Edmonton scores first yet again, with 1 in the fourth inning to take the early lead, but Hartford ties it right back up in the next inning on a Prebble RBI single.

The game is pretty much over in the top of the 7th when Brennan Ward hits a pinch hit GRAND SLAM home run to put Hartford up for good.

The game just gets ugly in the 9th inning, so I will spare ekcut the details.

Hernandez pitches 7 innings, striking out 6 and giving up just 2 runs on 6 hits for Hartford in the win.

The veteran Kieran Browne is unable to get things done as the Harpooners get 17 hits and Hartford finds themselves just one win away from a FOOL Classic sweep, with you guess it.. Lemieux to pitch tomorrow.

Hartford 12, Edmonton 2

Hartford leads the FOOL Classic 4 games to 0.

FOOL CLassic game 5:

Lemieux pitches for Hartford (1-0 2.00 ERA this postseason)
vs
Rodgers for Edmonton (0-2 14.14 ERA this postseason)

We've seen these type of matchups before. We all know what usually happens. My prediction is Rodgers will throw a perfect game to keep Edmonton alive or something silly like that.

Nice...Rogers got his ERA down to 14 after his last game despite getting shelled....

No perfect game here for Rodgers as he gives up a single in the second inning, but gets out of the inning without anyone scoring at least to keep the shut out intact!

In the bottom of the second, Bruce Jamison hits one right to the center fielder, who loses the ball and misses the catch for an error to allow Rosales score. Edmonton leads 1-0 after 2 innings!

Neither team scores in the third inning, but Hartford strikes back in the 4th on a Brennan Ward RBI double to tie the game up 1-1!

In the top of the 5th, a Prebble 2-run homer gives the Harpooners a 3-1 lead which they hold through the 7th.

With 2 innings left in this one, the Harpooners are on top 3-1, Edmonton must win to prevent a FOOL Classic Sweep.

Great...we all know the ending of any story that begins "Edmonton scores first...."

In the top of the 8th, Kelley starts off with a base on balls, followed by a Ward Single, Tex Jones Pinch hit single, and Kui RBI double that scores two runs. That is all she wrote for Rodgers as he is lifted for a new pitcher: Matt Knight.

Knight gets a pop up, and two ground outs to get out of the inning, but one more run scores and Hartford takes a commanding 6-1 lead.

Edmonton is unable to do anything in either the 8th or 9th innings, and the lead holds for a Hartford victory!

Lemieux pitches a complete game, striking out 9 and allowing 0 earned runs to score on 5 hits. Edmonton's only run was due to an error.

Hartford 6, Edmonton 1

The Hartford Harpooners are the 2033 FOOL Champions!

This is the first Hartford championship in 42 years, and the first Classic sweep since Napa Valley won 5 games to 0 in 2029!

You're telling me. I am shocked. I always offer Mutuals in contracts like the one I gave Rosales a few seasons ago, but the players almost always want to come back. I usually have to push them out the door.

In fact, I have 3-4 mutuals up this season, and obviously, they all want to go back. I wonder what Rosales would have done if he was still with Hammersmith.

Hope you resign him.

Resigning him is doubtful. He is asking for almost double his old salary...Oh well...you win some you lose some!

The FOOL Franchise History page has been updated. In addition to Hyde's first FOOL Championship, the fantastic season helped jump him from 30th to 21st all time in winning % as well!
