The Ladder 2014 - New Layout for The Ladder?
After setting up everything, it's telling me the online servers are not available right now. Unbelievable.

At least we now have time to discuss how we want to handle BCS bowl affiliations. Thoughts?

I see two choices: - Just jump straight in to a 4 or 8 team playoff to match what's coming. - Do the intermediate method of aligning conference champs with BCS bowls. Can we do the +1 if we do this?

I'm good with either of those choices.

I don't think we can do the playoff option in the game. All we have is bowls.
My plan was to have Big 10 vs. Sec in a bowl (Fiesta), and then assign the other bowls based on tiers (Big East vs. Big 12, PAC 12 vs. ACC, MWC vs C-USA). Does that sound decent? How many Bowls should I leave at large? The Ladder planning thread - Front Office Football Central You can see our basic league tier setup in post 14 of this thread. |

Honestly, a lot of the league setup was engineered around the fact that NCAA 2012 didn't have dynamic conferences. If I was starting from scratch in NCAA 2013, I would probably do a bit of a different league setup.

I think tiers assigned to bowls are a great option, but how would you do the league setup differently now with 2013?

This sounds pretty good to me. I just wish that the winner of the B1G/SEC matchup was the national champ, too. It would provide the necessary incentive to get to the top conferences. |

I would divide into two towers with the Big Ten and Sec on top. Northern schools in Big Ten tower, southern in Sec. The way we have promotion / relegation set up now is convoluted because of static conference prestige. I think I have it fleshed out in a spreadsheet somewhere. |

Is that possible to set up now, or too late? I don't mind switching around affiliations if it makes things cooler / easier going forward.

I'm not sure if it is doable without reshuffling things. I could give it a crack while maintaining all human teams advancement levels.

By the way, I won't change the setup unless everyone is on board with it.

This is the one that I liked the best. It divided teams up into four regions, with three levels in each group. It could be adjusted to reflect our current spots on the ladders. Kinda... I would even out the numbers by replacing one of the SEC teams with a teambuildered team to go in the PAC grouping (San Luis Obispo Burn replaces UAB).
As an example, the top 12 in the Big Ten pod would be in the Big Ten, next twelve in Big East, bottom 7 in MAC. Similar pattern for other 3 pods (SEC, Big 12, Pac 12). Code:

I have an idea that combines the concept above within the Ladder structure. Will put it together in a spreadsheet, and see what people think of it.

Alright. Here is how I would revise the structure for the Ladder. Each color corresponds to one of the four pods in the post below.
Blue = Western pod Light Yellow = Northeastern pod Red = Southwest pod Bright Yellow = Southeast pod I will do a detailed layout showing where human teams would land in the new setup. Last edited by Kodos : 11-30-2012 at 06:51 AM. |

Here is who would be in each regional "pod". I will adjust human teams to account for our results in the Ladder. This is just to show who is in what pod. CPU teams would go in according to preseason rankings, since CPU teams won't reflect roster improvements their counterparts made in NCAA 2012. This will assure that tougher CPU teams will be found at the top of the Ladder.
NORTHEAST POD = Light Yellow WESTERN POD = Blue SOUTHWEST POD = Red SOUTHEAST POD = Bright Yellow Last edited by Kodos : 11-30-2012 at 06:46 AM. |

I like that this creates conferences with more natural rivalries built in.

I like it. But from the looks of it, are we starting over with the promotion/relegation levels? Rice is at #110, but we finished last season in the Top 25.

Nope, all human teams will go to the same division that they had climbed to. Only CPU teams will be slotted by the rankings above. The lists I showed just don't have that factored in yet.
For human teams, this is where they will be: Rice moves up from MWC to Big 12 Indiana moves up from MAC to MWC Duke moves up from C-USA to ACC USC moves from Big 12 over to PAC (due to their Western pod) Buffalo stays in MAC South Florida stays on same tier, but now is in ACC (due to their Southeast pod) Last edited by Kodos : 11-30-2012 at 03:44 PM. |

Duke promoted to the 2nd tier after last season. C-USA would be a demotion. And everyone knows Duke belongs in the ACC.

The trick this season for me will be to avoid relegation to CUSA.
