There will be no more comissioner arbitration awards as the new patch fixes that issue.

If you do not believe the issue is resolved, please let me know and I'll look into it.

FOOLX News: Free Agents File
Sunday, November 12th, 1978: Free agency is upon us.

Teams, players and pundits who follow FOOL-X will be thrust headlong into a whirlpool of intrigue and uncertainty. The free agent signing period will continue throughout the off-season as some clubs will go a long way toward sealing up a championship -- or a spot in the cellar.

The magic, the unpredictability of hot stove baseball, is fascinating to the fan; particularly the fan whose team comes out on top!

This year's list of free agents is highlighted by these players:

1. Armondo Alicata, 39 year-old center fielder
2. Rafael Gabriel, 33 year-old starting pitcher
3. Gerardo Delpozo, 31 year-old left fielder
4. Bob Bray, 33 year-old center fielder
5. Joseph Forbes, 34 year-old right fielder
6. Octávio Ruíz, 32 year-old third baseman
7. Manuel Enríquez, 29 year-old starting pitcher
8. Ken Andersen, 28 year-old starting pitcher
9. On Jung, 31 year-old right fielder
10. Vern Barber, 34 year-old shortstop

That is what they previously were set to, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean!

Imagine that. I must have been thinking about Tokyo as I altered their stadium dimensions with the move out of Montreal. Didn't even think to look and see what they were set at for the Aztecs, just had it in my head that they were closer to 1.0 across the board.

Once 15 seasons has passed I'll adjust Tokyo back down to Petco modifiers.

Looks like Tom O'Reilly is going to be playing in his 19th season as a MLB pitcher... I really didn't want to re-sign him but how do I not?!

Well, OOTPX has now made me pull my hair out. Remember the OOTP9 bug that wouldn't keep your marks on players in the draft list? Well, now I see a bug that is the inverse. Take a guy off your draft list, and he doesn't loose his green marking. GAH!

Seriously? I haven't seen that one yet. Does it happen often, or you just noticed it once?

Well, it may be a false alarm. I just reloaded, and now its working fine. That last load was off a crash I had while setting up my draft list (yay...), so maybe something went wonky.

The new file is up!

The 1979 season runs tomorrow.

Reminder, now with the new patch, previous free agents that were Type A or Type B no longer demand compensation after the draft has completed. So everyone is able to sign any current free agent without compensation.

A second reminder, please review the rules regarding opening day free agent signings if you want them on your major league roster for the season. You have to leave space for them on the 25 man roster and risk playing the season with a short roster. if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

Two questions that I want to bring up for people in the league.

1) Hall of Fame time - In FOOL leagues we generally start up the Hall of Fame roughly 20 years in. For FOOL, we had various approaches for a while (HoF committee, HoF voting, etc), but in the end interest never remained there enough to have anything consistant so I just do it myself now. I can do the same here for FOOL-X, but figured I would toss it out for the league to see if anyone here would be interested in running with it (either a person or group of people). When we started up FOOL-X, the idea was that I would run the sims but I was asking for others in the league to step up in creating articles/etc. That hasn't really happened, so I'm guessing there might not be much interest in others running the HoF, but I figured I would ask just in case!

2) Expansion - We've only had one team change hands in the existance of FOOL-X (That team just changed hands twice is all). My waiting list is at least 6 or 8 people currently for FOOL-X. What are people's thoughts on expansion? I'd most likely look to expand by 4 teams if the rest of the league was ok with it. Things to discuss would be: Do we want to expand? Should things stay in the historical FOOL approach of 2 leagues with 8 teams in each? Should we go to a divisional approach instead of 4 divisions of 4 teams each, no wildcards any longer and division leaders make playoffs? What are your thoughts on this subject? Nothing binding here, this is for discussion only. Before we would do it, there would be an official poll either way.

I am willing to participate in any activities around the HoF. When I ran a league, I thought the owners needed to be more involved with things like this and they never did, so I know what that's like. I'll help anyway I can here.

I'm in favor of expansion. I kind of like that we've had a small amount of turnover. My only problem with expansion is that turnover could increase with more teams. As for divisions, etc, I like the idea of 2 divisions, but I'd be fine with whatever happened. If we went the division route, I would like us to use an unbalanced schedule as well, but not dead set on that either.

I don't pay enough attention to players on other teams to be able to honestly contribute to a HoF.

I would love to expand to 16. I don't care if it's 4 divisions of 4, or 2 divisions of 8 with the wildcard kept. The big thing with division play is we start having to play games outside the division, not sure what sort of schedule you want with that.

I wish I was better at writing things to help in that area. I literally feel that I am to dumb to help in that area. Maybe I am to hard on myself here though. I like how you do the FOOL HOF but i also understand if that's to much for you. I'd be willing to serve on a committee to help as a collective group. I am all for expansion. Myself I like the 4 divisions in the 2 leagues with the division winners going to the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the FOOL-X HOF would be too much for me. I'm just seeing if others are interested in being involved with it before I just run with the assumption I'll just do it

Please please no one offer to do HoF stuff out of obligation or feeling you should contribute. I seriously am happy if everyone is content being active with their teams. I don't need more involvement than that unless people are interested in it. So don't take my post the wrong way at all

I'm all for expansion. I'd also be in favor of the 4x4 split, but its not a deal breaker for me or anything.

I'm happy with things the way they are...but would certainly not oppose expansion.
The only issue I see is if we split to 4 division with no wildcard. What if we have a team go on a rampage for 15 seasons ala muns's Harpooner dynasty? That is a long time for no other teams to make the playoffs in that division. The wildcard guarentee's that at least the best two teams in the entire league make the playoffs.
A wild card in a 4 division league means half of he teams make the playoffs...which is too much.
So if we do expand, I'd want to keep things just two divisions with a wildcard.

I favor expansion. I prefer 4x4, but Eric makes a good point about 2nd best team being left out of the playoffs at times, although I don't think it would happen that much.

As for participation, I considered doing a VI type thing for FOOLX but hadn't gotten around to it. Now that the league has some solid history it might be a good time to kick it off.
