NFL Draft 07: Colt Brennan returns to Hawaii.
A top-three QB (likely second one taken, according to things I've read) has withdrawn his name for the NFL draft, as Colt Brennan will stay in Hawaii for his senior year.
What are your thoughts on this? |

From what little I've heard it sounds like a good choice.
Was described as immature in the report I heard.

He's gonna have a Klingler-esque year next year to try and get him the Heisman and some attention on the Rainbows. At least if Jerry Glanville has anything to say about it.

If he knew the whole time that he was staying, then the whole enter/withdraw thing may have been designed soley to draw attention to himself and the program. Now, everyone knows who he is, and Hawaii might get some primetime games because of it.

Backlash on Quinn has some folks dropping him into the second round. I don't believe 32 teams will all be among those folks, however. Last edited by Shkspr : 01-18-2007 at 11:54 AM. |

My questions as well. Also, some things I was reading suggested he could even drop down to the 4th QB taken. |

I'd be willing to bet 100 dollars that barring an injury being disclosed or occuring at the combine that Quinn will be a 1st round pick. |

And if Brohm was in the draft, he would have been down another notch.

The rumors I've read/heard is that he was going to jump ahead of Quinn. I've heard it from multiple sources, not that they're any more credible than anyone else on this subject at this time.

I hate ND and Quinn. And yet I can't possibly come up with one reason why Brennan would go ahead of him. The off-the-field stuff would scare off at least a few teams from throwing top 5 money at him.

He was originally at Colorado and was accused of drunkedly barging into a female coeds room, iirc. And there was more to the story I think as well. |

I'd respectfully suggest that either Stephen Tsai or Rich Miano is full of shit.

I think this is a bad idea. What, he's going to have a better year next year? I seriously doubt it.

A thread about Colt Brennan is over 20 posts long and no sign of k0ruptr as yet?

Agreed. There is NO way the Skins use the 1.6 on a QB.

Right now, the 2008 QB crop looks to be among the weakest in years, after getting past Brohm, who will likely go #1 to whatever team fails to take a QB this year and goes on to be 2-14. So it was probably a good decision in that sense. One article I read on next year's class projected Brohm and Brennan to be the only QBs taken in the first 2 rounds. There's a few guys who will be draft eligible that will have potential to break in to the 1st if they have much better seasons though.

Without an in-depth analysis, I find it hard to believe that Erik Ainge is not expected to be a Day 1 pick, if not 1st round pick - particularly with the QBs coming out.

Well the 3rd round wouldn't be included in what I said, but do you think Ainge is a better pro QB than all of these 2nd tier guys like Henne, JDBooty, etc? I'm not saying I know everything about him, but I don't see it. Of course there should be a disclaimer that it's way too soon to talk about any of these guys, since a 6th rounder now could have a huge season and lock in a 1st round slot by this time next year. |

I bet John David Booty will have a very good year and end up in the 1st round if not the 1st QB taken overall. |

Well, I must say part of why I say this is I'm assuming Ainge has a similar year to what he had this year, which was one of the best for a QB this year and in a very tough conference (11th in the nation in QB Rating). Whereas Henne and Booty were not quite as efficient, 25th and 30th in the nation in QB Rating respectively. Outside of that, the fact that Ainge is 6-6 with a good long ball I think will give him a bit of a boost over the 6-2 Henne and 6-3 Booty. It's a bit of a gut feeling here, and I am speaking from Orange colored glasses, but until he was injured this season, Ainge was the top rated passer in the nation. I think you'll be hearing a lot from him. That being said, I think Booty ends up being at least a 2nd rounder with a good season this year and potentially a 1st rounder. Even if this is a weak QB class, I just can't imagine that only 1 or 2 QB's go in the first 2 rounds. It's just like a FOF MP draft, someone is going to reach for the best QB's in the class, even if in another year they wouldn't be worth a 1st day pick. Side note: Isn't the first day just the 1st and 2nd round?

He's got an incredible arm, I think better than any of the other USC qbs of the Carrol era. I think he would have been a first round pick THIS year. |

Save us all. One more season until the NFL has to be subjected to the "Booty Dance" on touchdown passes.
