Wife Swap

Does anyone ever watch this show?

Where do they find these people, it is amazing social services doesn't show up at some of these people's doors after the show is aired.

Used to watch it, but then it got very repetitive and boring. But yes, the always find some serious psychos to put on there...

I came home from work a couple of years ago to find a film crew following someone into a house about 3 houses down from mine. I found out later it was an episode of Wife Swap being filmed.

You know, all these shows are the same formula, depending on what "type" of show it is.

Cooking reality shows have the guaranteed a-hole who's uber cocky and usually at least one gay guy who's not too over the top.

Project Runway, Bravo's fashion show, is guaranteed to have at least one WAY TOO FAR over the top gay guy and a biotchy girl or two.

Survivor and the Survivovr-esque shows have 9 a-holes and 1 nice person, and at least 8 of the 9 a-holes are ruthless.

For shows like Wife Swap (I think, I've never seen them), I think they find the worst human beings imaginable from the upper-class side of the tracks and the most white trash redneck people to swap them with.

With the writers on strike, though, this is what we're left with....thank goodness for DVD's and my iPod...

I've watched that show a couple times. It's the same thing every show. Control freak mom goes to a messy house out of control where the kids and dad are lazy. Control freak mom rules with an iron fist and makes the kids and dad work. Lazy mom goes to neat and tidy house where the kids are uptight and the dad is a puppet. Lazy mom drops the rules and eases up. Kids and dad get mad because they're out of their routine. Not a bad show the first couple times you watch it though.

I've seen a few episodes of Wife Swap. I watched on episode in particular that I found very difficult to believe, so I did a google on the name of one of the husbands in the show. I found a website he'd made about how he'd been portrayed on the show which had a couple of interesting points.

Most interesting was that there was only ever 1 camera in the house, so whenever something is going down and you are seeing back and forward/multiple camera angles, they are splicing footage together (often completely unrelated).

The camera crew also attempt to "direct" the members of each household, try and inflame arguments ("Confront him about that, you shouldn't let him say that to you!").

So basically, it's a bit of a sham, but entertaining none the less I guess.

I am thankful for Supernanny. It teaches people how to parent and let me tell you: MANY MANY people need that lesson.

did she at least wait until after the honeymoon to remove your testicles?

(and dont say that the game was shitty so you turned it off because that has never stopped you before!)
