So where does OOTP9 stand? I was greatly disappointed by 2006 and 2007, but I'm willing to try again at a reduced price if enouugh people think it's improved.

*two thumbs up*

in many ways, ootp9 delivers what many people had been expecting in ootp2006/07 but didn't get. very stable realistic sim engine, polished, etc.

Probably not the best time to ask this. For the most part I have been happier with ootp9 then previous versions of the game. But over the last few months I've just become entirely disenfranchised with devastating bugs being unfixed and barely even acknowledged as well as the most recent patch causing all kinds of extra problems for online leagues.

If I had to buy a baseball simulation game, I'd pick OOTP and do still think this version is an improvement over past versions.

Awwww, crap. Just bought OOTP9 over the weekend for $40. That'll teach me to make a full priced purchase. I'll hold out in the future.

i have enjoyed OOTP 9 - i actually need to reinstall it on my rebuilt laptop. It fills the craving for a career baseball sim.

Due to a security fix it is necessary for all league members to run the latest patch if the commish does so. That's hardly an extra problem, but something that was impossible to avoid, unfortunately...

It is if the people are in multiple leagues upgrading at different times...

Yeah, it was more to do with the issue I brought up over at the OOTP forums regarding the security fix doesn't actually fix the security though. I offered over there to provide more information on what I meant, but no one took me up on the offer. I'd be happy to share with you how it is easy to get around that security fix in private. I don't desire to just post it here in public is all.

You can use different exes in that case.

Well, everything can be hacked. But feel free to PM me, I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Well, isn't a workaround the following:

Just create an FTP account that only has access to the export directory and use that in-game?

How is Title Bout? I've never purchased a fighting sim but it looks kind of cool.

Yes, that was the suggestion I gave people on the ootp boards before the security patch was done. The only issue that causes is that it would break the commish when he runs html report uploads. So he either would have to do that piece manually, or would have to remember to change the account/password for the reports and then change it back when done each time.

I feel partially responsible. Like I said before, if I had to choose just one Baseball simulation on the market, I would easily pick OOTP. I also like ootp9 better then any past version. (I have owned every version since ootp2 I believe). I just am frustrated due to lack of attention from various issues that have been brought up for several months causing me grief in this game is all.

Heh, I do it manually anyway. The game sucks for making, compressing, and exploding HTML. As it is, it takes an hour to compress the reports.

Alan, you're a consumer. It's your right to complain. And you're a respectful guy to boot. Don't feel like you need to defend yourself. Surely, Markus has seen worse. And if he hasn't, he's not watching.

You're the least of his worries.

That is exactly why I don't do it manually. I just set the game to do that whole process while I go to sleep at night. I don't care if it takes 5 hours if it is the 5 hours I sleep
