After 100yrs of one hit wonders, and teams built with FA signings and borderline draft picks, I figure we'll have 4 players from the last run worthy of Jersey retirement!

I was so disapointed with the jersey retirement discusion we had a month or so ago, and I looked through team history and could find NO ONE I deamed spent enought quality time as a Bishop to determine the honor. I'm all giddy now!

Nah, I just am not a huge fan of the wild card, and have always hypothesized in a wild card setup, if you have a very even division (parity) other than one overly dominant team, that some day we will have someone in the playoffs with a losing record.

I just enjoy watching every season for that one time it occurs to actually come true!

So it's situational, not personal. I gotcha!

What about Jose Salas or Bailey Marks? Two of the all time greats that I associate with your franchise.

Quick 5 minute break away from my desk and then we will sim the final weekend of the season (and I will cross my fingers that we don't end up in some 4-way tie or something rediculous)

I thought about Salas, but to be honest he was a big disapointment for me.
He had great ratings, but he never really put up the numbers to match the ratings.

The great part of Hunt, not only has he topped 700 HR but he is also the all-time leader in doubles.

Triple Crown Award to Stafford Ace
Monday, October 1st, 2063: If Kurt Rich doesn't win the Mauro Morales Award this year, someone's going to call for a recount! Kurt wrapped up one of the rarest feats in baseball -- the pitching triple crown! He topped all pitchers in the Continental League in wins, strikeouts and ERA.

In 33 starts, Rich lead the league with 20 wins, 225 strikeouts and a 1.71 ERA. His won-loss record was 20-5 for the year.

Kurt Rich had one of the best seasons in league history. he set the following single season records this year:

ERA: 1.71 (previous record of 1.82 was set by Yann Bujold in 1973)
WHIP: 0.84 (Previous record of 0.87 set by Yann Bujold in 1973)
Opponent OBP: .226 (previous record of .234 set by Greg Johnston in 1998)
Opponent OPS: .488 (previous record of .515 set by Yann Bujold in 1973)

I bet St. Louis looks forward to facing Rich in the playoffs.

Allen Hunt update:

2063: .283, 34 HR 107 RBI, 35 doubles

he did not set any new career records this season, but extended the following leads:

Total Bases 7005 (2nd place Eddie Cunningham with 6276)
Doubles 883 (2nd place Salvador Garcia with 797)
RBI: 2557 (2nd place Hector Palmeiro with 2327)

He is also close to the record in other categories in case he returns next year at the age of 44 for one more season!

Hits: 2nd place with 3808 (leader: Eddie Cunningham with 3946)
Home Runs: 2nd place with 708 (leader: Hector Palmeiro with 751)

Jose Salas...
He hit 339hrs, which is a respectable number for sure, but his average was only .277.
I do see he was an allstar 13 out of his 14 yrs....but I just don't see him being an alltime great.

As for Marks, His career is great and if was all with London/Chicago, he'd be a no-brainer. His London numbers are very good....but still not on the level with Hunt.
Pehaps if I was GM during Mark's tenure, I'd have enough sentimental love for him to include him, but from a numbers standpoint I am just "Meh"

Damn...while I was looking up stats my team messed the bed!

Congrats to the playoff teams and to Kurt Rich. I remember Bujold foundly...he was my first big trade aquisition in FOOL-x way back in the early years. It's sad to see those records fall, but I tip my cap to an amazing season.

Wow - this was a pretty fun season to watch play out...

Have no clue how my Naps made the playoffs after a 18 and 37 start - but we'll take it!

Grats to the fellow playoff teams - good luck tomorrow!

Regarding Salas, don't just look at his batting average... He had a career OBP of almost .400, and led the league in Walks many times. He was a leading plate setter for many great London teams.

Also consider Salas was one of the 5 best Shortstops in league history. His OPS+ of 142 blows away any other Shortstop in league history. (next highest is Juan Ortiz with 124.

As for Bailey Marks, he was a great player. You missed out on not seeing him play. If he didn't play in the same league at the same time as Luis Huerta in his prime, Marks easily would have had several more Hitter of the year awards.

I know people are going to ask how a 20-5 pitcher is considered unlucky.. but I guess the point is he should have even won more!

Elvis Reese stole 103 bases - the 3rd highest total in FOOL-X history! Also led the league in OBP

346 SB in his first 4 seasons. No one has more SB through the age of 24.

Can we be witnessing the new King of Steal?
