Meet a DT: Seattle Edition - aka "Lathum I'm coming to your town"

Flying in October 13th...not sure when I'm flying out, but probably the next night. I'm guessing I'll be pretty constricted by work, but I may try to fly in a bunch earlier then the person I'm meeting up with to see at least a lil of the city.

Anybody? Anybody? I know we've got a contingent.

It's an hour and a half south of me, but I might be able to come down that day.

Haha. Well I'm not coming to PA...yet. When I do though it probably won't be that close to you - it'd either be Philly (likely) or Pittsburgh.

I can't imagine there's a Pats fan worth driving 45 minutes to meet.

I'm less than an hour from Pittsburgh, and I drive to Pittsburgh 5 days a week for work. Pittsburgh is close. Just don't bring a defensive tackle with you, because I fucking hate defensive tackles.

Not yet. It'll definitely be on the 14th. Unfortunately I'm probably flying in late on the 13th (after a meeting in Chicago) and then out on the 14th.

I may have a little time though - I should know more in the next couple days and will let you know.

Okay, so I'm going to fly out of here (Boston) on the morning of the 13th and I'll be in town on the 13th.

I'll need to have dinner with the client, but other than that I'm free all day once I get into town.

As an ex-SBUX worker I may want to go down to Pike's and check out the original shop, but that's about all I can think of.

I can take you there, ok, so I am a little confused.

You get here on the 13th and have a dinner that night, so you are free on the 13th from the time you fly in until dinner? Is that correct?

Just an FYI, if you want to not sound like a tourist, it's the "Pike Place Market". It's named after a street, not a person, so there's no need to add an "s" to Pike.

Pet peeve out of the way, definitely hit up the Market - it's one of the really interesting things about the city, thought it's a little late in the year for some of the best of the fresh fruits and berries that can be found there over the summer. A ton of great places to eat in and around the market too, and it's not a long walk to drop down to the waterfront to hit up the various piers and attractions, and to walk south to Pioneer Square, another cool spot, or northeast up into the Belltown area, or straight east into the main downtown shopping district. Distance-wise, Seattle has a very walkable downtown, though there are some killer hills.

I used to work down at the Market and can point you to some different places to check out in terms of food if you give me an idea of what kinds of cuisine you're into.

No need for a 's. Gotcha. Silly me.

Mmm...food. What kind of cuisine am I into=dieting right now (so as not to look like, as someone here put it "the bastard lovechild of john kruk and matt stairs"). So seafood is probably going to be the way to go. Which at least Seattle is good for . So any good seafood recommendations would be killer.

And hey - if you want to meet up after work, lemme know!

Slight change of timing - I'm free from whenever I get to town (hopefully just before noon? - to be confirmed), until like 10:00PM when the client arrives. Just need to have a drink with him so I can actually ya know...meet him once before our meetings.

I'll see what I can do - I've got a 3.5 month old, so getting out of the house isn't something I've been able to do much lately - got to give the wife a break since she has him all day while I'm at work.

Seafood - hard to go wrong there. For casual dining (like lunch) there's a place called Market Grill right in the main market level directly across from Pure Food Fish, one of the three fish sellers there (not the famous fish throwers, but they have better fish IMO). They do really good fish sandwiches as well as chowders:

http://www.pikeplacemarket.org/explo...market_map#262

For a better sit-down experience, there's a ton of places:

Etta's Seafood, part of the Tom Douglas restaurant empire and just north of the end of the Market:
http://tomdouglas.com/index.php?page=ettas

The Crab Pot, a local institution renowned for their buckets of shellfish and seafood and located on the waterfront at Pier 57:
http://www.thecrabpotseattle.com/

Anthony's, an excellent local seafood restaurant chain; they have a location at Pier 66 on the waterfront, a little bit north of the Market (and they also have a really good Fish Bar at the street level serving excellent fish 'n chips and fish tacos):
http://www.anthonys.com/restaurants/info/pier66.html

If you want fast and greasy, Ivar's is a local fish 'n chips institution. To be honest though, there are better fish 'n chip spots elsewhere in the city, and if you're trying to eat healthy, deep fried cod is probably not the best plan.

Haha - awesome!! Thanks for the suggestions dawg.

And if you do manage to get out that'd be sweet. If not, no worries though - I understand.
