Who Spoke at your College Graduation?
Inspired by a post by Sabotai in another thread.
Mine was Ted Koppell. He spoke on civility, respect and courtesy (which unfortunately wasn't even followed by some in attendance). Very nice speech.

Donna Shalala. She is used as some sort of Democratic campaign platform (1995).

I have yet to graduate college, but my fiancee's graduation was attended by Bill Cosby. The man is ancient and so full of really amazing and useful thoughts you can't even imagine. I loved his hour and 15 minute long speech.

Ted Turner, we STILL can't figure out what he talked about.
We had several other (better) speakers, though, but he was keynote. |

I was there at my graduation, I KNOW it. I've even got video to prove it. However, I have absolutely no CLUE who spoke.
Now for High School, that was Bill Curry. He had just announced he was leaving Georgia Tech to take the Head coaching job at Alabama, if I remember correctly.

Pretty cool speaker...though I guess you couldn't have been too happy with him at the time, huh?

I'm also in the boat of not remembering who spoke at my college graduation. However, I remember it was Dr. Haynes who was a fairly prominent national physician who spoke at my medical school graduation. I can't believe that I can't remember who was my college speaker. I remember it was supposed to be Steven Spielberg and he backed out for some other committment, but I don't remember who the replacement was. This is bugging me, I may need to try to find the convocation program or my video from college.

Well, he's on WJR, heritage station, and he's pretty well known. Probably the best-known guy there since J.P. McCarthy died a couple years ago. |
