Probably. I'm not a big Clausen fan (my backup has gotten some time this year). We just don't have that explosion we need on both sides of the ball. Last edited by Galaxy : 09-20-2008 at 12:33 AM. |

Crushing? Next week is going to be a big game. We both need wins for different reasons. a win will get us to 5-3 going to games with BC, USC, Georgia, and Syracuse; a lost will put us at 4-4 with a rather challenging slate. A win or loss for you is all about the BCS bowl bid (and possibility the Big Ten title). It should be a close, fun game. On a side note, what stops a QB sneak? Both big and I scored off it, and it looks like they just walked in. I've only ran it once or twice and defended it maybe twice, so I really have found the right plays to stop it. |

I've always considered the QB sneak to be a cheese play, and I refuse to use it. I haven't seen it stopped since the 90's versions of Madden. I've seen at least 1 person on FOFC use it before...it didn't make me happy but whatever.

It does seem rather unstoppable.
Penn State represents a huge threat to our hopes of a Big Ten title. If we could somehow beat them, that would be incredible. But it will take a minor miracle. Superior talent on the field, and superior talent behind the controller. But we will give them our best shot. I'd feel much better if it were Michigan on our schedule, and not PSU. I feel like the other three games on our schedule (Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Purdue) are all pretty winnable for us. I don't think we'll beat PSU. Last edited by Kodos : 09-19-2008 at 05:05 PM. |

You need to earn the Big Ten title. Sun picking Penn State did just that for both of us . Michigan has to play Ohio state still to earn theirs.

Oh, I agree. Although, just between you and me, the Big Ten title will go to you or me. Michigan doesn't stand a chance. (You'll see to that.) And we all know that the mere fact that we even have a chance at the title is due to the fluke in the schedule where we ended up not playing OSU this year. And to a much lesser degree, Michigan.
Although, technically, I would not mind seeing Michigan win that game. In fact, that scenario would delight me. But then OSU is right up there with ND on my hate list. Last edited by Kodos : 09-19-2008 at 05:34 PM. |

I've only used it two or three times before, so I really haven't had much chance get a handle on it. I think I'll "retire" using it (even on fourth and inches). Last edited by Galaxy : 09-19-2008 at 05:44 PM. |

I haven't used it from 3 yards out. It works that well? I only use it from 1 yard or inches out. I'm not going to use it against RFL/NOFL members if its that much of a cheese play. I think your rules against the CPU are pretty good. Last edited by Galaxy : 09-19-2008 at 06:09 PM. |

FWIW, I think there are a few things much cheesier than a QB sneak which I think is legitimate in a few situations, even though I almost never call it.

I played a really poor game with 2 redzone interceptions, but we still beat Arizona 28-14.

Yeah, I try not to call the sneak against human opponents. It would have been real hard to not use it in the situation I was in last night at the end of the game though. The decision was made easier though since you had already scored using it earlier on. I have been stuffed on it once, in a real big spot, in another league for what it's worth. The guy I was playing just crowded the Center with extra defenders and I ended up losing a yard or two on 4th down.

I would of had never used it if I knew how cheesy it was. Like I said, I haven't had much experience with it, so I didn't know. Hope you weren't mad when I did it. |

Did the RFL start with fictitious names?

Nope, not mad at all. I'm still kind of on the fence about whether or not it is cheese. Most teams in real life can get a couple of inches on a qb sneak, so....? |

If its 4th and inches I go for the QB sneak but only if it is inside the 50 otherwise I punt.

I didn't get a chance to play my game on Saturday. Will have to do it on Sunday, but I'll try to make it early.

Eh...I don't know. I think it depends on the quarterback and the defense. However, it just seems like you can't do anything to stop it (regardless if it's a great defense, a crappy QB or offensive line). When you can pick up 2-3 yards every time on a QB sneak, it just seems unrealistic to me. |

It's not true that you can pick up 2-3 yards every time, especially with a slow QB, Rudy Carpenter, for example. I'd say 1 yard or less is automatic unless the other player really over commits.

Guys, I'm afraid I'm not gonna get to my game until tonight (like I'm going to finish less than an hour before deadline). I have a hundred things to do today. Sorry to hold things up!

Just noticed I am @ Purdue next game, so I'll exact revenge for you Pump.
Then I lock horns with the Gophers, followed up with Northwestern. If all goes well, it'll be UM vs OSU for the B10 title. Fuck Indiana. |

I forgot to doublecheck my schedule last week after you'd asked about that, but yep, just 11 games, and I believe 6 wins and .500 is what you need to qualify. Tech plays 12 games this year, but KWhit unscheduled the UGA/Ga Tech game, and the CPU doesn't pick up another game for the CPU team in those cases I guess, so I've only got 11. |

I'm revising my previous estimate to 0 wins for IU. It's obvious that we suck this year after the BSU game. |
