MVC and FOFC Interactive Coaches Dynasty - Page 7

At his request, I have moved Kuji Chagulia to St. Louis. I have also made a change to this dynasty..

Effective immediately, I have resigned as commissioner of the MVC. The reason for this is simple, I don't have as much time to invest in this as I did, and I want the focus to be on the FOFC coaches. So I won't be following the MVC like I have been, the coach reports for the MVC will be the same as the non-MVC, but I will still have polls every week.

This could change in the future, and if you guys really want me to keep up the same format for the MVC, I could, but as of now I just planned on doing FOFC coaches and nothing else.

This also means that ALL coaches, MVC and non-MVC, are at the mercy of the game. I won't be making any more hiring or firing decisions.

Since I am doing away with being the commissioner of the MVC, all MVC and non-MVC teams will be lumped into one post, there will be no more separation between MVC and non-MVC since I'm only interested in how the FOFC coaches do now. That being said:

2019-2020 FOFC Coach Hot seat Ratings

Score Galore (Bryant) -- The expectations are higher this year, as the board wants a .500 conference record. Mr. Galores hot seat is average.

Cillian O'Reilly (Maine) -- Maine is expected to be in the NCAA Tournament this season. Lofty goals, but at least Cillian's hot seat is cool.

Ekeje Bafou (UMass Lowell) -- Also some lofty goals for Ekeje, as he is expected to lead his team to a .500 conference record, with an average hot seat.

Kuji Chagulia (St. Louis) -- His first year at St. Louis is crucial, as the board expects Kuji to have St. Louis competing for the conference championship, and his hot seat is already average. Yikes!

Roy Rogers (High Point) -- Roy's hot seat is average, and the board wants High Point to have a .500 conference record.

B.B. Gunn (Hawaii) -- B.B. can't quite get Hawaii over the hump, as the board still wants the Warriors competing for the conference title. B.B. has an average hot seat.

Alex Donovan (Bradley) -- As is the case for the majority of the teams, Bradley's board wants them to finish .500 in the MVC. Alex has an average hot seat.

Randolph Childress (Drake) -- Randolph has a nice cool seat this season, as the Drake board feels they can compete for the conference championship.

DeShawn St. John (Evansville) -- DeShawn's rookie year didn't go as well as he would have hoped, and the board is making it tough, expecting the Aces to be in the NCAA tournament this season. His seat is average.

Timmy Tribble (Illinois St.) -- The goal is simple for Illinois St., win the MVC title, whether it be the regular season or the postseason, the Illinois St. board wants a trophy. Timmy's seat is average.

Jawouk Bafou (Loyola Chicago) -- Jawouk has been steady for Loyola, as his seat is cool. Now the board would like him to lead Loyola to a .500 MVC record.

Ernesto Lopez (Northern Iowa) -- The board would like to see the Panthers in the top 2 or 3 when it comes to the end of the MVC season, and Ernesto has an average seat.

Patrick Hutt (BYU) -- Not the best of starts for Patrick at BYU last season, but the board hasn't let up. They still expect BYU to be in the Sweet Sixteen, and Patrick has an average seat.

2019 Season Tournaments

Illinois St. will be the 7th seed in the 2019 Coaches Invitational and will take on Texas A&M first round.

Drake will be the 6th seed in the 2019 Las Vegas Challenge and will open up against Xavier.

Northern Iowa will be the 6th seed in the 2019 Las Vegas Shootout and will start against Stony Brook.

St. Louis is the 5th seed in the 2019 Paradise Shootout and will open up against Gonzaga.

Bradley is the 14th seed in the 2019 Preseason NIT and will open up against Missouri.

Evansville will be the 4th seed in the 4 team 2019 Youth Invitational and will open up against Memphis.

No other FOFC teams were invited to a preseason tournament this year, so only 6 of our 13 FOFC teams get a tournament. Not good.

2019 Season Tournament Wrap-Up

2019 Coaches Invitational

Illinois St. lost to (10) Texas A&M 84-71 in the first round.

2019 Las Vegas Challenge

Drake beat (3) Xavier 98-91 in the first round, then lost in the winners bracket semifinals 88-80 to (2) Washington, then lost the third place game 67-63 to (5) Tulane.

2019 Las Vegas Shootout

Northern Iowa won their first round game 94-86 against (11) Stony Brook, then lost 87-78 to (3) California in the quarterfinals.

2019 Paradise Shootout

St. Louis started out the season well, beating (4) Gonzaga 78-70 in the first round, then beating (1) Texas 66-57 in the winners bracket semifinals, and finished it off with a 64-42 stomping of (2) Tennessee in the championship game! Congrats to Kuji Chagulia who has his new team off to a roaring start!

2019 Preseason NIT

Bradley was hammered 85-34 by (3) Missouri in the first round, making their trip a very painful one.

2019 Youth Invitational

Evansville lost to (1) Memphis 67-62 in the first round of this 4 team tournament, then lost to (2) UCLA 70-56 in the third place game.

As I said in another post, this will be a slow moving dynasty for a while, as I've added another job. I'm not abandoning it, but posts may be limited to 1 a week, if that. Be patient everybody, as I will get back into this hot and heavy, hopefully soon.

For those that are wondering (if anybody is still following since it's been so long) I WILL have at least 2 weeks of the current season simmed and posted on tomorrow, and I'm hoping to do a second post tomorrow as well. The posts shouldn't take long, so I'll keep them weekly. If it gets to be too demanding I may switch it up.

Let me know if people are still following or if they've given up on this!

Here is how our FOFC teams have fared through Dec. 29, 2019:

Bryant (Score Galore) -- 8-5, 1-0 America East. The Bulldogs played some pretty tough teams in the non-conference season, beating Kansas St. and narrowly losing to Boston College and #9 Syracuse, all on the road. They won their conference opener 68-55.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 6-7, 0-1 America East. Maine was able to defeat Boston College in a non-conference game, but lost the America East opener 93-77 to Binghamton.

UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 6-6, 0-1 America East. The River Hawks strongest non-conference wins are at UMass and at Harvard. They lost their conference opener 68-55 to Bryant.

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 11-2, 0-0 Atlantic Ten. After winning the Paradise Shootout, the Billikens have stayed hot, although the rest of their non-conference schedule includes just 2 teams with winning records currently.

High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 4-7, 1-0 Big South. The Panthers opened the season by shocking Clemson, but in their last game they gave up 113 points to Florida St. Ouch!

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 5-4, 0-0 Big West. Hawaii missed a chance for a big RPI builder, losing at Air Force by 3, a team that has only lost twice all season. Just a quick look at the Big West tells me the Warriors have a very legit shot to win it this year.

Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 3-9, 0-2 MVC. Not a great start again for the Braves, who have already lost their first 2 conference games and their average margin of defeat so far this season is over 21 points. Yikes!

Drake (Randolph Childress) -- 6-6, 0-1 MVC. Drake lost by 8 to a Georgetown team that is ranked #3 in the nation currently, and has handed St. Louis 1 of their 2 losses, so the pieces are there in what looks to be another down year for the MVC.

Evansville (Deshawn St. John) -- 3-9, 1-1 MVC. Keep in mind Evansville was a 24 win team just 3 seasons ago, but that has been by far their best mark since I started this dynasty. There just isn't a lot of talent going to the MVC anymore. Mr. St. John has work to do.

Illinois State (Timmy Tribble) -- 5-6, 2-0 MVC. A promising start as the Redbirds have won their first 2 MVC games, and to their credit played a very tough non-conference schedule, even beating a Marquette team that is currently in the top 25.

Loyola Chicago (Jawouk Bafou) -- 6-4, 2-0 MVC. Another team that has won their first 2 conference games, as Loyola continues to be the one MVC team to improve every year, at lest in conference. Let's hope they can keep it up.

Northern Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 5-7, 1-1 MVC. The Panthers have solid wins at Florida St. and Washington St., but still look to get back to the dominant MVC team they used to be, as they've split their first 2 MVC games of the season.

BYU (Patrick Hutt) -- 9-3, 1-0 -- The Cougars have won 5 in a row, including a buzzer beating win over Arizona, who is currently atop the RPI charts in the early season. They also had a 1 point loss to a Utah team they used to have a rivalry with.

Jan. 6-12, 2020

Bryant (Score Galore) -- 9-8, 2-2 America East. The Bulldogs split this week, winning a home game against New Hampshire 68-60 then losing at Albany 66-59.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 7-10, 1-4 America East. The Black Bears continue to struggle right now, losing 2 home games this week, first losing to Albany 86-74, then losing 85-83 in OT to UMass Lowell.

Umass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 8-9, 2-2 America East. The River Hawks lost a tough home non-conference game to St. Joes 83-69 before winning at Maine 85-83.

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 11-3, 0-0 A-Ten. No games this week for the Billikens, who don't play again until the 15th. Wonder how they got so lucky to have 2 weeks off?? Sounds to me like the NCAA needs to investigate.

High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 6-10, 2-2 Big South. The Panthers split 2 home games this week, losing 88-84 to Campbell, then beating Winthrop 74-55.

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 6-6, 1-0 Big West. The Warriors finished off their non-conference schedule with an 83-74 loss to San Diego before beating Cal St. Fullerton 78-71 in their conference opener.

Bryant (Score Galore) -- 10-9, 3-3 America East. The Bulldogs beat Maine 62-50, then got hammered against Stony Brook, 82-51. Both were home games.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 7-12, 1-6 America East. 2 tough road losses for Maine this week, losing 62-60 at Bryant, then losing 71-56 at UMBC.

UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 10-9, 4-2 America East. 2 hard fought home games this week for the River Hawks, who beat Binghamton 84-79 then beat Hartford 79-77.

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 12-4, 1-1 A-Ten. The Billikens split after a long layoff, first losing at Dayton 75-71, then winning at George Washington 68-40.

High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 8-10, 4-2 Big South. 2 solid road wins this week for the Panthers, beating Presbyterian 85-65 then beating Liberty 67-55.

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 8-6, 3-0 Big West. The Warriors stay perfect in the young conference season, first winning at UC Riverside 66-55, then returning home to beat Cal St. Northridge 80-75.

Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 6-11, 3-4 MVC. A very good week for the Braves, winning 2 home games. First beating Wichita St. 59-55, then beating Illinois St. 84-56.

Drake (Randolph Childress) -- 11-7, 5-2 MVC. The Bulldogs had 2 home games this week, beating Southern Illinois 86-85 then beating Indiana St. 70-62.

Bryant (Score Galore) -- 11-10, 4-4 America East. A split this week for the Bulldogs, who lost at Binghamton 79-69 then return home to roll over UMBC 101-64.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 8-13, 2-7 America East. The Black Bears continue to struggle, as they did beat New Hampshire 72-56, then lost to Hartford 89-81.

UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 11-10, 5-3 America East. A split this week for the River Hawks, who lost 73-62 to UMBC, then beat Stony Brook 86-69.

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 14-4, 3-1 A-Ten. Good week for the Billikens, who beat Duquesne 59-54 at home, then travelled to VCU and beat them 79-67.

Bryant (Score Galore) -- 12-11, 5-5 6th America East. Bryant had 2 road games this week, losing 86-80 at Hartford, then winning 69-59 at New Hampshire.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 10-13, 3-7 9th (last) America East. It was a good week for the Black Bears, who won a non-conference game at Lafayette 84-62, then returned to conference play to win at Albany 75-69.

UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 12-10, 6-3 1st America East. Just 1 game this week for the River Hawks, who crushed Albany on the road, 81-54.

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 15-5, 4-2 T-2nd Atlantic Ten. 2 home games this week for the Lou, who beat GW 71-47, then lost to VCU 81-63.

High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 11-11, 6-3 1st in North Division of Big South. The Panthers won at Campbell 84-58, then went to UNC Asheville and lost 85-64.

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 12-6, 7-0 1st Big West. Hawaii is rolling right now, increasing their winning streak to 7 games with a 76-68 win at UC Santa Barbara, then winning 71-48 at home against UC Davis.

Feb. 3-9, 2020

Bryant (Score Galore) -- 13-12, 6-6 T-5th America East. The Bulldogs lost at home 69-61 to UMass Lowell, then went to Maine and won 80-77.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 11-14, 4-8 9th (last) America East. The Black Bears won at Binghamton 82-72 the lost at home to Bryant 80-77.

UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 13-11 7-4 1st America East. The River Hawks won at Bryant 69-61 then went to Binghamton and got hammered 73-49.

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 17-5, 6-2 2nd Atlantic Ten. The Billikens get back on track this week winning 2 close ones, first at Rhode Island 77-71, then at home against Dayton 58-56.

High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 8-3, 13-11 1st in North Division of Big South. 2 solid wins for the Panthers this week, first a 96-87 win at home against Coastal Carolina, then an even better 88-65 win at Winthrop.

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 14-6, 9-0 1st Big West. It's a 9 game winning streak now for the Warriors, with all 9 wins coming in the conference. They hosted UC Irvine and won 75-56, then won 94-73 at Cal St. Fullerton.

Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 4-8, 7-15 8th MVC. Just 1 game this week for the Braves, who lost 77-69 at Northern Iowa.

Drake (Randolph Childress) -- 16-8, 10-3 1st MVC. The Bulldogs won 2 home games this week, beating Wichita St. 74-63, then beating Illinois St. 63-50.

Evansville (DeShawn St. John) -- 10-13, 8-5 T-3rd MVC. A split this week for the Aces, who lost 76-71 against Southern Illinois, then beat Indiana St. 57-51, both at home.

Illnois St. (Timmy Tribble) -- 7-16, 4-9 9th MVC. The slide continues for the Redbirds, as they lost at Missouri St. 70-56 then lost at Drake 63-50.

Loyola Chicago (Jawouk Bafou) -- 10-12, 5-8 7th MVC. The Ramblers beat Indiana St. 68-47 then lost a wild one to Southern Illinois 101-96, both at home.

Northern Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 11-12, 6-6 6th MVC. The Panthers started off the week with a non-conference win, 66-63 at East Tennessee St., then winning a conference home game against Bradley 77-69.

BYU (Patrick Hutt) -- 17-7, 9-4 2nd WCC. Not a good week for the Cougars, who lost both their home games this week. First they lost the big battle against St. Marys 83-69, then they lost to Pacific 83-82.

What a difference a week makes as St. Louis is back in the polls after not receiving a vote last week. And of course while BYU is still receiving a few votes, they drop out after their 0-2 week. I'm still a bit miffed as to why Hawaii, with their 9-0 conference start, isn't receiving a vote. I guess they don't consider the Big West a strong enough conference.

We welcome Drake to the mid-major top 25, we still have 4 FOFC coached teams receiving votes, with Hawaii still on the outside of the top 25, but inching closer. And go figure, the season I resign as MVC commissioner, some of our teams wake up. There are 3 MVC teams receiving votes in the mid-major poll this week, but that's ok, I'm still happy with my decision to resign and focus more on the FOFC coaches. Now the pressure of hiring and firing is out of my hands.

Bryant (Score Galore) -- 13-13, 6-7 T-5th America East. Only 1 game this week for Bryant, a 79-71 loss at home to Binghamton.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 12-15, 5-9 9th (last) America East. The Black Bears split this week, hosting Stony Brook and winning 89-71, then travelling to New Hampshire and losing 89-66.

UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 15-11, 9-4 1st America East. 2 close wins this week for the River Hawks. First they hosted New Hampshire and won 67-64, then they travelled to UMBC and won 69-65.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 13-16, 6-10 4 way tie for 7th (last place) America East. Also 1 game for Maine this week, a 75-59 win at home vs. UMBC. They'll be the 8th seed in the America East tourney.

UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 17-12, 11-5 T-1st America East. The River Hawks missed a chance to win the America East regular season title outright, as they lost their last regular season game at Hartford 68-56. They still draw the top seed in the America East tourney.

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 21-7, 10-4 3rd Atlantic Ten. Kuji picked up win number 100 for his career this week, winning at St. Bonaventure 66-54. They then returned home to LaSalle and won 68-51, for win #101 for Kuji.

High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 16-13, 11-5 T-1st North Division of Big South. The Panthers ended the regular season by smashing Prebyterian at home, 91-57. They'll be the 4th seed in the Big South tournament.

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 20-7, 14-0 1st Big West. Hawaii clinched the Big West regular season title this week, with 2 more wins both at home. First a 72-54 win against Cal Poly, then a very tough 108-103 overtime win against UCSB. Now can they finish off the regular season undefeated in Big West play?

Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 8-20, 5-13 9th MVC. 2 more road losses for the Braves this week, first getting hammered 82-39 at Evansville, then losing 71-58 at Loyola Chicago. They'll be in the play-in round as the 9th seed in the MVC tourney.

Drake (Randolph Childress) -- 19-11, 13-5 T-1st MVC. A bad loss at Lafayette, 76-68 to start the week, then they finish off the regular season with an 88-67 win at Missouri St. They'll be the 2nd seed in the MVC tourney.

Evansville (DeShawn St. John) -- 13-16, 11-7 3rd MVC. 2 home wins to finish off the regular season, an 82-39 pounding of Bradley, then an 88-85 OT win against Northern Iowa. They'll be the 3rd seed in the MVC tourney.

Illinois State (Timmy Tribble) -- 10-18, 7-11 8th MVC. 2 road wins to finish off the regular season, as they won at Indiana St. 58-50 then won at Southern Illinois 78-68. Unfortunately this wasn't enough to keep them out of the play-in round. They'll be the 8th seed playing a day early.

Loyola Chicago (Jawouk Bafou) -- 15-13, 9-9 6th MVC. A home split to finish off the regular season, as the Ramblers lost 95-92 to Northern Iowa, then beat Bradley 71-58.. Congrats to Mr. Bafou as for the first time ever, Loyola Chicago will avoid the play-in round, as the 6th seed. They get to rest an extra day this season!

Northern Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 13-16, 8-10 7th MVC. 2 really tough road games to end the regular season, a 95-92 win at Loyola Chicago and an 88-85 loss at Evansville. If they beat Evansville, then they probably avoid the play-in round, as it stands, they are playing on Thursday night as the 7th seed.

BYU (Patrick Hutt) -- 20-9, 12-6 2nd WCC. Only 1 game this week for the Cougars, an 82-64 win at Pepperdine. They'll get the 2nd seed and a bye in the WCC tournament.

Even in the mid-major poll, I feel that Hawaii is being slighted. It'll be interesting to see what happens in both polls next week and in the weeks to come, especially if they finish the regular season undefeated in Big West play and win the Big West tourney.

March 2-8, 2020

We have 6 conferences represented by FOFC coaches, and 4 of those conferences had their conference tournament this week, so we start there.

America East Tournament

Bryant (Score Galore) lost a heartbreaker in their first game, as (6) Albany beat them 66-64 in OT. They have a 16-14 record and a very slim shot at the postseason. If so, it'll almost certainly be the CIT.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) got hammered in the play-in game, losing to (9) Stony Brook 93-68. They finish the regular season at 13-17, and they will be done.

UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) came in as the top seed but lost in the quarterfinals to (9) Stony Brook 87-79. They have a 17-13 record and since they split their conference regular season title, should be in line for CBI or CIT.

Big South Tournament

High Point (Roy Rogers) lost in the quarterfinals to (5) Winthrop 86-81. With a 16-14 record, they also have a slim shot at the postseason.

MVC Tournament

Bradley (Alex Donovan) beat (8) Illinois St. 73-67 in a play-in game, then lost in the quarterfinals to (1) Wichita St. 63-45. With a 9-21 record, the Braves are done, obviously. The question is, will Donovan keep his job?

Drake (Randolph Childress) beat (7) Northern Iowa 68-45 in the quarterfinals, then got by (3) Evansville 73-72 in the semifinals, then won the MVC title game over (1) Wichita St. 65-57. They'll receive an auto bid to the NCAA tournament, but with a 22-11 record, will probably be looking at a potential First Four match-up.

Evansville (DeShawn St. John) beat (6) Loyola Chicago 67-65 in the quarterfinals, but lost 73-72 to (2) Drake in the semifinals. Despite finishing 3rd in the MVC, their 14-17 record should keep them at home when the brackets are announced.

Illinois State (Timmy Tribble) lost a play-in game to (9) Bradley 73-67 and end their season with a 10-19 record, surely pitting Tribble on the hotseat next year.

Loyola Chicago (Jawouk Bafou) lost in the quarterfinals to (3) Evansville 67-65. They have a 15-15 record on the season, and could sneak into the CBI or CIT, but that 184 RPI surely will keep them at home.

Northern Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) won their play-in game over (10) Indiana State 72-60, then lost in the quarterfinals to (2) Drake 68-45, more than likely ending their season at 14-17.

WCC Tournament

BYU (Patrick Hutt) beat (7) Portland 61-58 in the quarterfinals, then smashed (6) Gonzaga 95-65 in the semifinals. They'll play (5) Pepperdine in the WCC championship game, and that will be covered next week.

Our other 2 teams finished off their conference schedule this week, let's look at them.

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 23-7, 12-4 2nd Atlantic Ten. The Billikens finished off their regular season by beating St. Josephs 80-62, then going to UMass and winning 70-56. They'll be the #2 seed in the A-Ten Tourney.

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 22-7, 16-0 1st Big West. And there you have it, the Warriors finished with an undefeated conference season, the only team in the nation to do so. A couple road games this week, winning at UC Davis 84-71 and winning at UC Irvine 75-66. Obviously, they'll be the #1 seed in the Big West Tourney.

March 9-15, 2020

We've got 2 complete conference tournament and a conference tourney final to look at, so here we go.

Atlantic Ten Tournament

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) beat (10) Duquesne 73-55 in the quarterfinals, then beat (3) St. Josephs 69-61 in the semifinals, but lost 59-49 to (5) UMass in the A-Ten Title Game. Despite that, with a national ranking and 25-8 record, they should have no trouble receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Big West Tournament

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) ran through conference play like it was nothing, and expected to do the same in the conference tourney. Not so fast. In what might be the upset of the year, the Warriors lost in the quarterfinals to (8) UC Irvine 67-59. Given the fact they didn't even have 1 national vote, I have a feeling their bubble will burst and they'll end up in the NIT.

WCC Championship

BYU (Patrick Hutt) won their first 2 games to get here, and finished it off with a 106-95 win over (5) Pepperdine to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Their seed is anybodys guess, but if I had to, I'd say around an 8 or 9.

I'm a little bit surprised that BYU didn't receive some first place votes here, and at the very least jump over St. Louis, since they won their conference tourney and St. Louis didn't. Very interesting.

2020 Selection Sunday

BYU got the #6 seed in the NCAA West Region and will take on the winner of a First Four game between Wyoming and Alabama.

St. Louis got the #7 seed in the NCAA Midwest Region and will take on (10) Missouri in the First, Second Round, whatever you want to call it.

Drake gets the #12 seed in the NCAA South Region and will take on (5) St. Marys in the First Round. More mid-major bias by the selection committee, but given how weak the MVC is right now, I'm not surprised.

Hawaii, as expected, gets bounced to the NIT. They'll be the #5 seed in the NIT East Region and will travel to (4) Oklahoma in the Second Round.

UMass Lowell does get into the CIT and will host (9) Nicholls St. in the First Round.

2 notes: That UC Irvine team that won 7 games during the regular season, but upset Hawaii in the First Round of the Big West Tourney? Well they ended up somehow getting hot and winning the Big West Tourney, earning a First Four berth in the NCAA Tournament. So bbgunn, don't feel too bad, at least the team that knocked you out of a chance for the NCAA tournament won the conference tournament and got the bid that should have been Hawaii's.

Also, nothing has changed in the MVC, as they sent just 3 teams to the postseason. Thankfully I got out of there when I did. The MVC is still running a conference prestige of 3.

(6) BYU beat (11) Wyoming 86-83.

2020 NCAA Third Round

2020 NCAA Sweet Sixteen

(2) UConn beat (6) BYU 89-60.

BYU got hot late in the season and turned that into a Sweet Sixteen appearance. Tough last couple games for Hawaii, who after winning 17 of 18 games, lost their last 2 when it mattered most. Drake got a nice upset win in the first round of the NCAA while St. Louis disappointed. UMass Lowell will hopefully continue to build off their postseason appearance.

2020 Postseason Wrap-Up

The NCAA Final Four was a bit of a bust, as only 1 top seed made it. In the first semifinal, (1W) Tennessee beat (7S) Duke 84-81, while (6E) Georgia beat (6MW) Marquette 77-75. This led to an all-SEC championship game, in which Georgia beat Tennessee 75-69.

The NIT Final Four saw nary a top seed, as the first semifinal saw (4S) Oklahoma beat (7W) Loyola Marymount 75-68. The second semifinal saw (6MW) Notre Dame beat (2E) Illinois 72-66. The NIT championship was a classic, as Notre Dame beat Oklahoma 78-77.

The CBI championship series was even more amazing as (11) Colorado State beat (16) Duquesne 2 games to none. Colorado State won the first game 81-80 and the second game 80-75. Wow!

And finally, the CIT championship, which saw (11) Colgate beat (9) Nicholls State 70-59.

1 other thing of note, as we stick with UC Irvine who shocked Hawaii in the Big West tournament. They won their First Four game over Stony Brook 76-51, then pulled an even bigger upset by bouncing (1) Villanova 69-66 in the second round. Holy cow!

2019-2020 National Awards

Our FOFC teams had 2 national awards. SR Allen Huber from Drake made the All-NCAA First Team, while SR Kenneth Wolfe from BYU made the All-NCAA Second Team.

2019-2020 Conference Awards

Bryant put JR Xander Griffiths on the America East 1st Team.

Maine had SR Roosevelt Moore on the America East 1st Team.

UMass Lowell had the America East Coach of the Year in Ekeje Bafou, and also put SR Joe Kelly and SO Mark Schlueter on the America East 2nd Team.

St. Louis had FR Scottie Jeyes clean up on the awards. He was named Atlantic Ten Freshman of the Year, as well as being on the Atlantic Ten All Freshman Team and the Atlantic Ten 1st Team. JR James Langford was on the Atlantic Ten 2nd Team.

High Point SR Terrance Click was the Big South Player of the Year, as well as being on the Big South 1st Team. High Point also had 2 players on the Big South All-Freshman Team, Joseph Spech and Dennis David.

Hawaii coach B.B. Gunn was the Big West Coach of the Year (no shock there, although I'm sure he would have traded that award for an NCAA bid). Hawaii also had the Big West Freshman of the Year in Geraldo Fernandez, who also made the Big West All-Freshman Team. SR Kurt Shoobert made the Big West First Team, while JRs Norm Shill and Philippe Deffrenne made the Big West 2nd Team.

No awards for Bradley, Evansville, Illinois State, or Northern Iowa.

Drake head coach Randolph Childress was the MVC Coach of the Year. The Bulldogs also had the MVC Player of the year in SR Allen Huber, who made the MVC 1st Team along with JR Mario Hicks and SR Efrain Kistler.

Loyola Chicago put SR Glenn Huey on the MVC 1st Team and SR Lamar Mingo on the MVC 2nd Team.

BYU had the WCC Player of the Year in SR Kenneth Wolfe, who also made the WCC 1st Team. JR Floyd Collins made the WCC 2nd Team.

Drake was a huge disappointment, 304th in the nation, last in the MVC.

Illinois State had the 178th best class in the nation, good for 7th in the MVC.

Loyola Chicago had the 84th best class in the nation, good for 3rd in the MVC.

Northern Iowa had the 103rd best class in the nation, good for 4th in the MVC.

BYU had the 37th best class in the nation, tops in the WCC. They also were 1 of 2 FOFC teams to pick up a 4 star recruit, the other being St. Louis.

There was no conference movement this offseason, and I stop here for the night, because I am about to make an offer to all 6 of the MVC coaches:

When I started this dynasty, I wanted human coaches in the MVC as I was the commissioner of the conference. Now that I am concentrating on FOFC coaches only, it's not fair to have 6 coaches stay in the MVC if you don't want to.

So... for this season, and this season only, I am extending to Alex Donovan, Randolph Childress, DeShawn St. John, Timmy Tribble, Jawouk Bafou, and Ernesto Lopez this offer: If you want to move to another school outside the MVC without being offered the job, I will allow it. Or, if you want to stay at your MVC school and see how things play out, you're more than welcome to. Now, with that being said, I will not allow you to just jump to a school that is much better than the one you are at. It has to be a school that has close to the same RPI as you are currently at.

So, sirfozzie, ntndeacon, bbgunn, Grover, britrock88, and JAG, I will send you all a PM, please PM me back as soon as you can and let me know if you want to keep your MVC coach where he's at, or move him to a different school, if you want to move him, then I will let you know what the options are.

Until that is taken care of, I'll put this on hold, but I won't wait forever. If I haven't heard from you within a few days, I'll just keep you where you're at.

Head Coach Movement- Round 1

britrock88 and JAG wanted to keep their MVC coaches where they were at, so Jawouk Bafou is staying at Loyola Chicago and Ernesto Lopez is staying at Northern Iowa.

ntndeacon elected to move Randolph Childress to Dayton

bbgunn elected to move DeShawn St. John to UTEP.

I never heard back from Grover, so Timmy Tribble will stay at Illinois St.

I also never heard back from sirfozzie, so Alex Donovan will stay at Bradley.

We have 2 new FOFCers in the mix, korme and DavidCorperial.

Korme has made coach Shane Korme, who will go to Wright St.

DavidCorperial has made coach David Ginsberg, who will go to Hartford.

So that takes care of the MVC and new FOFC coaches. Don't worry, I will give a recap of all the human coaches in this dynasty, as soon as head coach movement is completed, but we still have some other FOFC coaches to deal with.

B.B. Gunn has received several job offers, but personally if it were up to me, I wouldn't leave Hawaii for any of them. bbgunn, the offers are Central Arkansas, Charleston Southern, Delaware St., Hampton, North Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee State, Texas Arlington, and VMI. yuck! More offers for B.B. Gunn, who is a wanted man, but again, most of the offers I wouldn't touch. bbgunn, here are the ones that I would look at: Belmont, California, College of Charleston, Dayton, Hofstra, and VCU. Any of those sound appealing, or is Hawaii still your choice? I don't just want to assume and keep you at Hawaii, so I'll always ask when you have new offers.

Also, Patrick Hutt got an offer, he also was offered the California job. So.. Zinto, you have a choice to make too.

So I need to hear from bbgunn and Zinto.

2020-2021 FOFC Coach Hotseat Ratings

Score Galore (Bryant) -- While Mr. Galores seat is now cool, the board still wants him to finish with at least a .500 conference record.

David Ginsberg (Hartford) -- A new FOFC coach, but the board is expecting big things, namely a conference championship.

Cillian O'Reilly (Maine) -- Despite the failings of last season, Cillian's seat is still cool, but the board still wants an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Ekeje Bafou (UMass Lowell) -- Ekeje has a nice, cool seat after last season, with expectations still to finish with a minimum of .500 in conference play.

Randolph Childress (Davidson) -- This is a new job for Randolph, but the board wants him to compete for the conference championship. Still not sure how Davidson ended up in the A-Ten.

Kuji Chagulia (St. Louis) -- A conference championship is what the board wants Kuji to deliver this season, his seat is cool.

Roy Rogers (High Point) -- Lofty goals for Mr. Rogers this season, the board at High Point wants an NCAA Tournament berth. His seat is average.

B.B. Gunn (Hawaii) -- After last season, the board has pretty much iced Kuji's seat. It is nice and cold at the moment. All they ask of Hawaii this season is just to compete for the Big West title.

DeShawn St. John (UTEP) -- DeShawn moved to UTEP for this upcoming season, starting with an average seat, and the board hopes he can get his team to compete for a conference title.

Shane Korme (Wright St.) -- Shane is our second new coach to the FOFC mix this season, but like many of the other FOFC coaches, his board wants him to get his team to compete for the conference championship. His seat is average.

Alex Donovan (Bradley) -- Time is running out for Alex as the head coach at Bradley. His seat is warm and the board is getting impatient. If he doesn't finish with a .500 conference record or better this season, he may be looking for a new job.

Timmy Tribble (Illinois St.) -- Things haven't gone Timmys way yet as the head coach of the Redbirds. The board still has expectations of an MVC title, but his seat is still just average.

Jawouk Bafou (Loyola Chicago) -- Jawouk is really meshing quite nicely at Loyola. His seat is cool and the board still just wants a .500+ conference record.

Ernesto Lopez (Northern Iowa) -- It's an average seat for Ernesto, as is the standard, the board wants UNI to compete for a conference championship.

Patrick Hutt (BYU) -- Patrick is no doubt the most successful of the FOFC coaches so far. His seat at BYU is cool but the board would like a Sweet Sixteen appearance.

2020 Season Tournaments

St. Louis is the 2nd seed in the 2020 Anaheim Invitational and will face (7) Cleveland St. in the opening round.

Wright St. is the 9th seed in the 2020 Coaches Invitational and will face (8) Richmond in the first round.

Hawaii gets disrespect a little by drawing the 15th seed in the 2020 Coaches Invitational. They'll take on (2) Georgetown in the opening round.

Bradley is the 14th seed in the 2020 GDS Classic and will face (3) South Carolina.

Illinois St. is the 4th seed in the 2020 Las Vegas Shootout and will take on (13) East Tennessee State in the first round.

BYU is the 2nd seed in the 4 team 2020 Legends Invitational. They'll take on (3) Creighton in the opening round.

Northern Iowa is the 8th seed in the 8 team 2020 Paradise Shootout and will open up against (1) Oklahoma St.

UTEP is the 5th seed in the 8 team 2020 Rainbow Invitational and will open up against (4) Providence.

Davidson is the 5th seed in the 8 team 2020 San Juan Classic and will open up against (4) Clemson.

Not bad, 9 of our 15 FOFC teams get a tournament this season.

2020 Season Tournament Wrap-Up

2020 Anaheim Invitational

St. Louis won their opening game 72-56 over (7) Cleveland St., then lost in the winners bracket semifinals 92-85 to (3) Michigan, then hammered (1) Arizona in the 3rd place game 88-64.

2020 Coaches Invitational

Wright St. lost their first round game to (8) Richmond 79-61.

Hawaii also lost their first round game to (2) Georgetown, but played really tough, only losing 83-80.

2020 GDS Classic

Bradley played really, really well, but lost their first round game to (3) South Carolina 98-96.

2020 Las Vegas Shootout

Illinois St. beat (13) E. Tennessee St. 81-74 in the first round, then lost to (5) Central Florida in the quarterfinals, 81-71.

2020 Legends Invitational

BYU lost their first round game to (3) Creighton 76-71, then won the third place game over (4) Evansville 71-68.

2020 Paradise Shootout

Northern Iowa shocked (1) Oklahoma St. 99-91 in OT in the first round, then kept it going by beating (5) Florida St. 84-72 in the winners bracket semifinals, and finished it off by beating (3) Alabama 75-71 in the championship game! Congrats to Ernesto Lopez on the Paradise Shootout title!

2020 Rainbow Invitational

UTEP got hammered by (4) Providence 95-56 in the first round, then beat (8) Northern Colorado 92-76 in the consolation semifinals, but lost the 5th place game to (6) Indiana St. 64-62.

2020 San Juan Classic

Davidson lost 84-79 to (4) Clemson in the first round, then beat (8) Harvard 87-72 in the consolation semifinals, but lost the 5th place game to (6) Air Force 64-38.

Overall, not a good tournament performance by our FOFC teams. Great efforts from Bradley and Hawaii in first round losses, and of course Northern Iowa winning their tournament was huge.

Here is how our FOFC teams have fared through Dec. 28, 2020

Bryant (Score Galore) -- 6-7, 1-0 America East. Some good wins for Bryant include Virginia and 24th ranked Oregon. Don't let that 6-7 record fool you, Bryant played a tough non-conference schedule including games against 3 teams that are currently ranked. This is indicated by their RPI which is currently 31.

Hartford (David Ginsberg) -- 8-5, 1-0 America East. Hartford had a signature win over Vanderbilt, but a loss at 4-8 Manhattan hurt. Still, they have a nice RPI at 45 as rookie coach Ginsberg is off to a promising start.

Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 7-6, 0-1 America East. The Black Bears won their first 5, including a season opening win against Green Bay, but have lost 6 of their last 8 since, including their conference opener.

UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 5-7, 0-0 America East. The River Hawks have played just 1 game against an opponent with an RPI of 149 or better, that was a season opening loss to Memphis who is currently ranked 5th in the nation. Losses to Marist and Boston U have really hurt them.

Davidson (Randolph Childress) -- 3-10, 0-0 Atlantic Ten. It has been a struggle for Mr. Childress since being hired on at Davidson a mere few weeks ago. Their 3 wins have come against NC Central, Savannah St. and Harvard. Not exactly earth shattering wins.

St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 7-5, 0-0 Atlantic Ten. The Billikens don't really have a bad loss on their schedule, although losing at a 158 Missouri St. team could be considered fairly bad. Right now their RPI is 18 and they still have a few games to go before conference play.

High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 2-10, 0-0 Big South. Eeks! Things are even worse for Roy over at High Point. The injuries have really hurt the Panthers, as 5 players have been injured since the start of the season, including sophomore David Lord who is out for the season with a torn PCL. The really bad loss was a 22 point loss to a 1 win Robert Morris team, at home. Aside from that loss, they've been within single digits of all but 1 of their other opponents. It'll be interesting to see how they fare now that they have everybody but Lord back and healthy.

Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 5-5, 0-0 Big West. I still see greatness in this Hawaii team. Aside from a loss at a 2 win Manhattan team, they've fared well, including that 3 point loss to Georgetown, and a 17 point win at home against UCLA. They have a huge test against undefeated and 16th ranked UMass before they start Big West play.

UTEP (DeShawn St. John) -- 4-7, 0-0 C-USA. There isn't really a wow moment on the schedule for UTEP. Some inexplicable losses for the Miners, including a 20 point loss at a 2 win Portland St. team to begin the season, and a loss at Grand Canyon. There was also the 39 point loss to Providence. It's a bad thing when 2 of your 4 wins have come against teams that haven't won a game yet.

Wright St. (Shane Korme) -- 4-7, 0-0 Horizon. Our other rookie coach to the league, he's had a tough go of it as well. They did have a nice home win against Virginia Tech, but a 17 point loss at a Ball St. team that has a sub 300 RPI leaves a lot to be desired.

Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 2-9, 0-1 MVC. Don't sleep on that 2-9 record. Out of the 11 games Bradley has played, 8 of them have been against teams that currently have 9 wins or more. They've handed 7th ranked Kentucky their only loss of the season, as well as beating #17 Marquette. So their 2 wins are solid, as are some of their losses. But their last 3 games (a 38 point loss at #21 Purdue, a 1 point home loss to SIU Edwardsville, and a 9 point loss at Southern Illinois to open MVC play) makes this team tough to figure out.

Illinois St. (Timmy Tribble) -- 6-6, 1-1 MVC. The Redbirds have a nice win at Wisconsin, but a 19 point loss at Tennessee St. (263 RPI) and an 8 point lose at home to Illinois Chicago (276 RPI) pretty much negate that Wisconsin win.

Loyola Chicago (Jawouk Bafou) -- 6-5, 1-1 MVC. The Ramblers season took a blow right off the bad when 2 of their starters were academically suspended for the semester. They won their first 4 games and 199 is the best RPI of their first 4 opponents. Hard to say that they really have any key wins or really bad losses on their schedule so far.

Northern Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 6-7, 2-0 MVC. The Panthers slipped a little bit after opening the season by winning the Paradise Shootout. They lost 7 of their last 8, including a loss at Arkansas Little Rock (298 RPI), a 36 point loss to #6 Texas, and a 29 point loss at St. Louis. They've started on the right foot in MVC play by winning their first 2 however.

BYU (Patrick Hutt) -- 7-5, 1-0 WCC. A 10 point loss to UC Davis is by far the worst loss for BYU so far, although the 27 point loss at UCLA ranks right up there. They've given up over 100 points twice so far, to UCLA and Washington. Their 81.2 points allowed per game must get better as the season goes on.

I'm just going to tell you right now, the mid-major top 25 polls are going to be really, really weird, since I have the conference prestige changes option set to yes with no way to change it. I also have the maximum conference prestige for the mid-major poll set to 4. Since the Big 12 is a prestige 4 now, they are in the mid-major poll. The WCC is a prestige 5, which is the reason BYU didn't get any votes. I could always change the max conference prestige to a 3 for the mid-major poll. That would eliminate the Big 12, but would also eliminate the Horizon, Mountain West, and Patriot Conferences. What do you guys think? Leave it at 4 and keep the Big 12 schools in the mid-major poll (and we know the Big 12 is not a mid-major conference), or change the max to 3 and eliminate 3 true mid-major conferences from the mid-major poll? I'd love to hear some opinions on this.

Guys, I have some absolutely horrible news. Tonight I opened up my FBCB game only to find out that the data files were no longer there. I have no idea what happened, but the save files are gone. I've had to uninstall FBCB and reinstall it, so this dynasty is wiped. To say I'm extremely pissed right now is an understatement. I've had about the worst luck with computers that anybody could have and I'm beginning to hate them with a passion.

Nevertheless, I'm going to give this dynasty a fresh start. I'm going to keep everything the same, keep everybody where they were at, which means that some coaches will be happy for a new start, others not so much. If anybody wants out of this dynasty because of this, let me know and I'll take you out, but I do plan on getting it restarted within the next couple days.

Again, everybody will resume coaching at the school they were at when this dynasty was corrupted. I'm too bummed to even think about doing anything with it right now, but hopefully in a day or 2 I'll have it going again. Out of all the dynasties I've done, this one was most enjoyable for me, so I hope you all aren't too upset and still want to participate. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Thanks bbgunn, believe me, I wish that anybody that contributed to this virus and malware stuff got what they deserved. I'm tempted to just throw my computer out the window and be done.

I've had to abandon several interactive projects because of computer issues, and I feel like each time I do, I lose followers and I lose participants. I want to start up another one right now, but I'm hesitant to do so because of my horrible luck. Right now I'm torn, I want to, but I'm hate to do so and then have to scrap another one so soon. Aargh!

collegesportsfanms Pro Rookie Join Date: Jan 2004	At his request, I have moved Kuji Chagulia to St. Louis. I have also made a change to this dynasty.. Effective immediately, I have resigned as commissioner of the MVC. The reason for this is simple, I don't have as much time to invest in this as I did, and I want the focus to be on the FOFC coaches. So I won't be following the MVC like I have been, the coach reports for the MVC will be the same as the non-MVC, but I will still have polls every week. This could change in the future, and if you guys really want me to keep up the same format for the MVC, I could, but as of now I just planned on doing FOFC coaches and nothing else. This also means that ALL coaches, MVC and non-MVC, are at the mercy of the game. I won't be making any more hiring or firing decisions.

That being said: 2019-2020 FOFC Coach Hot seat Ratings Score Galore (Bryant) -- The expectations are higher this year, as the board wants a .500 conference record. Mr. Galores hot seat is average. Cillian O'Reilly (Maine) -- Maine is expected to be in the NCAA Tournament this season. Lofty goals, but at least Cillian's hot seat is cool. Ekeje Bafou (UMass Lowell) -- Also some lofty goals for Ekeje, as he is expected to lead his team to a .500 conference record, with an average hot seat. Kuji Chagulia (St. Louis) -- His first year at St. Louis is crucial, as the board expects Kuji to have St. Louis competing for the conference championship, and his hot seat is already average. Yikes! Roy Rogers (High Point) -- Roy's hot seat is average, and the board wants High Point to have a .500 conference record. B.B. Gunn (Hawaii) -- B.B. can't quite get Hawaii over the hump, as the board still wants the Warriors competing for the conference title. B.B. has an average hot seat. Alex Donovan (Bradley) -- As is the case for the majority of the teams, Bradley's board wants them to finish .500 in the MVC. Alex has an average hot seat. Randolph Childress (Drake) -- Randolph has a nice cool seat this season, as the Drake board feels they can compete for the conference championship. DeShawn St. John (Evansville) -- DeShawn's rookie year didn't go as well as he would have hoped, and the board is making it tough, expecting the Aces to be in the NCAA tournament this season. His seat is average. Timmy Tribble (Illinois St.) -- The goal is simple for Illinois St., win the MVC title, whether it be the regular season or the postseason, the Illinois St. board wants a trophy. Timmy's seat is average. Jawouk Bafou (Loyola Chicago) -- Jawouk has been steady for Loyola, as his seat is cool. Now the board would like him to lead Loyola to a .500 MVC record. Ernesto Lopez (Northern Iowa) -- The board would like to see the Panthers in the top 2 or 3 when it comes to the end of the MVC season, and Ernesto has an average seat. Patrick Hutt (BYU) -- Not the best of starts for Patrick at BYU last season, but the board hasn't let up. They still expect BYU to be in the Sweet Sixteen, and Patrick has an average seat.

Drake will be the 6th seed in the 2019 Las Vegas Challenge and will open up against Xavier. Northern Iowa will be the 6th seed in the 2019 Las Vegas Shootout and will start against Stony Brook. St. Louis is the 5th seed in the 2019 Paradise Shootout and will open up against Gonzaga. Bradley is the 14th seed in the 2019 Preseason NIT and will open up against Missouri. Evansville will be the 4th seed in the 4 team 2019 Youth Invitational and will open up against Memphis. No other FOFC teams were invited to a preseason tournament this year, so only 6 of our 13 FOFC teams get a tournament. Not good.

collegesportsfanms Pro Rookie Join Date: Jan 2004	2019 Season Tournament Wrap-Up 2019 Coaches Invitational Illinois St. lost to (10) Texas A&M 84-71 in the first round. 2019 Las Vegas Challenge Drake beat (3) Xavier 98-91 in the first round, then lost in the winners bracket semifinals 88-80 to (2) Washington, then lost the third place game 67-63 to (5) Tulane. 2019 Las Vegas Shootout Northern Iowa won their first round game 94-86 against (11) Stony Brook, then lost 87-78 to (3) California in the quarterfinals. 2019 Paradise Shootout St. Louis started out the season well, beating (4) Gonzaga 78-70 in the first round, then beating (1) Texas 66-57 in the winners bracket semifinals, and finished it off with a 64-42 stomping of (2) Tennessee in the championship game! Congrats to Kuji Chagulia who has his new team off to a roaring start! 2019 Preseason NIT Bradley was hammered 85-34 by (3) Missouri in the first round, making their trip a very painful one. 2019 Youth Invitational Evansville lost to (1) Memphis 67-62 in the first round of this 4 team tournament, then lost to (2) UCLA 70-56 in the third place game.

It was a good week for the Black Bears, who won a non-conference game at Lafayette 84-62, then returned to conference play to win at Albany 75-69. UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 12-10, 6-3 1st America East. Just 1 game this week for the River Hawks, who crushed Albany on the road, 81-54. St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 15-5, 4-2 T-2nd Atlantic Ten. 2 home games this week for the Lou, who beat GW 71-47, then lost to VCU 81-63. America East Tournament Bryant (Score Galore) lost a heartbreaker in their first game, as (6) Albany beat them 66-64 in OT. They have a 16-14 record and a very slim shot at the postseason. If so, it'll almost certainly be the CIT. Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) got hammered in the play-in game, losing to (9) Stony Brook 93-68. They finish the regular season at 13-17, and they will be done. UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) came in as the top seed but lost in the quarterfinals to (9) Stony Brook 87-79. They have a 17-13 record and since they split their conference regular season title, should be in line for CBI or CIT. Big South Tournament High Point (Roy Rogers) lost in the quarterfinals to (5) Winthrop 86-81. With a 16-14 record, they also have a slim shot at the postseason. MVC Tournament Bradley (Alex Donovan) beat (8) Illinois St. 73-67 in a play-in game, then lost in the quarterfinals to (1) Wichita St. 63-45. With a 9-21 record, the Braves are done, obviously. The question is, will Donovan keep his job? Drake (Randolph Childress) beat (7) Northern Iowa 68-45 in the quarterfinals, then got by (3) Evansville 73-72 in the semifinals, then won the MVC title game over (1) Wichita St. 65-57. They'll receive an auto bid to the NCAA tournament, but with a 22-11 record, will probably be looking at a potential First Four match-up. Evansville (DeShawn St. John) beat (6) Loyola Chicago 67-65 in the quarterfinals, but lost 73-72 to (2) Drake in the semifinals. Despite finishing 3rd in the MVC, their 14-17 record should keep them at home when the brackets are announced. Illinois State (Timmy Tribble) lost a play-in game to (9) Bradley 73-67 and end their season with a 10-19 record, surely pitting Tribble on the hotseat next year. Loyola Chicago (Jawouk Bafou) lost in the quarterfinals to (3) Evansville 67-65. They have a 15-15 record on the season, and could sneak into the CBI or CIT, but that 184 RPI surely will keep them at home. Northern Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) won their play-in game over (10) Indiana State 72-60, then lost in the quarterfinals to (2) Drake 68-45, more than likely ending their season at 14-17. WCC Tournament BYU (Patrick Hutt) beat (7) Portland 61-58 in the quarterfinals, then smashed (6) Gonzaga 95-65 in the semifinals. They'll play (5) Pepperdine in the WCC championship game, and that will be covered next week. Our other 2 teams finished off their conference schedule this week, let's look at them. St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 23-7, 12-4 2nd Atlantic Ten. The Billikens finished off their regular season by beating St. Josephs 80-62, then going to UMass and winning 70-56. St. Louis got the #7 seed in the NCAA Midwest Region and will take on (10) Missouri in the First, Second Round, whatever you want to call it. Drake gets the #12 seed in the NCAA South Region and will take on (5) St. Marys in the First Round. More mid-major bias by the selection committee, but given how weak the MVC is right now, I'm not surprised. Hawaii, as expected, gets bounced to the NIT. They'll be the #5 seed in the NIT East Region and will travel to (4) Oklahoma in the Second Round. UMass Lowell does get into the CIT and will host (9) Nicholls St. in the First Round. 2 notes: That UC Irvine team that won 7 games during the regular season, but upset Hawaii in the First Round of the Big West Tourney? Well they ended up somehow getting hot and winning the Big West Tourney, earning a First Four berth in the NCAA Tournament. So bbgunn, don't feel too bad, at least the team that knocked you out of a chance for the NCAA tournament won the conference tournament and got the bid that should have been Hawaii's. Also, nothing has changed in the MVC, as they sent just 3 teams to the postseason. Thankfully I got out of there when I did. The MVC is still running a conference prestige of 3.

BYU got hot late in the season and turned that into a Sweet Sixteen appearance. Tough last couple games for Hawaii, who after winning 17 of 18 games, lost their last 2 when it mattered most. Drake got a nice upset win in the first round of the NCAA while St. Louis disappointed. UMass Lowell will hopefully continue to build off their postseason appearance. 2020 Postseason Wrap-Up The NCAA Final Four was a bit of a bust, as only 1 top seed made it. In the first semifinal, (1W) Tennessee beat (7S) Duke 84-81, while (6E) Georgia beat (6MW) Marquette 77-75. This led to an all-SEC championship game, in which Georgia beat Tennessee 75-69. The NIT Final Four saw nary a top seed, as the first semifinal saw (4S) Oklahoma beat (7W) Loyola Marymount 75-68. The second semifinal saw (6MW) Notre Dame beat (2E) Illinois 72-66. The NIT championship was a classic, as Notre Dame beat Oklahoma 78-77. The CBI championship series was even more amazing as (11) Colorado State beat (16) Duquesne 2 games to none. Colorado State won the first game 81-80 and the second game 80-75. Wow! And finally, the CIT championship, which saw (11) Colgate beat (9) Nicholls State 70-59. 1 other thing of note, as we stick with UC Irvine who shocked Hawaii in the Big West tournament. They won their First Four game over Stony Brook 76-51, then pulled an even bigger upset by bouncing (1) Villanova 69-66 in the second round. Holy cow! SR Allen Huber from Drake made the All-NCAA First Team, while SR Kenneth Wolfe from BYU made the All-NCAA Second Team. 2019-2020 Conference Awards Bryant put JR Xander Griffiths on the America East 1st Team. Maine had SR Roosevelt Moore on the America East 1st Team. UMass Lowell had the America East Coach of the Year in Ekeje Bafou, and also put SR Joe Kelly and SO Mark Schlueter on the America East 2nd Team. St. Louis had FR Scottie Jeyes clean up on the awards. He was named Atlantic Ten Freshman of the Year, as well as being on the Atlantic Ten All Freshman Team and the Atlantic Ten 1st Team. JR James Langford was on the Atlantic Ten 2nd Team. High Point SR Terrance Click was the Big South Player of the Year, as well as being on the Big South 1st Team. High Point also had 2 players on the Big South All-Freshman Team, Joseph Spech and Dennis David. Hawaii coach B.B. Gunn was the Big West Coach of the Year (no shock there, although I'm sure he would have traded that award for an NCAA bid). Hawaii also had the Big West Freshman of the Year in Geraldo Fernandez, who also made the Big West All-Freshman Team. SR Kurt Shoobert made the Big West First Team, while JRs Norm Shill and Philippe Deffrenne made the Big West 2nd Team. No awards for Bradley, Evansville, Illinois State, or Northern Iowa. Drake head coach Randolph Childress was the MVC Coach of the Year. The Bulldogs also had the MVC Player of the year in SR Allen Huber, who made the MVC 1st Team along with JR Mario Hicks and SR Efrain Kistler. Loyola Chicago put SR Glenn Huey on the MVC 1st Team and SR Lamar Mingo on the MVC 2nd Team. BYU had the WCC Player of the Year in SR Kenneth Wolfe, who also made the WCC 1st Team. St. Louis had the 24th best class in the nation, tops in the Atlantic Ten. High Point had the 272nd best class in the nation, good for 7th in the Big South. Hawaii had the 125th best class in the nation, good for 4th in the Big West. Bradley had the 140th best class in the nation, good for 5th in the MVC. Drake was a huge disappointment, 304th in the nation, last in the MVC. Evansville had the 143rd best class in the nation, good for 6th in the MVC. Illinois State had the 178th best class in the nation, good for 7th in the MVC. Loyola Chicago had the 84th best class in the nation, good for 3rd in the MVC. Northern Iowa had the 103rd best class in the nation, good for 4th in the MVC. BYU had the 37th best class in the nation, tops in the WCC. They also were 1 of 2 FOFC teams to pick up a 4 star recruit, the other being St. Louis.

Now that I am concentrating on FOFC coaches only, it's not fair to have 6 coaches stay in the MVC if you don't want to. So... for this season, and this season only, I am extending to Alex Donovan, Randolph Childress, DeShawn St. John, Timmy Tribble, Jawouk Bafou, and Ernesto Lopez this offer: If you want to move to another school outside the MVC without being offered the job, I will allow it. Or, if you want to stay at your MVC school and see how things play out, you're more than welcome to. Now, with that being said, I will not allow you to just jump to a school that is much better than the one you are at. It has to be a school that has close to the same RPI as you are currently at. So, sirfozzie, ntndeacon, bbgunn, Grover, britrock88, and JAG, I will send you all a PM, please PM me back as soon as you can and let me know if you want to keep your MVC coach where he's at, or move him to a different school, if you want to move him, then I will let you know what the options are. Until that is taken care of, I'll put this on hold, but I won't wait forever. If I haven't heard from you within a few days, I'll just keep you where you're at.

I never heard back from Grover, so Timmy Tribble will stay at Illinois St. I also never heard back from sirfozzie, so Alex Donovan will stay at Bradley. We have 2 new FOFCers in the mix, korme and DavidCorperial. Korme has made coach Shane Korme, who will go to Wright St. DavidCorperial has made coach David Ginsberg, who will go to Hartford. So that takes care of the MVC and new FOFC coaches. Don't worry, I will give a recap of all the human coaches in this dynasty, as soon as head coach movement is completed, but we still have some other FOFC coaches to deal with. B.B. Gunn has received several job offers, but personally if it were up to me, I wouldn't leave Hawaii for any of them. bbgunn, the offers are Central Arkansas, Charleston Southern, Delaware St., Hampton, North Florida, Pennsylvania, Tennessee State, Texas Arlington, and VMI. yuck! David Ginsberg (Hartford) -- A new FOFC coach, but the board is expecting big things, namely a conference championship. Cillian O'Reilly (Maine) -- Despite the failings of last season, Cillian's seat is still cool, but the board still wants an NCAA Tournament appearance. Ekeje Bafou (UMass Lowell) -- Ekeje has a nice, cool seat after last season, with expectations still to finish with a minimum of .500 in conference play. Randolph Childress (Davidson) -- This is a new job for Randolph, but the board wants him to compete for the conference championship. Still not sure how Davidson ended up in the A-Ten. Kuji Chagulia (St. Louis) -- A conference championship is what the board wants Kuji to deliver this season, his seat is cool. Roy Rogers (High Point) -- Lofty goals for Mr. Rogers this season, the board at High Point wants an NCAA Tournament berth. His seat is average. B.B. Gunn (Hawaii) -- After last season, the board has pretty much iced Kuji's seat. It is nice and cold at the moment. All they ask of Hawaii this season is just to compete for the Big West title. DeShawn St. John (UTEP) -- DeShawn moved to UTEP for this upcoming season, starting with an average seat, and the board hopes he can get his team to compete for a conference title. Shane Korme (Wright St.) -- Shane is our second new coach to the FOFC mix this season, but like many of the other FOFC coaches, his board wants him to get his team to compete for the conference championship. His seat is average. Alex Donovan (Bradley) -- Time is running out for Alex as the head coach at Bradley. His seat is warm and the board is getting impatient. If he doesn't finish with a .500 conference record or better this season, he may be looking for a new job. Timmy Tribble (Illinois St.) -- Things haven't gone Timmys way yet as the head coach of the Redbirds. The board still has expectations of an MVC title, but his seat is still just average. Jawouk Bafou (Loyola Chicago) -- Jawouk is really meshing quite nicely at Loyola. His seat is cool and the board still just wants a .500+ conference record. Ernesto Lopez (Northern Iowa) -- It's an average seat for Ernesto, as is the standard, the board wants UNI to compete for a conference championship. Patrick Hutt (BYU) -- Patrick is no doubt the most successful of the FOFC coaches so far. His seat at BYU is cool but the board would like a Sweet Sixteen appearance.

Illinois St. is the 4th seed in the 2020 Las Vegas Shootout and will take on (13) East Tennessee State in the first round. BYU is the 2nd seed in the 4 team 2020 Legends Invitational. They'll take on (3) Creighton in the opening round. Northern Iowa is the 8th seed in the 8 team 2020 Paradise Shootout and will open up against (1) Oklahoma St. UTEP is the 5th seed in the 8 team 2020 Rainbow Invitational and will open up against (4) Providence. Davidson is the 5th seed in the 8 team 2020 San Juan Classic and will open up against (4) Clemson. Not bad, 9 of our 15 FOFC teams get a tournament this season.

Congrats to Ernesto Lopez on the Paradise Shootout title! 2020 Rainbow Invitational UTEP got hammered by (4) Providence 95-56 in the first round, then beat (8) Northern Colorado 92-76 in the consolation semifinals, but lost the 5th place game to (6) Indiana St. 64-62. 2020 San Juan Classic Davidson lost 84-79 to (4) Clemson in the first round, then beat (8) Harvard 87-72 in the consolation semifinals, but lost the 5th place game to (6) Air Force 64-38. Overall, not a good tournament performance by our FOFC teams. Great efforts from Bradley and Hawaii in first round losses, and of course Northern Iowa winning their tournament was huge.

Some good wins for Bryant include Virginia and 24th ranked Oregon. Don't let that 6-7 record fool you, Bryant played a tough non-conference schedule including games against 3 teams that are currently ranked. This is indicated by their RPI which is currently 31. Hartford (David Ginsberg) -- 8-5, 1-0 America East. Hartford had a signature win over Vanderbilt, but a loss at 4-8 Manhattan hurt. Still, they have a nice RPI at 45 as rookie coach Ginsberg is off to a promising start. Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 7-6, 0-1 America East. The Black Bears won their first 5, including a season opening win against Green Bay, but have lost 6 of their last 8 since, including their conference opener. UMass Lowell (Ekeje Bafou) -- 5-7, 0-0 America East. The River Hawks have played just 1 game against an opponent with an RPI of 149 or better, that was a season opening loss to Memphis who is currently ranked 5th in the nation. Losses to Marist and Boston U have really hurt them. Davidson (Randolph Childress) -- 3-10, 0-0 Atlantic Ten. It has been a struggle for Mr. Childress since being hired on at Davidson a mere few weeks ago. Their 3 wins have come against NC Central, Savannah St. and Harvard. Not exactly earth shattering wins. St. Louis (Kuji Chagulia) -- 7-5, 0-0 Atlantic Ten. The Billikens don't really have a bad loss on their schedule, although losing at a 158 Missouri St. team could be considered fairly bad. Right now their RPI is 18 and they still have a few games to go before conference play. High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 2-10, 0-0 Big South. Eeks! Things are even worse for Roy over at High Point. The injuries have really hurt the Panthers, as 5 players have been injured since the start of the season, including sophomore David Lord who is out for the season with a torn PCL. The really bad loss was a 22 point loss to a 1 win Robert Morris team, at home. Aside from that loss, they've been within single digits of all but 1 of their other opponents. It'll be interesting to see how they fare now that they have everybody but Lord back and healthy. Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 5-5, 0-0 Big West. I still see greatness in this Hawaii team. Aside from a loss at a 2 win Manhattan team, they've fared well, including that 3 point loss to Georgetown, and a 17 point win at home against UCLA. They have a huge test against undefeated and 16th ranked UMass before they start Big West play. UTEP (DeShawn St. John) -- 4-7, 0-0 C-USA. There isn't really a wow moment on the schedule for UTEP. Some inexplicable losses for the Miners, including a 20 point loss at a 2 win Portland St. team to begin the season, and a loss at Grand Canyon. There was also the 39 point loss to Providence. It's a bad thing when 2 of your 4 wins have come against teams that haven't won a game yet. Wright St. (Shane Korme) -- 4-7, 0-0 Horizon. Our other rookie coach to the league, he's had a tough go of it as well. They did have a nice home win against Virginia Tech, but a 17 point loss at a Ball St. team that has a sub 300 RPI leaves a lot to be desired. Bradley (Alex Donovan) -- 2-9, 0-1 MVC. Don't sleep on that 2-9 record. Out of the 11 games Bradley has played, 8 of them have been against teams that currently have 9 wins or more. They've handed 7th ranked Kentucky their only loss of the season, as well as beating #17 Marquette. So their 2 wins are solid, as are some of their losses. But their last 3 games (a 38 point loss at #21 Purdue, a 1 point home loss to SIU Edwardsville, and a 9 point loss at Southern Illinois to open MVC play) makes this team tough to figure out. Illinois St. (Timmy Tribble) -- 6-6, 1-1 MVC. The Redbirds have a nice win at Wisconsin, but a 19 point loss at Tennessee St. (263 RPI) and an 8 point lose at home to Illinois Chicago (276 RPI) pretty much negate that Wisconsin win. Loyola Chicago (Jawouk Bafou) -- 6-5, 1-1 MVC. The Ramblers season took a blow right off the bad when 2 of their starters were academically suspended for the semester. They won their first 4 games and 199 is the best RPI of their first 4 opponents. Hard to say that they really have any key wins or really bad losses on their schedule so far. Northern Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 6-7, 2-0 MVC. The Panthers slipped a little bit after opening the season by winning the Paradise Shootout. They lost 7 of their last 8, including a loss at Arkansas Little Rock (298 RPI), a 36 point loss to #6 Texas, and a 29 point loss at St. Louis. They've started on the right foot in MVC play by winning their first 2 however. BYU (Patrick Hutt) -- 7-5, 1-0 WCC. A 10 point loss to UC Davis is by far the worst loss for BYU so far, although the 27 point loss at UCLA ranks right up there. They've given up over 100 points twice so far, to UCLA and Washington. Their 81.2 points allowed per game must get better as the season goes on. I also have the maximum conference prestige for the mid-major poll set to 4. Since the Big 12 is a prestige 4 now, they are in the mid-major poll. The WCC is a prestige 5, which is the reason BYU didn't get any votes. I could always change the max conference prestige to a 3 for the mid-major poll. That would eliminate the Big 12, but would also eliminate the Horizon, Mountain West, and Patriot Conferences. What do you guys think? Leave it at 4 and keep the Big 12 schools in the mid-major poll (and we know the Big 12 is not a mid-major conference), or change the max to 3 and eliminate 3 true mid-major conferences from the mid-major poll? I'd love to hear some opinions on this.

collegesportsfanms Pro Rookie Join Date: Jan 2004	Guys, I have some absolutely horrible news. Tonight I opened up my FBCB game only to find out that the data files were no longer there. I have no idea what happened, but the save files are gone. I've had to uninstall FBCB and reinstall it, so this dynasty is wiped. To say I'm extremely pissed right now is an understatement. I've had about the worst luck with computers that anybody could have and I'm beginning to hate them with a passion. Nevertheless, I'm going to give this dynasty a fresh start. I'm going to keep everything the same, keep everybody where they were at, which means that some coaches will be happy for a new start, others not so much. If anybody wants out of this dynasty because of this, let me know and I'll take you out, but I do plan on getting it restarted within the next couple days. Again, everybody will resume coaching at the school they were at when this dynasty was corrupted. I'm too bummed to even think about doing anything with it right now, but hopefully in a day or 2 I'll have it going again. Out of all the dynasties I've done, this one was most enjoyable for me, so I hope you all aren't too upset and still want to participate. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
