Gauging Interest in Another BBCF League
I’m gauging interest in starting up another BBCF league, with some differences from the other ones that I’ve seen.
Most of the online leagues use a playoff system, which might be the preference of the majority of college football fans across the country, but it isn’t going to happen in real life for at least another 15 years (if ever). Also, many of the online leagues are using outdated bowl games (like the Houston Bowl, MPC Computers Bowl, etc.), and none of them are using a full slate of bowls. For this proposed league: • All teams will play 12 game schedules. • The Pac Ten teams will play full round robin conference schedules. • The modern bowl lineup will be played with the current conference affiliations, including the rotating BCS National Championship Game and the newly added EagleBank Bowl and St. Petersburg Bowl. • The rivalry games will be adjusted to move Brigham Young-Utah, Kansas-Missouri and Nebraska-Colorado to the last game of the season. With that, I’d like to see who might be interested in participating, and if you have any other suggestions, feel free to share them here. If this does go forward, I plan on coaching UNLV, as it would be a refreshing challenge trying to build up a non-BCS team to get them to the top of the Mountain West and perhaps be a “BCS buster” some day. Tentative Interest - Team Vegas Vic - UNLV Celeval - ??? Recoil - ??? RedKingGold - Penn State Icy - ??? Mauboy1 - ??? Dark Cloud - ??? GoldenEagle - ??? It's been a while, but depending on other parameters I might be interested.

Yes. Dig the more realistic bowl system compared to the playoff system.

So 10 Big Ten games, 2 out-of-conference games?

Yes sir. I've done some extensive testing, and it works flawlessly. No more Ohio State not playing Wisconsin or Michigan not playing Penn State. I just need to keep a spreadsheet archive for the SchedMatch games to make sure there's equity in the home and away games. Last edited by Vegas Vic : 12-19-2008 at 10:24 PM. |

I think I'd give it a shot.
I have BBCF but have not really used it much. As long as I can have Penn State. ![]() Last edited by RedKingGold : 12-19-2008 at 10:49 PM. |

By the way, this isn't written in stone, and I'm open for suggestions if people feel that it's too restrictive. In real life, the eleven Big Ten teams only play nine conference games each. What's bad about BBCF is that they only play eight conference games, which means each Big Ten team ends up skipping two opponents every year. In the Pac Ten, BBCF only schedules eight conference games, but as you can see below, the SchedMatch table allows us to replicate the round robin that the Pac Ten plays in real life: ![]() |

I'm pretty sure that in real life, Big Ten teams only play eight conference games each, so BBCF has that right. |

You're right. I just checked the Big Ten schedules. I think I'll get some feedback from those who express an interest in joining the Big Ten. We could keep it at the eight games assigned by BBCF if that's what they want. |

I don't know if this is useful, but here's more info on how Big Ten scheduling works from wikipedia:

One thing that I'm not proficient in is web hosting, so if this goes forward I would need some assistance with getting the site set up with ftp transfer, php, etc. Of course, I would pay for it and do the heavy lifting, but I don't have any experience with setting up a BBCF online league.

I've never played in a BBCF league. But I think I'd be intrigued to learn...

Actually, I don't think that it requires developing an actual website, as the game itself does a good job of creating a full set of html pages for online leagues. However, I'm still without a clue on how to go about setting up the ftp file transfer to get it up and running after I have the web host activated. |
