British Open

Am I the only one shocked no one has commented on this yet. The guy wins with his first top 10 finish ever. His finacee was pretty hot (does everyone get married a month after they do something great, are they like "I think I'll win a major, I should get married a month later).

There was a lot of drama at the end. It was great seeing ABC cut from shot to shot over the last 10 minutes. It ws amazing to watch Singh, Love, Woods and Bjorn falter all in succession. It was just one shot after another that went wrong, and they all had an opportunity to make a great shot to have a chance. I mean, it was crazy how all that had to happen for this guy to win. And he's just standing on the practice grounds, lightly hitting a ball. I was amazed how subdued he was when he won. Just kind of stood there and the media came right after him. He looked totally unfazed.

Perhaps because it happened around 1 and no one could watch it.

Good chance this will end up like the Open a couple of years ago where the guy loosing is remembered more than the eventual winner.

Bjorn's three shots to get out of the bunker will join Van der Velde's flirtations with the burn at Carnoustie as the bit that will be remembered, while Curtis will join Paul Lawrie as the winner who's an afterthought?

Curtis, being an American, will get more attention than Lawrie. Bjorn is also a much better player than Van de Velde, and this won't be his only chance to win a major (he already has 3 2nd's).

Has it even gotten any attention? Did it even make the main story on ESPN.com?

It was the main story nearly all day yesterday on espn.com. This wasn't like Van de Velde, who spectacularly did it all on the last hole in regulation but the comparison of someone in the clubhouse winning because everyone dropped below him was quite comparable.
