February '10 Inter-Office Mail (FOOL, -X, -H)
I was thinking the other day, that with three leagues going and everyone generally doing their own thing in each, it might be worthwhile to have a thread for all THREE leagues to communicate about...well...whatever they want, really.
I figured it was worth trying to initiate a monthly thread where folks could bump it to talk about anything that wasn't specific to their particular league or that was, but worth sharing to the larger audience. Think of it as FOOL-related "general discussion." Like, for instance, the career Triple Crown. You know, titles in all three leagues (FOOL, FOOL-H, FOOL-X) over a career. Doing it all in one season would be a modern miracle, but...at least one person has done it (Greg) for a career already, is there anyone else we're missing? How's your team(s) doing? Anything interesting worth sharing? I'm done now. |

The Pirates in Fool-H were a pushover team until the 1920's. Since 1920 the Pirates have made it the postseason every year(6 straight years), made it do the Championship for 5 straight years and have won 3 titles.

Eric (Ekcut), bz , cgould and Kevin (montreal_GM) also won titles in all three leagues. I can't think of any others off the top of my head. I don't think anyone has won it in all three in the season season.

Actually, despite having the 2nd best all-time winning percentage and making the postseason 11 of the last 16 seasons I've yet to win a Championship in FOOLX.

Oh cool. Lots of triple crown winners for the career. I guess getting someone to conspire to do it in a single season is the next big thing. That'd be cool and a lot of luck. But cool.

My fans across all 3 leagues have no conception of the salary cap (or how hard it is to time travel between the 20's, 90s and future 50s)

The 1920's have come and gone in the FOOL-H world. I just wanted to share with all the FOOL owners out there what an awesome decade the Pirates had. Starting in 1920, the Piates went on a roll and made it too the postseason every year except in 1928. Since 1921 the Pirates were the NL champs every year(except 1928) The team won 4 titles. Needless to say it was a great decade for the Pirates.
Keep up the good work Alan and DC, and thanks to all the owners that make FOOL such a fun thing to pass the time.

Hi Dark Cloud, good to see you. Well the Edmonton Edge pulled up camp and moved east to Halifax and are now the Halifax Winter Wolves at Howler Meadow. We just had our best season ever under my watch and missed the playoffs by only one game.
I still have a shortage of cash. Hopefully moving to X will help me over that plataeu that has eluded me. |
