Angry Mini Rant about SI Games and their bandwidth.

I purchase alot of games from SI. I've bought OOTP, every football manager/worldwide soccer manager game they've made in the last 7 years. I bought 2 out of the 3 hockies.

All I want to do is buy the new World Wide Soccer Manager Game. I've been trying now for a few weeks. I can't get the damn thing downloaded from their website. They are owned by sega, but they don't even have a mirror of the file.

It is pretty damn pathetic that a company like SI Games and Sega, can't afford some decent bandwidth, or even mirror their files at File Planet.

Maybe England has just run out of bandwidth? They are socialist country. So maybe everything is shared even the bandwidth?

The thing is, we've got six servers on a 32mb pipe .. the site is slow because we get shit loads of unique visitors a month and lots of downloads.

That said, I appreciate it's frustrating. I will put the file up somewhere else for you to download.

I haven't had much of an issue downloading from SI's site. Possibly what the problem might be is who your ISP has peering agreements with. If they don't have a peering agreement with a Tier1 network provider, then transatlantic transfers would be slow.

I've always found their site very slow as well. Fortunately, I never have to visit it since they visit here frequently, and I almost always can find files mirrored on some other site.

My biggest gripe about their site is that I can never FIND what I am trying to download. The layout is very mysterious.
