I'm With Stupid #170 - Results
I’m With Stupid # 170
Thanks to SteveBollea for helping with the administration. Not much fanfare here… just the facts, ma’am. And this might turn out to be subtitled “The IWS when the specific words or numbers used in the question itself influenced the answers too much” as you will note through the results summary below: How many inches of snow is required for you to consider it to be "a lot of snow?" 17 - 6 inches 8 – 12 inches 5 – 10 inches 2 – 3 inches Also ran: 4,7,8,20 At what temperature (F), is it officially "cold as hell" in your own mind? 17 – 0 degrees 6 – 32 degrees 6 – 20 degrees 4 – 10 degrees Also ran: 12,15,30,-20 You are driving your ordinary car down a road, a day after a snowstorm -- where you got as many inches of snow as you answered above. The road has been plowed and is definitely passable, but there's still a bit of snow and ice on the roadway. The speed limit here is ordinarily 35 MPH, and right now there's no traffic around you in either direction. How fast are you driving? 15 – 35 MPH 9 – 30 MPH 3 – 40 MPH 3 – 25 MPH 2 – 10 MPH 2 – 20 MPH Also ran: 15,45,60(!) Picture a school bus, half full of kids, on its way to school. Six rows back there's a boy, sitting alone, apparently unpopular. He's a third grader, holding his books, he's got slightly messy brown hair, has a bit of a runny nose, and he's wearing a winter knit hat. Now that you have your mental picture, what color is the hat? 13 – red 10 – brown 7 – blue 7 – black This probably goes (and pardon the mixed FOFC metaphors) onto my own Mount Rushmore of IWS questions. For such a wide open question, that’s a very precise little grouping of answers, don’t you think? And brown wouldn’t have even been a serious player had it not been in the question, I pretty firmly believe. Oh, and I was dead certain red was correct, without being able to say why… I love that feeling. At what price point is a PC game cheap? 16 - $10 8 - $20 5 - $19.99 3 - $9.99 2 - $5.99 Also ran: $5, $30, $29.99 Sadly, it doesn’t appear that the penny-pricing differential made the difference in the champion here. I also wonder why it is that a greater share of the “twenty bucks” crowd went for the ninety-nine version than did the “ten bucks” crowd. **shrug** How many Christmas presents is average for a ten year old? 20 – 10 6 – 5 3 – 12 2 – 8 2 – 5 Also ran: 3,6,11,20 We’ll never know what the correct answer would have been for a child of generic age, alas. Probably still ten. Okay, the standings: THREE INCHES LoneStarGirl 252 Bisbo 360 dervack 3,120 Dodgerchick 3,570 nilodor 3,780 Airhog 22,542 spleen1015 28,288 Pyser 40,320 panerd 42,432 EagleFan 48,384 Klinglerware 48,552 MikeVic 50,400 MIJB#19 84,000 EaglesFan27 119,340 MizzouRah 153,600 dacman 168,480 Raiders Army 183,600 lighthousekeeper 192,000 mauboy1 212,160 Bad-example 215,040 flere-imsaho 244,800 wheels 255,000 nZane 265,200 tarcone 390,150 MrDNA 685,440 SIX INCHES Ramzavail 1,370,880 Abe Sargent 2,304,000 packerFanatic 2,545,920 boberot 2,601,000 PurdueBrad 3,381,300 Kwhit 3,427,200 clemsonfan 4,855,200 cmp 5,091,840 RPI-Fan 5,410,080 Mustang 9,710,400 TEN INCHES Butter_of_69 13,872,000 TWELVE INCHES hoopsguy 18,033,600 SWISH! Damn it, I would have owned if I had entered. Had all of them perfect except I had 12 inches of snow.

Yikes, I'm clearly out of touch with this game. I thought stupid loved whole round numbers.

Stupid does. zero not withstanding. I had a response typed up, but never sent. I wanted my wife to recommend an answer for the number of presents. I wasn't happy with 10. DAMNIT! Admittedly the snow and temp questions burned me. Those of us in CA should have received a bonus multiplier of 10 or so to make up for the fact that we're doing fun stuff at the beach while you all freeze your asses off. Yeah, but those of us [for example] in the northeast were probably trying to compensate for folks like you by answering 6 inches. I don't REALLY consider that a lot of snow, even though that was my answer. So I guess it works both ways. My answer of "brown hat" was my undoing. Felt good about this one . . .. |

Somehow I didn't even struggle with that one. It seemed like a IWS defacto rule that color questions impartial to the responder are answered with 'RED'. It is sort of like the Pop tart rule. If the question is about Pop Tarts...the answer is Strawberry. |

Didn't I get all the questions right except the price of a game? I thought 29.99 was cheap!! All of my games I buy are 49.99 or 59.99. Man I suck. This game is sexist!

You don't suck. You just make too much money, or don't buy near enough games that you don't buy them only when they're on sale. |
