwards between my legs. I'm pretty erratic with that shot (go figure), so it brings my scores down. I have bowled entire games with the trick shot, and I score around 80 when I do that, although I've cracked 100. My wife and I have decided to start computing our averages, beginning with tonight's games. I'll probably have to cut down on the trick shots or just do entire games that way, as I don't want to mess with my scores that much. I love bowling, and I wish I could go more often, but I like to bowl 6 or 7 games per outing, and that would start to get expensive if I went more than once or twice a week. It's hard to get lanes, too, because of all the leagues going on. It's a great activity, though, and I wish I'd picked it up sooner.

I ain't joining the PBA tour or anything. Besides, how serious can you get when you're bowling for only two hours a week?

700?
Shit, when I bowled league for a couple of years about 15 years ago I was happy to just consistently break 500. (Of course, we bowled a lot like some people golf -- one shot, one drink, one shot, one drink. That's how I discovered I bowled quite a bit better with a buzz on.)

I used to bowl about 2-3 times a week before we had my son. He has changed things dramatically. We've probably been 3 times since then, total (over 4 years). I have my own bowling ball and shoes, all that. My average was probably 160 or 170 and my high game was 269. Lots of fun, and I wish I could still go even half as often as I used to.

Is there anyone else on here that bowls in any duckpin leagues or bowl on the duckpin pro tour? Duckpins are found on the East Coast with the most in Maryland. Other states that have some are Virginia, West Virginia, Connecticut, Rhode Island. Just curious if I know any of you out there.
