AVG 8.0 not free anymore?

so I got this popup today that my version 7.5 of AVG wouldn't be supported anymore after May 31 and that I should download version 8.0. I'm thinking, okay, this has happened in the past, let's do this, but the only links on grisoft.com send me to their shop asking me to shell out $59.99cdn to buy AVG 8.0.

So anybody knows what the deal is with it? Is AVG not going to be available for free anymore?

I just installed 8.0 for free yesterday

if you can't find the link on their site (possible because it's convoluted), go to http://www.lifehacker.com

I noticed the link to it on there, and I DL-ed it for free

Try this link (then scroll nearly to the bottom for the download button). I didn't do the download but I did follow the link trail all the way to a page that clearly stated 8.0 Free

Took a little Googling but apparently they have finally released the free 8.0

thing is, the popup came when my son was on the computer so I told him to simply click the "remind me later" button. Then when I came back on, opened up the control panel and see that ad banner announcing version 8.0, clicking it brings you to this page:
http://www.grisoft.com/ww.special-ge...eecnv.tpl-mcr1

No way to find the free download on that particular page, very decieving...

I think they've been pulling this little stunt since version 5. But, if you look around, there's always a link to a free version, it just takes some looking.
