Hartford/Baltimore Trade (1971)

After intense negotiations involve threats, name calling and much verbal abuse (Again, I'm sorry about some of that) a trade has been made...

Hartford Sends

OF Gustavo sanchez

Baltimore Sends

SP Roberto Padilla and a 3rd round pick this year.

Hartford reluctanly agrees Eric you got pretty lucky... Right after I sent the "ok" , A deal came out of nowhere that killed yours......

I said ok though and it shall go though as much as it pains me

Baltimore

OF Gustavo Sanchez- Gustavo had his best season ever in Baltimore that year and one of his 3 all star selections as well. He hit 371, with 14 homers and 66 RBI'S with 21 stolen bases. His OOPS was 1.017 and his VORP was 58.3. He was let go into free agency after his historic season, and played 8 more seasons with 3 different teams.

Hartford

SP Roberto Padilla- Roberto was a late bloomer and played in Hartford the next 5 years of his career, his last one being an all star. He went 61-59 with an average ERA of 3.85. he struck out 845 batters and had an average WHIP of 1.27. His total VORP was 124.1.

Evaluation

While Sanchez had one heck of a year for Baltimore, Padilla produced more over time and equaled Sanchez in all star appearances. This one goes to Hartford.
