I always love these articles. As a Colts fan, nabbing Freeney at 11 has been nothing short of a godsend.

Sigh. If only the Vikings had been fast enough to get to the podium and draft Ryan Sims before we had a chance to complete the trade with Dallas. Granted, we probably then would have ended up with Bryant McKinney. But if not, King Carl would have had a 75% chance of taking a Pro Bowl defensive linemen in Freeney, Haynesworth or Henderson. Sigh.

If you're a fan of some teams, you just have to hate the draft.

For about ten years this was a typical Bengals draft. One good player and nothing else. Schobel is the only pick besides Brown that wasn't a disaster.

1 30 Kendall Simmons Auburn OL-been solid, but not spectacular. Weight issues, diabetes, etc. I guess it's not a miss, but certainly not a hit.

2 30 Antwaan Randle El Indiana WR/QB-Helped win a superbowl, and then bolted for more money. I don't think we used him right in his 4 years, I actually expected a bit more out of him. Should have been more of a Slash type.
3 29 Chris Hope Florida State S-Played pretty well, then left for big money. With our safety issues last year, I would gladly take him back.

4 30 Larry Foote Michigan LB-solid, yet unspectacular. Good value for a 4th rounder, as he's started the last several years.

5 31 Verron Haynes Georgia RB-played for quite awhile, never was that great, but he did have some decent games.

6 30 Lee Mays UTEP WR-FUCK LEE MAYS

7 1* Lavar Glover Cincinnati CB-who?

7 31 Bret Keisel BYU DE-Starter, but mainly by default. Probably needs to be upgraded, however. Still, he's a 7th rounder who played, gotta be something right about him.

4 guys who contributed quite a bit to a superbowl winner, not too shabby drafting. If we had infinite cash, I'd say that Hope/ARE would still be around and starting. To hit on 5 or 6 picks is not too shabby, depending on how you view Haynes. I guess he's basically replacement level value.

Hey, Steve, I'm going to see the Steelers basketball team play against some of the Seton Hill staff/faculty/alumni next week. Two years ago, Lee Mays was on the team. I hope he's still playing basketball for them. That would be amazing. I'll let you know.

Eagles grabbing Lito Sheppard, Michael Lewis, and Sheldon Brown with their first three picks is a great job of drafting. Those three guys have been starters since their 2nd season and that is pretty impressive to get 3/4 of your secondary in one draft. Oh, don't forget about Westbrook with their next pick.

Brilliant draft...probably the best of Reid's time as the Eagles' Head Coach to this point.

Thompson and Manuel are starting for other teams, sure that doesn't help the Bengals, but you can't really blame the team for drafting them, jsut for not keeping them on the field.

2002 was a solid draft considering the way most bengals drafts pan out.

Manuel is a backup and Thompson was Inactive for most of last season with the Dolphins. Given Manuel's draft position he wasn't a disaster, but Thompson was too slow the day we picked him.

Five solid starters (Simmons, ARE, Hope, Foote, and Keisel) and then Haynes, who had a decent run as our 3rd down back. I'd say that is a pretty good class, considering we had picked so late.

I wonder if Lee "F*&%$ing" Mays is still on speed dial?

And the Colts understood just how important he was when he got hurt last year. But Freeney was a great pick. Polian has been so good.
