Agreed. Not even one front line SP is surprising.

The draft sucks so I'm sorry for Alan in advance. Also, I'm not leaving him with any money.

I am not having any problems with the server, but Tasan mentioned there might have been issues at like 2 or 3 in the morning last night? I'll hold off on running FOOL's sim until noon today to give you some time (unless you get it in sooner). Let me know if you still have a problem with it this morning and I'll put it in a different location for you.

Still not working this morning. I get "could not open connection to the FTP server" in game. If I try to download the League File from the Links page it fails as well. I'll keep trying.

Try here to see if you can pull the file down from here:

FILE

In order to figure out why you can't get the file in the first place, are you able to look at the FOOL export tracker or FOOL HTML or such? Or can you not see that either? Everything looks like it is working fine for me, but Tasan also mentioned having issues while I was sleeping last night.

What IP address are you getting when you try to ping BBCF League Site from a command prompt?

Ok, I got all of the exports, so starting this one up soon.

For the people having issues connecting, if someone can hop on AIM and has some time, I would like to try to figure out why you can't connect.

Is it possible to ping through command on a Mac? If so, I don't know how.

As for AIM I can hop on a little later but I have to get some stuff done around the house as the girlfriends parents are scheduled for arrival around noon.

Oh, I have no idea how to do much on MAC. If is is one of the Macs that run on top of a unix OS, then you probably can.

I have a feeling this season's free agent class might be the highest paid yet.

Friday, November 10th, 2023: FOOL News: Free Agents File
The opening day of FOOL free agency arrives today with a flurry of activity as players file their paperwork to become free agents.

For the next several months, players and their prospective suitors will be locked in fierce negotiations. Deals will come together, fall apart and be resurrected again. Teams will fight to meet their needs while staying within their budget. Throughout the process, there will be second-guessing from fans and media alike. Even players who remain under contract will keep an eye on things, curious as to who will be sharing their locker room in the coming season and whether that bodes well or ill for their own careers.

Months from now, when the free agency period has settled down, fans will finally get a glimpse at the latest version of their team.

A number of quality players have filed for free agency and could generate a lot of interest. Most notable among them are:

1. Mark Chattaway, 34 year-old starting pitcher
2. Miguel Serrano, 31 year-old first baseman
3. Yoritomo Yamasaki, 35 year-old starting pitcher
4. Alejandro Nájera, 29 year-old starting pitcher
5. Lorne Ridell, 28 year-old right fielder
6. Guonçalo Castel, 32 year-old third baseman
7. Erik Bowden, 36 year-old left fielder
8. Ángel Aguilera, 34 year-old starting pitcher
9. Marty Harrington, 35 year-old first baseman
10. Héctor Romero, 31 year-old shortstop

HTML and player development is updated!

Who will spend the megabucks on Romero? It seems like he is only improving as he gets older!

That could have been worse. Maybe the news guys I got last year and this year will develop by the time I get back and I can steal all the credit back from Alan.

I hope everyone has a fantastic 3 weeks without me. Try not to cry or anything, I'll be back. Plus, I'll probably check in when I get internet because I'm compulsive like that. Bye guys!

I have no cash (and in fact someone is going to get cut), so I won't be contributing to the FA inflation.

I think I have about the worst dollar-per-win cost in FOOL...

The draft went well enough I suppose. Picked up three guys that should be able to make the majors, and no controversial AI picks

Alan, what is the program you use to see the player development graphed out like that?

Cool thanks. On a side note you can ping websites/i.p.'s from the terminal in Mac OS X. Just type ping and then the web address or the ip address.

I created a new stickied thread just temporarily that has the alternate file location for the couple of people who have had issues lately. At least until we can work through them. I'll try to make sure to keep the alternate location updated each day

Tasan and I spent some time on AIM and got his working. If anyone else is having problems, please let me know and I'm more than happy to spend time in trying to get you up and running.

I liked getting my #3 overall (Gilbert Edwards) at 10, although I would have been happy with any of 3-7 (all pitchers, no stars, but all potential decent starters). Edwards was essentially the top pitcher available, IMO, in a weak pitcher's draft.

Too many C's, though, in the later rounds. I always seem to end up with C's. Not that that's a bad thing, but at some point, it becomes hard to convert C's into SS's and CF's.

Oh, and I contributed heavily to the free agent pool, as the demands of both Castel and Harrington were ridiculous, and I decided I was less inclined to bring back around half of my pen. And I don't have much money to spend, so I guess it will be fun for some other teams.

I often end up with a few catchers. And then i bring them up and trade or demote the old one b/c they can't hang with the young studs.

The new file is up, and HTML is currently being updated.

Also, I have the updated file in the alternate link (from the stickied thread) if anyone has problems getting it from the normal location.

7am ET tomorrow morning we will run Spring Training and Free Agency Day 2!

I'm ecstatic He'll make 20 million this year, but a reasonable 12 million per year the rest of the contract.

Not exactly the results I was hoping for, but I didn't really set any lineups or depth charts so w/e. I will consider this season a success if we eclipse the 80 win mark which we haven't done in almost a decade. Hopefully this losing doesn't continue, I don't want to become the Pittsburgh Pirates of FOOL.
