Reflections on Goal Line Blitz
Because the other GLB thread turned into a matchmaking service, I thought it would be good to start a new thread on what you think about the game overall. Does it have a future? Will something else come along? I found the early days of the game fascinating, and maybe it will still evolve in an interesting direction, but I also get the sense that the phenomenon is reaching a plateau and may come down quickly.
I should point out that I don't own or coach a team, so maybe I'm missing a lot of the fun. Although I make a real effort to create a useful player, i don't boost and have no interest in fighting my way up to the USA pro league. I know many of you take it more seriously. How would you rank it as a game?

I do not own a team as well and have not invested flex points. I have thought about buying into the game, but just really do not think there will be much of a future. I think it will start to die off eventually as I do not think they have enough measures in place to have the ordinary customer wanting to keep buying into the game. Examples of this would be, broken promises, users taking advantage of new users, young kids in charge of teams. All of which the admin does nothing about and I think will be disastrous for them down the road.

If you are willing to spend money to boost and find yourself on an active team, then I think the game can be a lot of fun.

Played MMORPGs much? That type of thing happens in every game I've been a part of. I'm not sure what broken promises you're speaking of, but the admins have seemed to be mostly on the up-and-up from what I've seen and in comparison with some other games I've played. Quote:
I think it's a pretty decent game currently, not fantastic, not perfect, but pretty fun. I think like other MMORPGs, you can get a lot more out of it the more you're willing to put into it (being a coordinator / team owner) and being on an active and fun team can greatly increase your enjoyment of the game. The head admin and only programmer to my knowledge seems to have a good idea as to what needs to be done to improve the game (increasing the complexity of the play calling system this season, for next season he spoke about more options for individuals to do for training and off-game days). I think the fact that it got as large as it did so quickly has slowed down the pace of some of these changes entering the game. One thing that hurts the game is currently there's not much you can do as your player reaches the higher levels. Because the cost required to increase your skills and special abilities increase and because your rate of exp gain is much slower, you are pretty set in your build at that point and can't do all too much to change or improve it. |

I quickly lost interest due to the having to pay to boost to keep up with everyone else. Plus, the completely unrealistic results didn't help.

That is how I felt too. I was lucky enough to get two players on human teams right away, and they were both decent teams, but top it off with a falling out with one of my teams and it just didn't do enough to keep me interested. Still a cool game though.
