Dropped out: Georgia (15) UNC (18) FSU (19) Michigan St. (24)
New: Houston (9) Auburn (17) TCU (19) Clemson (22)
Notes:
-Florida looked better than Alabama this week but it's still Troy. Beat Tennessee easily like they should and they'll be #1.
-Miami drops despite not playing because of FSU's struggles. Ole Miss similarly with Memphis being blown out.
-Clemson entering, Notre Dame staying despite losses. Both teams were on the road at Top 25 teams and arguably outplayed their opponents.
-It's an absolute joke that anyone has Houston below Oklahoma St. or especially Georgia. Name recognition and prime-time national coverage aside, that was as impressive a win as BYU over Oklahoma. They'll be hosting Texas Tech late night (9:15est) on 9/26 on ESPN2 in what's sure to be another offensive shootout.

I've said it for years, and I'm pretty sure Jim uses a computer formula so use whatever small sample size caveats you want, but I just can't fathom what about a 12-10 win over UConn screams let's put UNC at #6 ahead of Florida.

I'm not sure using the coaches (or their sons, or whatever intern in the Sports Information office was around this week) who clearly don't watch other teams play on Saturday is a great defense to hide behind. Although if Kevin Sumlin had them lower I will retract all complaints.

This isn't some daisy chain where A beats B, B beats C and C beats A like the Big 12 South last season, or where we're judging teams at the end of the season that have clearly improved since week 1. Oklahoma State beat Georgia at home 24-14 last weekend, then Houston won at Oklahoma State 45-35 this weekend. You can argue that 9 is way too high (and it probably is with that defense) but the offense is no fluke considering it returned 8 starters from the unit that averaged 563 yards and 41ppg last year.

So an highly partial participants judgement is superior to the combined assessment of all impartial participants. Ho-kay, if you say so.

Frankly, you're the guy out there on an island but since I've got very damned little interest in trying to defend my own two cents worth in a poll setup where cartman's initial groundrules clearly stated Please keep the thread with voting submissions free of any comments about someone's vote. , I'll just chalk this up to being my mistake and leave it to the combined brilliance of your wisdom -- which looks like an absolute joke put together by a four year old who has spent more time watching Barney than football -- and Jim's magnificently accurate early season computer poll.

The Sumlin thing was a joke... As for the rest, I wasn't around for the preseason thread and didn't see any ground rules. I'll refrain from commenting on people's polls from now on.
