It's put up or shutup time for Hartford, to be honest. That team is way too stacked not to win. They remind me of New York in the early 60s, with all of that talent and not able to string together a title. But this is different, since Hartford was built from the ground up effectively.
You gotta like the champs, too. I mean, they managed to stay solid all last year and it served them super well. For our part, I think that Compton will surprise people. We've got solid pitching, including some youngsters waiting to break out. Our offense is pretty well balanced, too. Last year's team showed me that it's possible for this team to contend and I feel like we upgraded our problem areas and other than losing Inman, we didn't really lose much -- and I suspect that Tom Wallace and whoever else I choose to platoon him with -- will be replacement level for Inman anyway. So I chose Compton. Not because I'm a homer, but because I really do think we'll surprise people. If not us, though -- and it's possible, since there are so many ifs -- I'm thinking Ann Arbor will shock the league. They were close in the CL last year, before faltering down the stretch. I don't think Chicago has the pitching to hang yet, but...you gotta watch them and see how they get it together. Really, this is the first year that I thought almost all of the teams in the league could make a viable claim on one of the top 3 spots, depending on how stuff pans out. I'm very much looking forward to this season. |

I like Hartford again this year. They are one of the most stacked teams in the league all they have to do is get it together. My biggest concern is that they have under performed for several years now with 8, 5, and 5 less wins each of the last three season then they were expected and it appears to get bigger and bigger each season and I am not sure if that will change this year. I do not think they will need more wins then projected but feel they will need to get the number down to 3 less wins anything over and I think someone else will be winning.

Man, I am the only one to pick the champs--myself--to win? That's a bummer. I'll just have to relay that to my team so they can take it out on the rest of the RL.
