Holdout? Are you kidding me? I don't care if you were the in-game Offensive Player of the Year, bub. Without me, you'd be working down at the A&P in Kurt Warner's old job.

This both scares and excites me at the same time. I'm real worried I won't come away with anyone I want.

Indeed, very interesting, I was modest with my offers and if I don't get anyone then I take one on the chin this year which isn't too bad since I still have a couple of cancerous contracts on my roster. Worst case scenario I have more cash to maneuver next year when I expect things will be less intense. I expect some huge offers on some of these guys, maybe too rich for my blood.
Have to say tho that I absolutely love this format we have here. It boils things down to the essentials of cap management and talent selection, which IMO is a lot like the NFL. Because of the hard cap in the NFL talent is easy to aquire, hell an empty team could have fielded a decent (if not old as hell) roster just out of the FAs available this year or any recent year for that matter. I think this league will reflect that, where even a squad on the brink of calapse could take a season or two at most to cut bad contracts and get serious help from not just the rookie pool but the FAs I expect to start hitting the market in the next couple years, I fully expect some veteran free agent talent to be a regular option in FA1 in years to come. Very exciting.

So what do we do with the guys who "are reluctant to sign more than a 2 year deal?"

My only problem is I scouted a K that I think will do well who was drafted so I miss out.

I wish there was a way to get all the drafted players back into the FA pool. There are some players I wanted to pick up...lol

Will be interesting to see how much money teams are willing to throw at untested rookies, I think those who can evaluate better than me will be much more bold.
Overall not as much fun as I thought it was going to be though. |

We have to give it at least 2-3 seasons. I do however believe that some bold teams will not worry about carrying on after 2 or 3 seasons when those HUGE contracts they offered come to bite them in the ass. I have offered 3 BIG contracts to players I think will be good, I doubt very much that I will get near those teams with A LOT of cap space. |

I'm working my own theory on this as well. I figure I will change my approach based on my cap space versus cap space of my opponents..
It will be interesting to see how this shakes out in the first couple weeks of FA2, as these young players may sign pretty quickly if they have not received any initial attention from other teams.
