Garfield Minus Garfield

Some Garfield comic strips removing Garfield and his dialogue.

The end result... is hilarious!

I think I saw this somewhere before. Wasn't there one where they just cut out Garfield's thought bubbles?

Out of the entire Garfield critical subculture that has bubbled to the surface over the past few years, I've found Lasagna Cat to be the funniest and most creative.

It's just funny to see Jon acting like some crazy wackjob, pretending there is someone there to talk to, but there isn't. It is funnier than non captioned Garfield because it is more amusing that he's talking to no one than him talking to his cat and expecting him to answer back.

I disagree. Garfield w/o thought bubbles & "Realfield" (above) are funnier because they are true to the comic strip--Garfield's "speech" is always presented in thought bubbles so, even in the reality of the strip, Jon wouldn't actually be aware of what Garfield is saying/thinking. It's not changing the events as they happen in the strip at all.

I think people are just remembering laughing at Garfield comics when they are 8, and because the presentation is different, it seems like new humor. Its like an optical illusion for the mind, tricking you into thinking something is funny when really its not.

I think the addition of the normal cat is kind of funny if you think about it. I didn't really laugh at any of them (and I did at the removed Garfield ones), but it's just funny to think about it being serious.

Garfield Minus Garfield is gold, but loses a few points in this corner for being late to the Garfield Parody Blog party.

Marmaduke Explained still kicks ass, though.

I'm not sure they qualify as hilarious, but I do find them creepy and slightly amusing. It is easy how disturbing a simple removal like that makes the entire strip.

This is even more disturbing, and is just pulled from the strip.

http://garfieldisdead.ytmnd.com/

I believe it was just a Halloween storyline Davis did for the strip, but without knowing that the first time I was linked to this I thought it was pretty jacked up.

Exackalackaly. I never ever thought Garfield was funny, even as a kid. I laughed out loud at a couple of those without Garfield.

You know, I watched this last night and thought nothing much of it. But then when I tried falling asleep, it kept playing over and over in my head! What the hell!
