The Shield Season 6 Discussion
It starts Tuesday. I haven't been this pumped for a season of any show ever. The character development in this show is second to none and makes any other show on TV pale in comparison. I just saw the newest promo on FX and it had me so fucking pumped.
I know Sab will be watching, who else? |

Great show, been watching it since the beginning. I wish they did more episodes per year, because it always seems like not enough.
Who else thinks the series will end with Vic and Shane blasting each other at the same time? |

I think they broke up this 6th season into two seasons, so we get episodes next year, too, but neither has a ton of episodes, unfortunately, but per the norm for the show...

by the way, i came across this link months ago:
hxxp://www.nypost.com/seven/10242006/tv/spinning_off_the_shield_tv_.htm Text: "October 24, 2006 -- CABLE channel FX is reportedly working on a spin-off of "The Shield" starring relief Det. "Dutch" Wagenbach. The seventh season, set to end in 2008, will be the show's last. And yesterday, it was reported that actor Jay Karnes, who plays the cut-up cop of the otherwise hard-bitten drama, is under consideration for a series of his own." not sure if Dutch is a character that can have an entire show built around, but it could be worth keeping tabs on... |

I am really eager to see how the drama between Vic and Kavanaugh unfolds.......And also how Shane will be able to keep it together as the pressure builds to find Lemanski's killer. |

Shane is losing it, Kavanaugh will do anything to get Vic, Dutch is already suspicious of Kavanaugh and Vic is totally pissed off. This season is going to be crazy.

One of the best episodes of any show I've ever seen. Amazing all the way around. This is gonna be a helluva year.
And PS The Rescue Me trailer pumped me the hell up too. |

EDIT - POSSIBLE SPOILER (don't know how to do this button jazz...)
During the first half of the show, I was hoping that the Kavanaugh-Mackey feud wouldn't drag out all season long, but then when he confessed like that, I was disappointed in the way they ended the struggle. Don't get me wrong, I love this show, one of my faves of all time, and I was glad to see Mackey 'win' (for now, I suppose...), but it seemed a bit forced to me. Did anyone else expect Shane to turn against Mackey when he was being interrogated, just take the bait to save his own ass?... Glad to see that didn't happen, though... An amazing episode. I hated Kavanaugh. I agree with BYU, I have never hated a character as much as him. Next week looks so intense and the Shield is one of those shows where the previews generally come through.

SPOILER alert, but honestly, is anyone reading this thread that doesn't watch the show religiously like we do?
That's why I think Whitaker did a great job. I hated the character, not the actor/performance. I liked hating him. I too was a bit disappointed at how it ended (moreso that it ends in the 2nd episode, not the 4th or 5th), but it was a very in-character way for it to happen. Whitaker was a guy who wouldn't bend the rules for his own wife, so it makes sense that his conscience would be his downfall. Now I'm wondering what direction they go in. I thought it was going to be the triangle of action (Mackey looking for the killer - Kavanaugh trying to pin it on Mackey - Dutch investigating Kavanaugh). The middle has been taken out. Now where does Dutch go? I can't wait for next week. |

Dutch is going on the Mass Murder I bet. I think they're setting that up perfectly as the big storyline of the season. The other stuff I don't know we'll see ending this season so I look for the mass murder to be the big crime of the season. |

Got into an email discussion today about where it's going next week. I didn't see the previews for next week, but was given a brief description of it, and from there, I was thinking aloud and maybe almost convinced myself of the following:
there was one scene last night, i'm thinking vic and shane were in a car, and shane was talking about not going after guardo like this, and the cameras were square on vic, and i couldn't tell if his expression was trying to convey that shane was giving himself away, that vic was having his doubts about shane now. but after the description of next week's show, that must not be the case. unless vic now beats up guardo instead of killing him b/c he is testing shane to see if he'll spill it. here's another thought. remember when they had melia or whatever that girl's name is at the safe house, and ronnie offered to watch her so vic could go get some sleep, and vic put his hand on his shoulder as he was leaving when ronnie was sitting at the table with his back to vic? i'm wondering if that was a sign that vic is on to shane, and he appreciates the fact that ronnie is really the only one he can trust at this point... my other thought is that this turns into a ronnie & vic vs shane & someone struggle. but who teams with shane? |

God damn was last night good.
Next week though could be the pennical episode in the shows history. Generally the Shield is good on not teasing something stupid for next week and using that as the basis for this opinion; shits gonna' hit the fan. Also .. Julian is definetly one of the best developed characters on any show ever. From where he was to where he is now, never woulda' thunk it. |

QUOTE] I was discussing this earlier with someone, trying to figure out who Shane is confessing to... It can't be Vic, can it? But they wouldn't pull a dream sequence on us, would they? He's not yelling at himself in a mirror, is he? Maybe the tweener girlfriend? |

Well, I don't think The Shield has ever done a dream squence, so that would be a huge (maybe cheap, hack, etc.) diviation in the show's style. And I doubt it's to Vic, although it could be (remember, only a dozen or so episodes a season, so we're already hitting the middle of the season). I also think I remember seeing an arm in that clip, so I don't think it's a mirror.... Anyway, I don't think it's to Vic. He might confess to Ronnie in a moment of weakness, but I'm guessing the tweener chick. And on that subject...WTF is Shane thinking!? I was just thinking about how Julian disappeared this season, so it's good to see them do something with him. Him on the strike team should be interesting. I always got the impression that Vic actually liked Julian (not in that way ), so it'll be interesting to see how Vic takes to Julian being on the strike team. |

It's not Vic, not a mirror and not a dream, it's someone that is not new to the show, you'll see.
Plus it's at the very end of the episode so we don't know what happens next. Shane acts without thinking, as usual. |

I am anticipating next weeks episode as much as any in the entire series........I think they have to pull something big in terms of who he is confessing to......I have no idea who it could be though. I am throwing out a wild guess and saying Vic's Wife.
