Indiana beats Northwestern handily despite a lackluster performance by our offense. Three pick sixes and a kick return TD were all that was needed to give us an easy win. Northwestern made it look more respectable in the 4th against our scrubs. Until their final pick six.
Next we travel to Michigan, where the fun will likely end. |

Clemson had their best offensive performance...ever, beating NC State 66-35. We scored twice on pick sixes, and lead 66-21 with under a minute to go. I wanted to see if the backups could put one more score on the board, and Al Francis grossly overthrew his receiver, leading to a 101 yard TD return. On the ensuing onside kick, my freshman LB Dominic King recovered it. I ran backwards away from the tacklers, melting time off the clock. I then dove, but fumbled (I thought about challenging it, but with 2 seconds left, it wasn't worth it), and NC State ran it in for another TD.
So, sorry defense, for screwing up your points allowed.

Actually friday should work fine...I get a little sleepy around 9pm (yes, I am one old bastard). Maybe we could aim for an 8pm kickoff?

I got crushed today by 2 crisis patients and didn't arrive home until late. My wife has plans for tonight and Thursday is my long day and is not an option. Friday, I might be able to play late. I'd much rather play early on either Saturday or Sunday. I'm available all day both days. |

Pumpy had quoted all of the times as being pacific time in his post, and so had I in my original, so I just assumed we were speaking in pacific time from now on.

Excellent! I'm usually up by 9 central on Saturday and definitely no later than 10. So anytime after 7 AM Pacific will be good for me. Just let me know when you want to meet and I'll be there. |

PSU travels to Rival Minnesota's house in a big week 7 matchup. The game was neck and neck with Pumpy leading a very slow, methodic, time consuming offense down the field...eatting up what must have been 80% of the first half's TOP. At halftime the score was knotted up 7-7. In the second half my pass rush came alive as I sacked him 7 times, including a fumble that was recovered and run back 50+ yards for a TD to get momentum moving in my favor. His QB was eventually knocked out of the game, which makes all but one game this year that we have accomplished that feat. My offense turned things up in the second half too...scoring very quickly on each drive. Whether it was a quick pitch to the outside taken to the house or a blown coverage down field leaving a Heisman leading candidate wide open...for some reason things just openned up. PSU puts up 42 points in the second half to the Golden Gophers 7, and the Governers Victory Bell stays in Happy Valley for at least one more year.
gg Pumpy...classy the whole way as always. With some more speed and some half way decent WR's to throw to, you wouldn't have to scramble as often as you do. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Bigsmooth played a smart strong 1st half, with a tenacious frustrating running attack and great run defense (particularly interior run defense.) But it fell apart with a pick towards the end of the half and then a very lucky play in which McKnight scooped up an errant option toss and took it in anyway for the TD. We got the ball to start the 2nd half and took over the game at that point as he threw a few more picks and our offense was able to take advantage. USC wins at home vs Washington 49-21.

Good game and summary, Eaglesfan. That pick at the end of the half was a back breaker. STUPID!

Yeah, it was a very tense fun first half and I know once you get some more weapons at Washington, you are going to be hard to beat.

Welp, I was ready to advance us, but it looks like Sir Fozzie and kcchief haven't played yet. I'll send them a reminder that the deadline is tonight.

Yeah, I got him tonight and was making a list of things I need to do for work and all of a sudden thought, "Hey! I used to be in the RFL. I wonder if that thing is still around?"
What do you know ... it is! And I have a game to play. Here goes nothing! |

Wow ... either me or this team sucks. Since I just made the national title game in the NOFL with Colo-freakin-rado, I'm going to blame this team.
Texas blew us out. Can't stop the run, can't stop the pass. If you don't score 40 on us, you stink. We can't run, can't catch. I don't have any answers. Granted, this week we were further handicapped because both our starting QB (2 weeks) and RB (4 weeks) both got knocked out of the game but it was over long before either one got knocked out. We're in rebuilding mode. Recruiting looks OK for now but if we can't win games we're going to start losing recruits. I'm going with a bit of a youth movement now, going with freshmen and sophomores where I can to build for next year. I'm not overloaded with senior talent anyway. |
