Well looks like 5 are now a lock for induction and the fate of three falls in the hands of the final two voters.

I am glad you didn't say who you're referring to, as I am still considering my vote. I will submit it tomorrow night.

The FOOL Hall of Fame is proud to induct:

Quote:
SP Gabriel Prado
3B Rick Inman
CL Aaron Dailey
OF Fernando Spindola
SP Benny Myers

SP Tom Williams earned at least 40% (Ramz voted for him and isn't a member of the committee, as the current rules stated he needed to be. so his decisive vote was nullified.) of the vote and will be on the ballot next season. All other players will be relegated to the Veterans Committee, which has not yet convened (probably won't be for a few years...) to be inducted possibly at a future date, but will no longer be considered on the regular ballot.

So would O'Neal and Hernandez appear next year as well since they recieved 2 of the 7 votes as Williams did?

No, the threshold for returning on the ballot is 40% He had 42% of the vote, so he gets to be on the ballot next year. The rest don't. In a few years, we'll do a veterans committee and anyone who didn't get in the regular way can be nominated and we can vote on them in some form or fashion. But I don't wanna clog the ballot up each year on retreads or whatever.

I was asking because Williams only recieved votes from you and Muns, unless ekcut is also a member and just wasn't listed.

Oh, I thought ekcut was a member. (Tells you how much I pay attention)

That's my mistake. I guess Williams won't be considered after all. Thanks Commo.

BTW, I did not look at the votes at the top, and I don't know what effect my ballot might have on things.

Chief's vote triggers the 40% rule for Tom Williams, which means that he will be on next year's ballot. Nothing else changes.

Hmmmm....the 40% rule I dislike for this initial year. I personally think that ALL of these players are HOF worthy, but there was something 'wrong' with voting for all of them. So I voted for who I thought were the best of the bunch. I have a feeling that the guys not elected in this year, or even those not reaching 40%, will still be better then most of the players on the next ballot.
Because I think this initial year will have the greatest depth, I feel a few worthy player may slip through the cracks. I'm putting in out there that if others agree, this year we can forgo the 40% rule and have all of these players remain on the ballot.

Voting for the HoF will start to be every other year. And it's not as if these players will NEVER be able to be considered again.

There will be a veterans committee that will convene in one or two more cycles (I haven't decided yet) and that group will be able to nominate players like these who weren't carried over. Then people can vote on them and some will indeed be inducted as the veterans committee rules will state that at least two of them get in via that process.

But for now, I like what we've done here. It was open, transparent and the consensus picks were obvious and the only one that was borderline was T. Williams who arguably will get in next year anyway.

Short of just inducting every personal favourite of ours into the Hall, there had to be some criteria and I think what we have here is pretty fair and consistent.
