Supplement for treating liver problems
Well, I guess the yeras of heavy dringking in college and in the Air force have taken there toll or at least are starting to. I got a physical done for a new life insurnace policy and the I was rated overall in the second highest category overall I did have one thing that kept me from having a perfect bill of health. The blood work that was done on me showed slightly high levels of the live enzymes SGOT(AST)-45 U/L, SGPT (ALT) - 79 U/L, GGT (GGTP)- 94 U/L. I was wondering if any one who is familar with this type pf thing either being amedical professional or having dealt with this stuff could recommend any natural supplement vitamin or mineral or other natural herb that could improve these numbers. As a note I haven't been drinking in excess for a number of years say 7-8 and don't see it changing. I generally only drink a six pack or max two a week.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but if you are showing signs of liver complications (which you are), you should stop drinking completely.

I have been diagnosed with a liver condition called NASH. See the link.
hxxp://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/tc/Nonalcoholic-Steatohepatitis-NASH-Overview The road that led me to find out about this started with seeing high liver enzymes in a routine blood test. I strongly recommend seeing someone who specialized in this sort of thing. |

Dola, I haven't had a drink since I found out about this 2 and a half years ago due to a strong recommendation by my doctor.

If I am told by a doctor that I need to quit drinking that's what I will do but right now I am thinking these numbers might be the product more of the excess 40 pounds of weight I am carrying 5"10 227 and because the Ibuprofen I have been taking to treat a pinched sciatic nerve problem. One thing is that I am getting back to the gym and hope to drop the weight, keep it off and start running marathons and triathalons again. If that doesn't lower these numbers I will definitewly quit drinking on my own.

If Ibuprofen is going to effect anything, it will be the kidneys. Acetaminophen will effect the liver.
It very well could be the extra weight causing your issue, but wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry? General Practioner doctors don't know squat when it come to this stuff. |

Spleen has a liver problem? (Sorry if that was in poor taste. Welcome to Hollywood.)

Nah, see my standard disclaimer. I was just offering friendly advice over the internet. I've never examined him, his file, or the rest of his labs. I was not offering advice as a doctor but as a concerned friend. That being said, I think the advice that he see a specialist in this field is sound advice.
