Holiday/Black Friday Deals Thread
I'll post a few for starters.
11/16-Sears-Friends and Family sale from 6-9pm This is typically the best prices for appliances you will find. All of the Kenmore stuff(typically made by Whirlpool, LG, Fridgidaire, etc) will be 20% off of list price. And then there is an additional 10% special event savings. So a 2000 dollar list retail fridge sells for approximately 1440 dollars that night. Pretty good, imo. The only time you get close to that price is when you use a store card usually. Also, there are a few front loader sets on deep discount that night. Basically buy one piece, get one free. I'm not sure on exact models, I don't think it's top end shit, but it's still frontloader sets for the prices you'd normally pay for above average top loaders. Also all tv's are 5% off that night. Biggest sale item I see is a 37" 1080p Panasonic LCD for 400 off. After event savings, roughly 760. This is a really nice set for that price. I'm sure there are other things out there in the TV world, but nothing else that really jumped out at me. |

Just be forewarned.
Because of the Bradley Effect, prices might not be quite as low as you expect. |

Interesting. Our washer/dryer are nearly 20 years old and on their last legs. The wife has been begging me for a new set. This might be the time to do it...

Love it. Keep these adds coming. I'm thinking there is going to be some highway robbery with fears on sales totals this holiday season.

I'm more a fan of Black Friday Ads - The Official Black Friday 2008 Website . They have a good forum and provide some good tips for the day. Fat Wallet isn't a bad website either. |

So how early do I need to get to Wal-Mart in order to snag one of the 42" LCD's? How many units do they usually get in?

extremely early. like after you're done eating the turkey. it actually depends on how big your wal-mart is and how big your city is. I work at wal-mart, but its relatively small and we don't have very many. Last edited by k0ruptr : 11-24-2008 at 06:53 PM. |

So would something like 10pm be too late? My family is coming in and I want to spend time with them and head up there when everyone starts getting ready for bed etc.

you are going to need to get to any store insanely early to get any kind of deal.
I remember a few years ago driving past a Best Buy at 4:00 AM and there was a huge line of people. |

Like they've said, very very early. Not only that, but you need to research where in the store the units will be so you can run your ass off to get where they are as soon as you get in the door. From my one experience, we got to the Wal Mart about an hour before it opened and there was a huge line already (and this is in Vermont). By the time we got in and tried to figure out where we were going to pick up the laptop, they had already sold out of the 12 or so they had, and they were being kept where you would intuitively expect them...in the men's clothing section. The experience was so much fun that I will never do it again. |

You're best bet is to go to a Supercenter if you have one near you, since it is 24 hours and you won't have to wait in the cold. They might be giving out tickets for it, but I'm not sure at what time and each store got varying amounts.

Not only do you get to stay inside the store, but there's not the rush to grab items like someone mentioned above. It's relatively orderly. |

I was in my local Walmart tonight and they had already prestaged some of the Black Friday stuff. It was sealed and wrapped but I think if you spent some time researching you could get a good idea what might be on each skid. I'm not sure everything was out either, but there were skids in each aisle. |

Pre-Black Friday, but hhgregg has a web only deal (at hhgregg.com) today for a Panasonic DMP-BD 35k Blu-Ray Player (which is one of the best 2.0 Blu-ray players out there right now if you don't need multichannel analog audio) for $200 and free shipping (though there may be tax).
In addition Panasonic has a deal where if you by the 35k, you get "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Ratatouille" free on Blu-ray. I just got mine .

hmmm, Im tempted but I just dont need the 2.0 capabilities in my bedroom. I use the PS3 in the Family room....I think Ill stick w/ the 1.2 I bought for the bedroom to avoid the hassle of having to return it and all.
