Just got tickets to the Mariners vs. Red Sox at Safeco in June for my son and I. He is so ecstatic that he's going to see his favorite team (BoSox) play. Will be our first game in Seattle.

What is he going to wear to the game ?

Been to many, many games at Safeco, it's a fantastic park. Let me know if you want any advice/ suggestions about the area, would be happy to provide some.

Cold weather gear.

Actually, I do have a question. I've been searching hotels for the past hour and not being familiar with the area (only been to Seattle once 30 years ago), I'm not sure what to do. We will have my car so I guess it's a combination of price, location, ease and safety. I wouldn't mind staying away from downtown along the light rail but where could one stay along it? I guess ideally, I would park at a hotel, do the park-n-ride to get into downtown for the day, get to Safeco for the night game and then back to the hotel afterwards. What would you recommend?

Honestly, it kindof makes him more of a sympathetic figure to me on a team full of jerks. By a lot of accounts, he's a jerk and there's always this nonsense. But this just seemed a bit mean to me.

I loved this article. It is probably the most insightful article explaining why Puig acts like he does.

The light rail was just being completed when I moved away, but looking at the website it looks like it goes from the airport and there are some decent hotels out that way.

TBH it is a pretty easy park to get in and out of if you did want to drive but not stay down town. You could stay out in the Issaquah area or there are some nice hotels in Bellevue which is just across the bridge.

Dawgfan may be a better resource for light rail specific info.

Might as well put replay away at this point. Reds challenge a clearly blocked plate call and somehow the original call is upheld. There's no reason to have replay if you're not going to use it overturn clear plays.

It is borderline dangerous. When neither baserunners and catchers have no idea what to do on a play at the plate someone is bound to get hurt.

Or managers or umpires. And I'm not sure about MLB in NY.

The pitcher's duel lived up to the billing. Yu gave up 2 runs to the Mariners over 7 innings with 8Ks, while King Felix gave up 1 over 7 with 9Ks. The Rangers get a walk-off in the bottom of the 9th after a 2 out rally gets them 2 runs for the 3-2 win.

Tim Wakefield made it look easy.

Red Sox snake out a win last night, mostly due to the 13 walks white sox pitchers gave up. Ran through their bullpen so quickly they pitched an infielder in a tie game, who walked 2 and gave up the game winning double. I'd also estimate there were 500 fans left by the end of the game between the length and the weather.

If everyone single pitch is 65? Sure, probably one pitch.

Anyone know where to find a list of scouts by organization? My dad and I were at a AA game yesterday and there was this Yankees(presuming) scout right beside us that I'm fairly positive played professionally for the Braves(some dude had him sign a bunch of cards). I also think he was perhaps a former teammate of Jason Giambi. Thus far my google fu is coming up empty. Dude looked a bit like Tim Tebow. I thought it was maybe Scott Proctor but he didn't play for the Braves long enough to get a card.

fwiw, searched for a current list yesterday, didn't really find one.

The only former Brave that jumped out at me from a Wiki list that included many former scouts for the Yankees was Graig Nettles but I imagine he's too old to fit the description you gave.

Aaron Harang is doing some stuff through 7. Not any more as he's going to be relieved, but the bullpen could help him out.

Harang, ERA currently 0.70, picked up after being released from a minor league deal in camp by the Indians.

The Browns, in all of their variations, are very polarizing to the fans - some love them but some absolutely hate them.

I really like the current navy and "sand". But I really liked when the Astros had pretty much the same with navy and gold. I was sad to see those go for the black, brick, and that annoying off white color

Break out the boys in blue! Five in a row and tied for 1st!

They also continue their 4 run rule. They're 9-0 when they score 4 or more. They're 0-7 when they score 3 or less.

Splitting with the Yankees seemed impossible before the series started due to Rays starting pitcher injuries (Moore, Cobb, and Hellickson all on the DL) and the fact that the Rays only scored 16 runs in their last 10 games or so...and a sweep was entering my mind as the Yanks went up 4-0 in game #2.

Baseball is weird though, and here we go with Game #4 of this series with the Rays up 2 games to 1. Bizzarro.

Game #1: NYY 10, TBY 2 (The only rotation guy left from last year and our ace David Price is shelled)

Game #2 starts off 4-0 with the Yankees against AAA call-up pitcher...but the Rays survive to the bullpen and end up winning 11-5

Then, in Game #3 TBY wins 16-1 and the only RBI by the Yankees is from Rays castoff Kelly Johnson.

Last game of the series is this afternoon at 1:40 EST.

What a crazy bizarre finish in the sunday night game.

Could be homer from Pedroia, needs review, confirmed as a double (fan touched the ball right near the line on the monster seats). Then the Orioles Catcher loses sight of the ball even though it's five feet away.. they end up giving Ortiz a semi-intentional walk. Then Napoli gets hit by a pitch (I legit thought he broke his leg, the sound was that massive).. so the bases were loaded.

Then the pinch hitter, Carp hits a liner to short left. Pedroia has to run back to the bag, and may or may not have still been on the bag when the ball was caught.. then he takes a couple steps toward home plate, and the LF throws home as Pedroia heads back to third.. except the throw is very wild and wraps around the backstop, and Pedroia races home with the winning run.. while Showalter attempts to challenge that Pedroia left early (that kind of play is not reviewable)

Bizarre Bizarre Bizarre.
