Just when you think EA can't piss me off any more...

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167134

Apparently, the only way to get NFL Heach Coach 09 is to buy it with Madden 09 - for $90!!

I was willing to try out Head Coach one more time for a reasonable price, but hell no.

What is the point of making a game for the non-thumb-jockeys if you are going to make them buy it with Madden?

These idiots are driving the sports game genre down the tubes with their assanine decision making.

I'm sure the wizards at Gamestop will sell it separately after they get a bunch of returns. By then you should know whether or not it's shit.

I think how you spelled "assanine" is perfect when describing EA

Remember the video game crash of the 80's, I have a bad feeling it's about to return. With the high priced shitty games and way too much of the same genre (FPS).

The thing is, if Head Coach turns out to be any good, I would probably be buying both it and Madden this year anyway. But it still pisses me off even though it might end up being cheaper. I hate being forced to buy them together.

Plus, I wouldn't want them both at the same time anyway.

You're probably right. Although HC can't go anywhere but up.

I'll only buy it if I can get some massive trade in deal on it. Otherwise, meh. Chances are there will be some pretty big discounts on it if you're willing to wait a few weeks. Halo Legendary Edition dropped reasonably fast. I won't buy madden for 60 bucks anyways, but if I can get the collector package for around that, then maybe it'll happen.

Madden itself is worth about $20-30 and Head Coach is worth about $10-20. Kudos to their marketing and sales teams for coming up with new and ingenious ways of fleecing the consumer.

It doesn't look like it will be for PC. Was the first piece of fecal matter they sold under this name available on PC?

Yes, the last version was available on PC and this one doesn't appear to be.

At this point in the development cycle, they probably have a pretty good idea of how good a product they have on their hands.

Read into that whatever you will.

because EA has a great track record of knowing "how good" their products are....I guess that depends on how you define "good". I'd say "works as intended" is kinda minimum on that.

Nope, the reasons for the crash of 83-84 was because of many reasons, predominately that parents thought they would just buy games for their PC and have their kids play there, but then they realized that they didn't want their kids on their machine so much, so the NES caught a break. Games are becoming bigger each year, and no one will make that mistake again. The Crash (the second one, the first was the Pong Crash) is a non-repeatable phoenemenon.

Yea, probably an 80% chance it's going to suck, but don't have much choice if you want a realistic GM challenge AND watch gameplay.

I would have bought both games because although I expect them to be far below my expectations, like all EA games are, for the amount of money it is still worth it to me.

However the very principal of this is really stupid. One of the all time EA screw jobs in a long, long line of them. Very frustrating that I have given EA so much of my money and know that I will certainly purchase this despite myself.

It does make sense. EA knows they have another POS on their hands so instead of trying to sell the game to a userbase that has already been burned once before they've made it a package deal for uninformed console gamers. A $90 Madden collector's edition, it almost makes the Halofans that bought the $130 cat helmet package look smart.
